Just about done with this forum

This used to be my favorite place to hang out on the net. But recently it seems to be full of "new comers" that want advice and then don't take it or they all of the sudden know more than everyone else on here and then dickheads like etc who send responses like this when all I did was tell

Him how long mine took to sell at a certain price point. Sick of people being jerks for no damn reason on this forum. Here was the response:

I would never post them for that. It's an internet direct product that sells for $3600 for two ultras.

I'm not going to lose a $1000 on something I purchased less than a year ago. Also, you do realize SVS changed the design of the amp and raised prices? A single PB13-ultra is $1999 right now.

There are other used units, but they don't have 4 years of warranty and do not have the nicer amp. Besides to price it right off the bat at $1300 would be a bone head move. Maybe if they haven't sold in a year I'd do that.

The truth is prices are always determined by supply and demand (in a free market), they will eventually sell for more than $1300 as there are no other newer ultras for sale right now and I'm not going to price them for that.

These are awesome subs at $2950 for the pair. Anyone looking in my area with the cash would buy them. Just have to wait for someone who is looking. Thanks for your unwanted advice though.

Way more good than bad here. Fortunately, I have found that the mean ones are just passing through. If I took it all to heart, I would be a heartbroken man. In the balance, those who do good outweigh anything I have seen thrown at members here.

Good fortune to you all.

The problem is the dude felt the need to also put "PM sent" in the for sale posting so as to deter potential buyers (why else would he do that?  Would not have had a problem had he not done that (basic common courtesy/common sense).

I don't need pricing advice, especially when my price is within 15% of what his sold for.  I told him I don't want his advice.  Guess that makes me a bad person?!?

Also been a member here since 2008, but I'm "new" here?  I have a MS in Electrical Engineering and an MBA, what are your technical competencies (besides picking fights with folks)?

My exact message to him:

Hey obviously you can price whoever you like. Mine were about 8 months old and I priced them at 1300 each and they took quite a while to sell
At that price. Just a heads up. What did you replace them with?

Honestly Scrappy, I'm not sure why you are upset with the guy's response.  He wasn't rude, didn't use vulgarity.  Of course he is going to try and get as much for them as he possibly can so that he doesn't lose out on too much money.  Please refrain from name calling.  It surely doesn't make the forum a better place.  ;)

Funny you say that cause my common courtesy to ANYONE is that if I send a pm I say it in the thread just in case for some reason they don't check pm's regularly. But hey what is common sense to me may not be common sense to you. So like I said before I was trying to just give a courtesy heads up and you were rude in return for no damn reason

guess what? Him telling me that I must not know about ultra amps being updated (like four years ago) and his were 1999 new (guess what payed that for both of mine too) is freakin insulting to me. Then saying thanks for your unwanted advice when all i was doing was telling him my experience also seemed a little unnecessary.

That doesn't make the forum a bad place....we have to realize that not everyone is going to agree with the opinions that we share.  I have talked with MANY of my friends that say they are always broke.  I share with them how to get out of debt and what do they do?  They go buy a new car.  Am I offended?  Nope.  It's their life, it's their decision.  It doesn't hinder me from wanting to offer the same advice to someone else who asks.

Looks like Scrappy is the new guy compared to you ETC!

lol seems in my first post I stated there are two different people. "New comers" and then people like etc who are rude for no reason.

and you are entitled to your opinion. I don't sit on a computer at work and have forum access. I have little breaks that I use my phone throughout the day. So when I devote my free time to give advice as well as plenty of others who I talk with outside the forum and no ones advice was taken just seems like it was a waste of time. I'm not talking about taking offense to it. Just that fact that why did me and so many others waste our time offering advice for it just to be ignored. Trust me I'm not the only one that feels that way lately. I discuss it regularly via text with a few other guys on here n

Sorry to offend dude.  How am I supposed to know what you think or what your past experiences are, when you sold your subs, what versions they were?

I don't know what your problem is or why you felt the need to post my PM publicly...  Also, why clutter my garage sale post with "PM sent" if you weren't interested in buying if only to deter potential buyers for some reason?

Many people are sensitive about garage sale items. My advise to everyone is not to give advise unless solicited. Good intentions sometimes are not seen as such.

you are correct and this is a prime example. I'll keep my mouth shut from here on out in the garage sale section.

To many good people have left this forum over non-issues.  Let's all get some tougher skin and let some things slide.  Everyone's input is valuable and respected.  New or old member, dose not matter, we can learn from everybody.  Sometimes the dumbest question brings the most discussion and knowledge.

I've found out the hard way that "Unsoliticed Advice Is Rarely Welcomed".

Here is my unsolicited advice.....if you have a problem with ETC's response, discuss it with him via PM.  No need to air your frustration with him and begin name calling here.  It won't accomplish anything.  Just wanting to keep things civil.

Ha! I gave my sister a Dave Ramsey book as a gift. She got so insulted she gave it away.

many on here know exactly what gear I have owned in the past sub-wise. That's fine you didn't. And apparently you missed the part where I said I out pm sent as a COURTESY to let people know I sent them one. Cause guess what I get on here on my phone 97% of the time and if I don't click on my inbox I have no clue I get a message. If I go to my thread and see that someone said they sent a pm then I know to check. Edited by Scrappydue
