Vacuumed with a Kirby G4 ('nuff said) horsehair brush very carefully, LIGHTLY and gently several times per year, although they did not need it because I have electrostatic air filters on furnace/AC system and due to allergies always use filtered air in the house year round. I do not think you will ever find a nicer pair than these Martin Logan Source CLS electrostatic hybrid speakers in this ad! I will be sad to see them go, but I have not used them in a year. They have been sock-stored in my living room, displaced by Merlin VSM-M speakers I picked up locally. They are ready to be picked up at the front door. My 15W Cyrus Brenneman Stereo-15 EL84 amplifier drove them fabulously in a 13' X 18' X 8' living room open to dining room. So much so, that I did not feel I needed the Grotto subwoofer, in fact, guests at first did not believe the powerful lows coming from the Source were WITHOUT the subwoofer on. But, if you take time and attention, the Grotto will blend in just marvelously and seamlessly. They were always kept covered by me and the first owner--in fact--we both babied these. The platform they come with is unique in that by just twisting the panels 180 degrees around, you can raise the tilt 15 degrees for parties with standing guests, or leave them level. Ingenious design. I read that Martin Logan put significant engineering effort into the panel and bass integration and the new CLS2 bracing that is now on all their speakers. HEY! I have the r-28f speakers, and I hate the look of the front feet. Any ideas on what I can do instead? I know these speakers have a high sensitivity so I'm trying to be careful here

I am new to this so I have a question that might have been already answered. Can I have my book shelf speakers set up on their side (horizontally)? Would it affect performance? I currently have tight set up for my turntable and my speakers would fit much better this way. Right now I am running it with my Klipsch B-100 but I also have some R-41Ms I could switch them out for. What would you recommend?

Hello! I am trying to decide between buying a pair of klipsch forte 2 that the seller says have "recapped crossovers and updated tweeter diaphragms" for $800 or a pair of rogers studio 1s for $700 they both appear to be in fantastic condition littles scrapes but other than that they look great. Has anyone heard both speakers to help me decide?

If any of you have looked at my other main post, I'm beginning to restore a pair of Speakerlab K horns and have been asking for advice. Since my new digital multi-meter came in yesterday, I decided to go out to the garage to test my existing drivers and tweeter to check for continuity and measure impedance. Tweeter - K-77-M or equivalent (x1) - PASS (measuring about 6.5 ohms (is that right?)) Midrange horn drivers (x2) - EV 1823M - PASS (measuring about 8 ohms each) Woofer - here's where I ran into trouble. One is gone, pulled for some project of @rigma's. The other one has been safely secured in its bass bin since the 70's. When I say secured, I mean SECURED. It was overbuilt in the way of German cars, tanks and aircraft. I believe had these been on the Titanic, you could have pulled them from the sunken wreckage and there's a good chance they would play once drained. I had to remove at least 15 screws that were completely coated in thick silicone and tightened into threaded inserts by scraping them clean, one by one. Then I had to use a razor to cut through even more silicone and get a small pry bar to separate the "access panel" from the bin. That's where I messed up. I should have known. The speaker cable going to the driver had also been still securely soldered to the driver inside, which pulled the little soldering tabs loose from the speaker. Damn. After removing 3 wingnuts, 1 3/4" nut and two wood screws securing the motor board to the cabinet (then prying it loose with said pry bar), the speaker came out. It is a Speakerlab W1500D 4-ohm woofer and seems to be in OK shape (minus my screwing up the connecting tabs). I was able to test it by connecting the multi-meter probes to the little wires coming off the woofer. It does PASS continuity and looks to be reading 4.5 ohms(?) My hands were a little shaky by this point. So, CAN the driver be repaired? Is it WORTH being repaired and finding a similar K-33 or equivalent? How much money did @rigma spend on sealants in 1970-whatever and what is that in today's dollars? These and other questions linger. The line to take shots at me forms to your left. I tried looking for some woodwork studios but no have speaker experience, all other hifi systems owners and buidlers that i know stopped building them. Planning to buy a pair of R 5800 W II and CDT 5800 C II for our home theater. So I recently upgraded my Klipsch RP-150M bookshelf speakers that I had for about 3 years to the Forte III’s in my audio setup a few days ago. Wow...all I have to say, biggest improvement I have seen so far! I have been experimenting with placement, currently have them about 12-13inches from the back wall in my apt., slight toe-in and 6-7 feet apart. They are about 13 feet from main listening position. Sounding pretty good but does anyone have any recommendations for me to improve the sound more? Also I have heard that these speakers need time to break in to sound their best, is this true? Any and all comments are appreciated!👍🏻 - Matt

Hi Gurus, Am new to the forum and trying to put a new system together to replace one the kids helped themselves to :-). Purchased KLIPSCH Speakers as follows Fronts 2- RF-7III , Center 1-RC-64III, Rears 2-R250S, Bass- 1-R112SW ( will add another base and or surrounds matching if needed and have second area by the pool to play simple outdoor AV and music so two zones.) Looking for suggestions on what I should use to drive these, room is 45x60 ft open area kitchen, living breakfast nook. Read on-line that I should get the speakers I want and then look for suggestions for how to drive them and thats where the choices started to make less sense. Appreciate the help and suggestions. I have a pair of two KG 5.2s, but unfortunately the receiver got lost somewhere along the 20+ years I've owned them. I am interested in putting them to use but I don't know how or which receiver I could use for them. does anyone have any ideas?

