Arkytype
That sucker's got four swamping resistors! Lee
wvu80
Lee, what are you calling a swamping resistor? Would that be the four pink resistors on the side closest to us? I am not familiar with swamping resistors, except in the most elementary sense that they somehow control bias that is affected by temperature. Would you care to explain a little further, and explain why four would be needed? Edited November 23, 2015 by wvu80
jimjimbo
somehow control bias that is affected by temperature. I believe you are thinking of a Swamp Cooler.....
Deang
Those aren't swamping resistors. One resistor is in series with the HF driver and is used to attenuate the output of the driver. The other three resistors are part of three independent LCRs used to correct for aberrations in the frequency response. He replaced all of the normal wiring with enamel coated wire (magnet wire). It was a comment made in jest. Tell us more about the three independent LCR sections. What aberrations are you trying to correct? Do you have measurements to share? wvu80, You wrote: Lee, what are you calling a swamping resistor? Would that be the four pink resistors on the side closest to us? A quick search of past forum posts will yield plenty of info on Al's use of a so-called swamping resistor to minimize load impedance variations to an amplifier. richieb
You are certainly sure of One thing if the word "crossover" is used in a thread - a cordial little fireside chat. Maybe everyone should give up their Klipsch rigs and go single driver, zero crossovers?! No fuss, no muss, - oh that's right we would have the "which driver is the best" pundits chime in. Either way, makes for good reading while on the can!
