What have happened to all the Eico fans?
Invidiosulus replied to Guy Landau's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Speaking of HF-81's, I still do not have a tube amp in my system, so if anyone would be willing to donate one I would be most appreciative. For the time being my heresy's are going to have to make do being powered by low end Yamaha solid state. Peace, Josh -
Happy birthday my fellow Heresy/ HK-430 owner. I wish you many happy returns of the day. Peace, Josh

What is there to see? More computer speakers for the battlefield 1942 crowd? Those aren't even real pictures, just a bunch of pre-vis 3D stuff. They may be bigger and better than the other computer speakers out there but they are still not going to sound as good as real speakers hooked up to your computer. Peace, Josh

For all you Mac computer "lovers" out there
Invidiosulus replied to dougdrake's topic in General Klipsch Info
I agree with the evil Ear on this one. There has not been a single program that I have run on the dual 1.4Ghz G4 macs at school that seems to run faster than on my dual 1.4Ghz AMD pc. If anything the mac seems rather sluggish. Peace, Josh -
Just wondering ... who has been here the longest?

a system without a center channel?
Invidiosulus replied to pinipig523's topic in General Klipsch Info
It might depend on the receiver you are planning on getting. The Yamaha htr-5540 which I also happen to have does this just fine. You just have to go into the speaker setup and set the center to none. Peace, Josh -

They have them set up for display at Take5 in New Haven. To get them to open up, you need a lot of good quality power. Take5 drives them with Levinson 33H amps, which produce roughly a bazillion watts into practically any load. ---------------- 1200 watts @ 1ohm And they weigh 220 pounds. My goodness. Peace, Josh

buy my heresy speakers...please?
Invidiosulus replied to reluctant carnivore's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I doubt that the scratches on the dust cover will make ANY difference sonicly. The back corners on my heresy's are just kinda dented in, as if somebody dropped them on the floor. Those handles are a great idea, I wish I had thought of that. It would sure make things easier whe I rearrange my living room every week Peace, Josh -
30th Anniversary Edition Vinyl-Dark Side of The Moon
Invidiosulus replied to rowooo's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Just curious, How much does that 30th anniversary edition sell for? I saw it at a small record store and I think it was about $50 Then I saw it again at the Virgin megastore at downtown disney in orlando and it was $18. Peace, Josh -
Brand New Voice of the Theater in box for sale
Invidiosulus replied to justin_tx_16's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I think those are absolutely beautiful speakers. I would go crazy to have a pair of those sitting in my living room. If of course they sounded good. Peace, Josh -
It's my dad's fault, it really is. I could have grown up like my friends and listened to music as a kid on cheap all in one solutions with tiny speakers belching forth the sound of cardboard. Unfortunately for me however my dad had a pair of JBL 4311 studio monitors. Those JBL's impressed me more and more as I heard the speakers most of my friends had. The music that filled our house was always of a varied sort, from classical and jazz to rock and bluegrass, always played cleanly by those JBL's. This of course put the bug in me at a young age to someday own my own stereo, something with which I could listen to my music whenever I wanted. Fast forward a number of years, Here I am sitting in an apartment with 2 working stereos and a growing collection of vinyl and cd's. I have my own pair of smaller JBL's as well as a pair of Klipsch heresy's. My dad still has more speakers than me but part of that is my own fault. That audio junkie thing is no joke, time to spin some some music on the HiFi. Peace, Josh

Will 600 WPC be enough for my Cornwalls?
Invidiosulus replied to BigBusa's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Would those crown amps be enough to power my heresy's?? I've been watching movies and with the 75 watts that my yamaha puts out I can only vibrate the floor and send a sort of rumble through my apt complex. I need something that will actually crack the foundation, I'm not going to be satisfied until I have an eviction notice. I have though about adding a subwwofer to my setup but I have decided I might as well just put more power into the speakers i've already got. Peace, Josh -
And what is wrong with some scotch?? Peace, Josh

Mine were my JBL L46's Price, $0.00 Great speakers, I love em to death. I have em as my computer speakers. Peace, Josh

which alk crossover for my super cornwall clones
Invidiosulus replied to molecularman's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I understand that the bass cabinet is the same dimensions as a cornwall but I was wondering why you called these speakers cornwall clones. All the drivers are different and the box configuration is way different since it's a two piece. It seems like you've got some great DIY speakers, just not really Cornwalls. Peace, Josh -
Digital signal cables and "bits is bits"
Invidiosulus replied to Ray Garrison's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Actually 44.1k does not record accurately all the way up to 22.05Khz As you can see when a signals frequency approaches the sampling rate(or much lower) the recorded samples can not accurately reconstruct the original signal. Even if you have a signal that is much lower than the sampling rate, say 22.0Khz, if the frequency of the signal is just slightly offset from the sampling rate this type of aliasing will occur. No one can hear that high but the resulting tones are well within the range of human hearing, around 18.5Khz seems to be where my ears drop out, either that or it's where my tweeters roll off. SACD and DVDA seem to have alleviated the aliasing problem with their rather high sampling rates. But who cares? I'm listening to some vinyl(Rolling Stones) Peace, Josh -
Yep, I am into the whole graphic arts thing. The book we used in my photoshop class was one of the Visual Quickstart Guides, published by Peachpit press. These seem pretty thorough although they can be kind of dry. We have PS 7.0 at my school(adobe gives my school all their programs for free) but I still use 6.0 at home. I just finished a class in Macromedia Director Neat program but I don't enjoy writing code enough to want to do it full time. It is nice to be able to make my own shockwave games though This week I started classes in Apple's Final Cut Pro and Discrete's 3D Studio Max. I keep thinking my brain is going to stop absorbing info one of these days and my head will just explode. I'll see if I can ask around and find out what other Photoshop books are good. Peace, Josh

I challenge you to find a computer case better than this.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the case mod on the lower left of this page. Peace, Josh -
Digital signal cables and "bits is bits"
Invidiosulus replied to Ray Garrison's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I think this is why pro recording gear has a thing called a "Word Clock" The devices use a quartz clock to keep themselves in sync and are connected with a coaxial digital cable typically with a bnc connector. Peace, Josh