Good day all, I have a set Cornwall 1. I listen to these speaker at conversation level, or slightly higher 90 plus % of the time. what like is that they have great detail at low levels, very room filling sound, and still sound great off axis/in another room. I am soon to move. New room 12x24, with 8 ft ceilings. The speakers will be on 12x16 portion because of hallway opening breaking the wall up. 1 speaker will be close to corner, and other, only back wall. I have been kicking around the idea of selling my Cornwalls for either NEW Cornwall/ La scala/ Fortes, or used chorus ll. I have a pair of quartets, so I get an idea of the flavor of the rear passive speakers, however I have to crank them louder than I usually like, to get them to open up, but at louder levels I might enjoy them better than the Corwalls at the same level. I am wondering if the quartets (New) bigger siblings can play as well or better at lower levels as my Cornwalls, or would they be similar to quartets? Would the La Scalas need more room to breath even at my normal listening levels? I wonder if it would be worth the change since I listen mostly low to medium low levels with the occasional crank fest? Should I just upgrade the stock Cornwall's? If I do upgrade, who do you think would have the upgrades that would best fit my style of listening. I listen to all music except the screaming metal. I don't know the name of the genre. grateful for responses

So all this week i've been trying to find out about under powering speakers. There is a ton of info about over powering speakers but not much on the dangers or issues of under WATTing, <-- not a real word, speakers. I bought a pair of R-14Ms that fit well within my system specifications. I want to buy a pair of R-15Ms but the RMS is higher than the RMS of my AVR. Will it be OK or should I avoid purchasing these speakers and buy another set of R-14Ms? Here are the details: Small/Medium Room DENON AVR-S730H 75w - 165w MAX Klipsch R-15M 85w - 340w MAX If I can get a clear answer from a couple of you fellow Audiologists it will clear up questions about additional speakers I plan on purchasing. Here is a picture of some speakers that I just completed. You could call them Cornwall III clones or Cornwall inspired, but they are DIY scratch built speakers. The cabinets are Baltic birch covered in South African waterfall bubinga. They are filled with factory drivers and crossovers, so of course, they sound amazing. I'm trying them in different rooms with different amplification to determine where they are going to stay. I Love this hobby!

Hi, Got a question and not sure if this has been brought up/mentioned before in the forum. I'm looking to add in Height Channel speakers to my 5.1 system to get Atmos sound out of my audio. I cannot install in ceiling speakers as it would just be too big a task to take on and installing wall mounted speakers for Front Height would make more sense in my setup. I've been looking at a few options and I'm just not a fan of the whole Atmos enabled speakers with ceiling bounce... easiest of the options, but I just don't think it will work. I want to know if Surround Speakers would work well to disperse sound in a wide angle direction instead of just forward direction would work well since surrounds are bi-polar speakers.... Or use bookshelf speaker would do. My only concern with bookshelf speakers have a venting port in the back, if it would cause vibrations/distortions when playing any tracks/movies. Surround speakers don't have a rear venting port and therefore wouldn't have the same issue that bookshelf speakers have for possible vibration of air being pushed out the rear. Looking for some guidance in this area. Also, if someone can give recommendations on best speakers of use for front height use. I have the following in my system: R82 - Front L/R RC52 - Centre RS42 - Surround SW110 - Sub Denon AVR-X3300W Much appreciated to any input here. Just looking for that Atmos experience. Thanks

Looking into Emotiva XPA-3, it puts out 275 RMS. My RF-7II’s are 250W RMS, and the center channel I’m getting is 200W RMS. Will the 275 hurt the 200 RMS center channel? Not worried about the RF-7’s

B&W CDM 2 speakers hello Highly regarded CDM2 Bookshelf speakers by Bowers & Wilkins is one of my favorite bookshelf speakers. They are beautiful Rosewood Exotic Veneer these need some help with the finish as the have some nicks on them but the sound very nice, they have some holes on the back from mounting brackets for mounting them to a wall. one of the tweeters has been pushed in a little but I don't hear anything wrong with the sound. these are not in mint shape and have been used in few houses I will be posting pics of them in a day or two. I will be making new jumping wires for the speaker post as they can be biamp. also I am missing one of the covers to them. I am near Orlando fl and will ship them to anywhere in the usa or up north. I would like to get 200 plus shipping

I am debating on whether to set up my theater room as an Atmos setup or a standard setup. My receiver only has 7 channels therefore I can do a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos or a standard 7.1 Dolby digital configuration. Will there be a noticable difference in sound with the Atmos or will I appreciate the sound more as a 7.1 standard configuration. The room size is around 12ft x 19ft. I am running the following for my setup: 2xRP-260F (Front left and right) 1xRP-440C (Center) 2xRP-240S (Surround left and right) 1xR-115SW (Sub) Denon AVR-X3300W Receiver If you think atmos is the way to go do you think i would like the 2xCDT-5650-CII in ceiling speakers or the RP-140SA up-fire speakers?
