A little cloudy this afternoon, but we enjoyed the warm ocean waters this morning. Mostly doin nothin! A little surfing on the web and figured I'd stop in and say hi. Lots of sights on the beach, but most of the staring is in pure shock. Cloudy and spitting rain today, so we visited Vizcaya, a 1917 mansion built in Miami proper - then Hard Rock Cafe for dinner. greg928gts Posted October 2, 2009 Author Share Posted October 2, 2009 In the "divergent interests" category . . . Went to the Metro Zoo yesterday. Very quiet, hardly anyone there. Lots of walking and really enjoyed the quiet time. Then . . . On the trip home, we hear on the radio that Metallica is going to be in Ft. Lauderdale/Sunrise that night! So we skipped up there and found a pair of tickets for sale and enjoyed some heavy music. Typical PA sound quality, but not too loud, which was nice. I didn't have to wear ear plugs. They were playing in the "round" which I enjoy much better than "end stage" layouts. Thinking of going to the Miami/OK game Sat night. greg928gts Posted October 4, 2009 Author Share Posted October 4, 2009 Good to be home. We had a very nice time in the greater Miami area. The game Saturday night was a lot of fun. We went there without tickets and paid the $25 for parking about a mile from the stadium. It took a while, but we found a guy selling and he had two 50 yard line tickets on row 29 and he only wanted face value for them! We couldn't believe our good fortune. Got the wife all set with a turkey wrap and proceded to scope out the real food. Found some ok BBQ. Rooted for the home team even though we really didn't care who won. We got a good game.
