I say post away...caveat emptor/buyer beware...deals are out there... I responded to a CL ad a couple months ago and picked up a pristine VPI Scoutmaster with Shelter 501 cart for $300 cash...I figured no way it could be legit, but met the elderly seller with cash in hand (seller had original bill of sale receipts in his name, so not hot). The well off seller didn't use it and just wanted to see it go to a good home...mission accomplished!

wow...that album is cool...Iron Butterfly was my first live rock concert; 1970, Chestertown, MD inside on a stage at the end of a college basketball court, overhead projector liquid light show and all...despite the Ripple wine, I still remember most of it. It doesn't get much better for a 15 year old...LOL.

No...several years ago...with shipping/UPS packing (auction said local pickup only), the total purchase price was about $320.; original owner with purchase receipt, He even included a couple of high end speaker cables...retired guy that didn't use them any more.

He hopes someone will pay quickly via paypal to hold them for pickup...folks believe at that price they won't last long. Cash buyers end up at a random address with the occupants unaware of any item for sale... He is likely in another country...

No issue...lots of us guys would love to get a set of nice H1s for $300! They are out there....I got a nice pair of HIIs for $80. on fleabay (ad appeared the auction was just for the stands...LOL)

Bay Area is likely to be higher...in the PNW, I would say those are worth closer to +/- $4K (assumes all original components properly functioning)...

I have both LS and Khorns...honestly, in your situation, if you don't want to mess with closed backs, I would just stick with the LaScalas (maybe try the flatcaps in them too). I wasn't really happy with my Khorn's bass until I added foam pipe insulation to the rear edges and really pushed them tightly into the corners.

Those have no modified backs...they fit tight up against the wall (look at the bottom of the top hat for the profile). Here is a thread with links that might be helpful:

To be fair and update the record, @captainbeefheart did refund my money yesterday for a moving coil step up transformer deal that didn't work out. I hope the amp guys also get some satisfactory resolution.
