Moderators dtel Posted February 12, 2014 Moderators Share Posted February 12, 2014 Right in the middle of the Corvette Museum in Ky. Just really bad luck, 8 cars were lost. http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/sinkhole-corvette-museum-swallows-eight-rare-vettes-154608933.html

oldtimer
I saw one of those new vettes on the street not long ago. Stunning. I am not a vette guy and like but a few classic models but this thing brings back the wow.
oldenough
Crap!! I wouldn't wish that on a Yugo...Hope they can salvage something.
mungkiman
Heartbreaker. Can't imagine loaning a car to the museum and having this happen!
Moderators dtel Posted February 12, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted February 12, 2014 Of all the places a sinkhole could appear, right in the middle of a museum right under a collection of cars. Could you imagine the look on the first person to open up the museum this morning.
Max2
No no no. That is some sort of Voo Doo surgical strike that couldn't be duplicated even in an Oceans 11,12 or 13 movie. Man, those cars were all original, numbers matching, etc. Oh well, better it happen to the upper crust than a struggling working man these days. oscarsear
Looks almost biblical in its 'rich mans hobby' catastrophic irony.
derrickdj1
Is that a sink hole or an opening to the lower level?
CECAA850
Took out the one millionth corvette. I think Ford had a hand in this...............................
JL Sargent
Holy Sink Hole Batman! I took a picture of one in a Walmart parking lot several years ago. It was 20' across or so. No Corvette deaths on that one. Remember this one in Guatamala? Edited February 12, 2014 by JL Sargent

Sounds suspicious, if they only had a Pinto museum. If Chevy wants to get even they should create a sinkhole under Ford's parts dept. CECAA850
if they only had a Pinto museum. They could never have one because it's too hard to find one that hasn't burned.
JL Sargent
This should have fallen in the hole LOL.
Max2
Oh well, better it happen to the upper crust than a struggling working man these days. That's a bit harsh.... No its not. It was just vehicles held by GM and a couple were loaners from the Uber folk. I don't even think any were true antiques. I don't see this as a funny event and who doesn't hate to see cool cars like that go to waste. But the bottom line, GM is lucky no visitors were swallowed as well. And yes, to put things a little clearer at the end of the day, I would much rather see a Mega "Milk" companies truck lose a few canisters than to think a kiddo or infant has to go without his milk for a few days because mom and dad are short on resources. You can rest assured that GM will take care of the few losses that they didn't own.

Moderators dtel Posted February 12, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted February 12, 2014 This should have fallen in the hole LOL. That's funny, my sister had one as her first car that my dad had fixed up for her, she was so embarrassed she quickly saved up to get anything else. She called it her fish aquarium. Oh yeah, I saw where they had a "priceless" 1983 Vette that never went in to production that was saved. How could any GM product built in 1983 be priceless...Ha!
