gagelle
I picked up a record the other day containing some Bach pieces but with an extra sealed recording of Beethoven's 5th, transcribed for piano by Liszt. I was completely drawn in to this beautiful piece of music. Every note is played slowly. I hate when the 5th is played too fast. Something of the beauty of each note is lost. I've been a Gould fan for years but wasn't aware that he played the 5th on the piano.
Groomlakearea51
I've got a couple CD's with Gould. Very good stuff. [Y] [H]
seti
PBS showed a documentary on his life and music. He certainly was interesting. I'm not necessarily into that sort of music but he certainly made it much more interesting.
gagelle
I've been into him for years. I love his two volume Beethoven sonata series. His playing on the transcribed Beethoven 5th is amazing. I picked it up in a record store for practically nothing because the owner said that there aren't many people who buy classical music on vinyl--typical of the city I live in. I remember years ago, the first Tower Records in NYC had a tremendous collection of classical and jazz on vinyl. It's a shame that they went out of business. That place was a landmark. Mallette
Probably the worst singer I ever heard...great accompanist, though. [] Dave

Rivernuggets
Every note is played slowly. I like his extreme tempo interpretations. He gave so many pieces new light. Also saw that PBS special about his life. Very interesting - you get to see his whole personality instead of the weird-dude stuff he became known for. artto
I love his rendition(s) of Bach's Goldberg Variations on CBS. Great recording! I also have a live interview LP where Gould discusses the end of "live" music performances. Too bad he didn't foresee the end of music software first
DizRotus
Probably the worst singer I ever heard...great accompanist, though. Dave Keith Jarret also makes a lot of noise while playing the piano. I don't know which is worse, grunting in tennis or groaning at the keyboard.
