  1. There are some Fortes 1s for sale in my area. Walnut finish but the tags are missing from the back. As shown below, the tops on one to seems to be from 3 pieces of veneer, the other 2 pieces. The grain doesn't match either. I'm doubting they were consecutive serial numbers. Outside of this issue and the passive radiator dust caps pushed in, they look pretty good. They're asking $1k which seems a bit steep. Thoughts?
  2. there are some forte 2s for sale in my area, but there is some discoloration around the woofers (see the pic below). any thoughts on this? are the woofers okay?
  3. ^ I agree -- putting a k-33e woofer sticker on an amp makes no sense otherwise.
  4. At that price, I would expect those Khorns to be in near mint condition -- I would negotiate hard if you want them.
  5. @Jazz2020 -- the round K-77 drivers have alnico magnets, the square one has a ceramic magnet.
  6. It's a zero -- so as I posted earlier, made in 1990.
  7. @JBell - Cornwall with walnut veneer and a lacquer finish. Made in 1980.
  8. @Georgeandbootsie Looks like you've got a Heresy with a walnut veneer and a lacquer finish made in 1990.
  9. Your speakers are actually from 1975 (that's what the "N" means).
  10. @henry4841 -- shouldn't this be moved to the solid state sub-forum? EDIT: i posted this just as it was moved . . .
  11. @Idontknow - thanks for putting together your video. Your setup sounds great! I tend to agree with your setup philosophy. @Flevoman - my experience with Heritage speakers is with Heresy 1s, Chorus 1s, and Cornwall IVs - all in my 10x15 room. For all,of them, I got the best results with them in or near corners, toed in so that they cross in front of the listening position. This has given me a huge soundstage, good bass, the the best imaging. I agree with @Shakeydeal that you don't need to worry about getting an equilateral triangle. I'd try spreading your speakers a little further apart and toeing them in more. Would love to know how it turns out for you.
  12. I've run across a set of Heresy III 70th Anniversary for about $1500. They're beautiful but they're getting kinda close in price to a pair of used IVs. Would you get the 70th Anniversary Heresys at that price? I don't have a good feel for the pricing on limited edition models.
  13. There are a lot of ways to stream to the ZEN -- it can support you connecting via USB but the device is much more capable than just that.
  14. @Slates -- very nice looking Fortes! GLWS -- I wish I lived closer.
  15. @A1UC -- i think you answered the question for yourself. your 8 watt amp sounds thin and your 30 watt amp makes them shine. so your specific 8 watt amp isn't up to the task. in my experience with home demoing cornwall ivs, the amp choice does make a big difference. if you're sticking with tubes, you need an amp with good enough output transformers to clamp onto the cornwalls. i tried a jadis orchestra black which sounded heavenly in the midrange and treble, but very thin in the bass. i also tried a primaluna evo 400 integrated and it did a very good job on the bass. my parasound jc5 provided wonderful bass but didn't have the midrange magic of the orchestra black. my local dealer (audio video therapy in nashua, nh) sells a lot of cornwalls with the luxman sq-n150. it's only 10 watts per channel . . . so in summary, i would think 8 watts is enough in a smaller room, but it needs to be an 8 watt amp that has enough reserves to control the cornwall woofers.
  16. the USA stamp just means made in the USA -- my '75 klipsch heresys have similar stamps.
  17. you didn't ask any questions in your post. what do you want to know? the speakers are raw birch and would have left the factory that way -- if they have a finish on them, it would have been applied by a previous owner.
  18. I just sent the seller an email saying I'd buy them. I'll let you know where this stands.

    Chorus in VA

my room is only 10' wide and the chorus really need more room to breathe. however, i just picked up some quicksilver mid monos which probably would have been awesome with the chorus. i should have been more patient . . . and they were in incredible condition . . .
