texas42
Up for sale are my ALK modded Walnut Khorns. These have extensive modifications to perform like no other Klipschorns I have ever owned or listened to. Well over $2k in mods to include: Beyma CP25 tweeters ($300); B&C DE85TN Midrange Drivers ($460); Eliptrac 400 mid horns ($525); 2 part crossovers with the ES5800 tweeter XO ($420) and the AP12-500 woofer XO ($350). This is all connected by pure silver internal wiring. The result is the cleanest, most dynamic and most musical Klipsch speakers I have ever owned or listened to. (I've owned, on multiple occasions at that, almost every Klipsch speaker model out there with the exclusion of the Jubilees. These out-perform them all, to include the Jubilees, in my opinion). Mods raise the efficiency to 107db. The 2" throat on the mid horns eliminate the horn shout that some find displeasing leaving you an extremely open airy speaker that actually images quite well! I bought these with the intent of moving into a new home which would accommodate their size. Unfortunately, those plans have fallen through, hence their sale. These Khorns have a serial number of either 3G039 or 36039 (see pic) which I believe places their vintage around 1969. I would rate them in good condition for their age. One speaker does have a water ring on top (from a previous owner) from something being placed on top of it. Speakers are available for audition and purchase in San Antonio, Texas. These would probably be cost prohibitive to ship. Considering the cost of the mods, I am asking $4200, which I believe to be a bargain. I might consider a trade plus cash, depending on what you have. Email if interested.

Good luck with the sale. lot of confusion on the what year the letter G stands for. i believe like the OP its for 1969 and not 1968 they didn't use the letters i - o - q - v - z thru 1983 Edited April 16, 2014 by Budman
opusk2k9
You may be right, I looked it up on critesspeakers.com. texas42
Shameless bump before I start listing on other sites. Are there no die-hard Klipsch Heads interested in an incredible pair of dream speakers? Would consider smaller Klipsch (Forte, KLF, Epic, etc) + cash. Email if interested. Heritage_Head
You might make more if you made them stock. And sold them and the upgrades separate. Just an idea Edited May 3, 2014 by reference_head
Cosmic_surfer
If I had the cash I would have no problem purchasing them. Alas I don't have the cash. I know you said that your dream was to put them in a larger room/house to accomodate them, is that dream really completely outside the realm of possibilities? You put a lot of work into these horns, it would be a shame to achieve your dream only to find you lost your horns somewhere during the journey. I don't know your story, but if it were me I would just mothball them for the time being, until the day you can unleash the fury in a healthy environment. Just my 2 cents. Since 99% of your buyers market are not audiophile, and the upgrades would be lost on them it would be hard for most to justify the purchase of these speakers (also your market is further shrunk due to the cost prohibitive nature of shipping). A lot of people would look at 50 year old speakers and say... They are ancient and unworthy... I know this is a silly notion, but ignorance and lack of understanding run rampant in the modern age.
