calhockey10
One woofer on my rf 7 has a slight tear in it as shown in the picture below. Should I replace that and if so does anyone have one for sale.

derrickdj1
I think at some point the tear will progress. Might as well start looking for one. There may be a way to repair it. Others should chime in and give some advice.
Moderators Youthman Posted February 11, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 11, 2016 I agree with Derrick. Dents and dings in a woofer are one thing....tears in the rubber surround are another. I would think it will get worse with time.
ClintonH
If you can deal with a few dents in the dust cap here is one for less then 1/3rd the price of new. I bought the KF-87 horns off him and they arrived packed super well and work perfectly. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Klipsch-RF7-K-1089-AV-10-Woofer-Dented-Cone-2-RF-7-/191791911639?hash=item2ca7b052d7:g:5UYAAOSwGotWposY
derrickdj1
I remember when I had some McIntosh speakers, there was a company in New England that re-coned and fixed damage speakers. Between shipping and fixing, probably more than a used or new woofer.

Just not sure how much it costs.
calhockey10
thanks everyone I will probably just keep watching the bay and see what deals come about. Does the dents in the cone harm anything besides cosmetics?
Moderators Youthman Posted February 12, 2016 Moderators Share Posted February 12, 2016 Does the dents in the cone harm anything besides cosmetics? No, the cone is just a dust cap to prevent dust from entering into the driver.
W27
That doesn't look too bad. I've had a drill slip and go through surrounds. I'd try something like this http://www.parts-express.com/black-rubber-cement-speaker-repair-glue-1-oz-bottle--340-078 Something like that should do it. It's cheap and will look better than a dented cone. Set some alerts for RF-7 drivers. If you find a good deal pick it up.
