muel
Oppo DV-980H with the Scott 299b. I don't think I noticed a difference between the "Extra" and "Tuner"... I think I had a flaky connection at one point. See my additional comments I just made on this configuration at another post here Oppo Owners

NOSValves
If you're having issues running a CDP with a Scott 299A (Let me make this clear only the original 299 has this issue) its a sensitivity mis-match issue (Too much drive voltage from the CDP). Some CD player just have to much output and will create distortion by over driving the preamp section which is before the Volume control. The easy fix is to pick up a set of these and use them for the CP player only http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=266-242 . jcmusic
Hey guys thanks for all the replys, looks like a piece of cake!!! Jay
NOSValves
I've actually hard wired it in a few before. Just takes 3 resistors per channel to properly attentuate the signal with out sonic penalty. But there is no real nice neat place to wire it in the circuit and these little Harris jobs do a perfect job for a reasonable cost. One could also nock the over gain of the preamp down but that would result in the overall gain too low for the phono section. So doing it this way works out the best all around.
