WMcD
I recommend it as sort of an art film. Certainly not straightforward . . . which is good. The boys gave it two thumbs-up. Perhaps for that reason. I think it is about tigers in India. That gives away nothing. Let us know what you think. Gil
neomartic
M night sucks... hasn't made any good movies... just look to signs for proof of that. it got 6 out of 10 stars. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368447/
meuge
Signs could have gotten two more stars if the movie had ended 5 minutes earlier. ~ Spoiler alert (for Signs) ~ If the movie ended when the alien's reflection appeared on the TV screen it would have been great. The profound epiphany and 'faith reborn' ending spoiled my appetite for the day.
neomartic
yea and the whole water deal was pretty lame. like that hasn't been done a billion times!
Underhanded Penguin
I have to say I completely disagree with everybody's opinion so far. I like M Night. I thought Unbreakable and Signs are the best of his movies. I loved the epiphany ending. And I was quite disappointed with The Village. There you have it. There's something for everyone. Juba310
I still think the Sixth Sense was his best work. The others are just "meh". I've yet to see the Village though.

popbumper
No doubt, loved Unbreakable - what an original premise. I also liked Signs, though it was a bit more "hokey". I had not seen the Sixth Sense until just about a month ago - wow, what a film. Have yet to see the Village.... I think M. Night is a unique director, a bit on the "Hitchcock" vein.... marksdad
definatly hitchcockish, i too have liked much of his work, some are a bit hokey, but all said he has good ideas and presents them well
neomartic
I don't like him, all his movies are the same, they all have the same kind of twist in the end. Like the sixth sense(even though i liked it) and signs and unbreakable. I think I'll be able to predict his next movies ending after seeing the first half of it. Joe Shmoe
I just watched this tonight & I thought it was pretty good. Yes there was the twist at the end, and I thought it was pretty ingenious, quite unexpected. I also liked Signs, Sixth Sense & unbreakable. I would definitley saythis movie is worth a rent. Foxman
I own all 4 movies and while I don't think the Village is quite the same quality overall as sixth sense I still like it. Of the 4 I'd rate them Sixth Sense Unbreakable Signs The Village With that said I really like all 4.
toddvj
I thought it was too predictable. I loved his other three movies.
synthfreek
Everyone wants to forget the movies he directed before Sixth Sense.
SteelerFan
I don't think The Village was all that bad. I was "creeped out" for awhile there until I figured it out. Yeah, a little hokey, but still I was entertained.
jacksonbart
The Village was good that it was different. The sound was great, really encompassing and deep bass and gave a sense of being there. (scare the s out of my wife) Like most M Knight movies, I will not watch many times over. though cool idea. Hitchcock is in a different league as of right now. My personal favorites are Vertigo, Rear Window or North by Northwest. IMO Sixth Sense was the best and the closest comparison. That said I hope M. Knight or others get there or best those films. rpittman
Sixth Sense and Signs are my favorites from M Night. When I saw the ending of Village, I thought you have got to be kidding. I just didn't care for the story.
Moderators Amy Posted February 15, 2005 Moderators Share Posted February 15, 2005 I've loved all his movies... esp. The Sixth Sense. I watched The Village in the context of a Twilight Zone episode. That worked for me. I thought it was very well done, and just the right amount of creepiness. In the vein of creepy, I also watched The Grudge recently. WAY too much creepiness and difficult/exhausting to watch. Over the top. Has anyone seen Saw? I'm on a horror film binge, for some reason. Be sure to rent Audition (in your foreign film section--Japanese).
