AXPONA 2022 CHICAGO

Lots of vendors inc many Euros

Some, many of the regular vendors weren't present or apparent

Sat attendance was good, but not as many as in the past

I visited approx 60%

As usual the rooms are hard to tune

so lots of gear that should sound good, doesn't

Lots of good stuff to see and hear.

The best tuned / sounding room was Wynn Audio

noticeably better than everyone.

Told me they spent 5 hours tuning and moving the speakers around.

Klipsch was there with reseller ABT

ABT has all-most of the Heritage line in their main Chicago Burb showroom

Jubs were the only Klipsch speaker on display

Mr Delgado was there interacting with the faithful

Legacy Audio, Springfield IL sounded great as usual

I think theirs are all active.

Borrensen Denmark was interesting

Proprietary speaker tech

Three brand names, speakers, electronics etc

Like most-all of the Euros, if they have giant speakers, they leave them at home

https://borresen-acoustics.com/

Great sounding Danish Babe they played for me

Digging for the Piano-Jazz track I heard

AGD Productions, Inc USA

Interesting take on Class D Amp Design

Based on higher performance Gallium Nitride MOSFET MIL Grade Processors

Few different models, amp in a tube look, upgradeable ?

Class D amp rolling ?

Would be interesting to bake off vs an AB amp

agdproduction.com

Headphone room

Should be quiet instead of noisy

Most of the cans were open, so lots of noise

Warwick Cans out of the UK towered above the others

also in a much quieter corner.

The $16K uber expensive cans of course were the ones for me

Apereo Model = $16K ?

Payola ?

How about waiting to announce the fact that the Jubes would be there until the Thursday before the show? If you want to drum up interest/buzz on an upcoming product it seems a bit of a "miss" to wait until the Thursday ahead of the show to announce that fact. Maybe there would have been more buzz if people were given some time/announce to make sure they could be there....and that begins HERE.

You can do the "announce show tomorrow" thing if you're Metallica playing the Double Door but when marketing a 35K pair of speakers a bit more lead time would have been better......even if it IS Klipsch.

I attended on Sunday. My 1st stop and last stop were the Klipsch room. I was very impressed with the Jubilee. They live up to the hype, which honestly I was pessimistic about. I was disappointed that I missed Roy, he was not there Sunday. They were the 2nd best set up I heard behind the Avantgarde Trio, which given the price difference is quite a feat. I was not able to listen to a couple of the ultra high end rooms like Wynn audio (too crowded) and the Focal Utopias were not playing when I was in there. So from what I did hear, Klipsch did great! I was also very impressed with a room featuring Usher speakers. There was a room set up with a small pair of Devore Fidelity floor standers that blew me away. They were the most impressive speaker for the size. I don't have all of my info with me to provide details. Maybe I'll add more info later.

Agree with your points

The media types already attending the show probably stopped by for a listen

and to interview Mr Delgado

We'll know what happened in a couple of weeks

I might scan Youtube for any new reviews in a couple of days

AMPS

I liked the sound of the Bryston amp

Sounds like the old Yamaha MX Series amps that I love

Just a quick impression

Beautiful, clear and  sweet mid range at low volume

Too many of the rooms have the gear screaming at the listener

I go by female vocal at low volume for lifelike human voice

If it fails female voice, I lose interest completely

I only need 30 seconds

A lot of gear falls on it's face with female voice at any volume

speakers and amps regardless of room tuning

To do a lab evaluation with your ears would require everything other the amp stays the same

and you rotate amps while listening to the same song over and over.

Vendors were 90% streaming music this year, limited offering as I discovered by the service

so much for every song ever recorded.

Some really expensive gear failed miserably on this song, Nicks

This what they had

I would find this better if they had it

Should sound like she is 10ft in front of you

I agree with the point on female vocals. Women have done more to influence my gear, cap, and tube choices/rolls than they will ever know. If the equipment fails this test there's gonna be other problems too. "Rumors" in in my "30 stack" - the stack of discs I use to make basic assessments as to what is happening in my systems, especially the 2 channel.

I dont really see many reviews of the Klipsch room from youtube influencers that show the Jubilee... I find this curious.

Jay's facial expression at 1:44 says it all. As much as I don't like to admit it, I agree.
