J.4knee
Yeah these are the ones a guy asked about restoring and then did this to them. If that is in fact a 1985 cabinet and he beat the top off with a mallet to inspect the woofer I am just... well wow that was determination. He did give us a look inside the doghouse. I believe he got them from his neighbors garbage. He reported that he thought tweeters and woofers were bad. He was given some sound advise and then did this to them or maybe he did it first but anyway he destroyed more than likely restorable set of La Scalas. Assuming its the same guy. I understand the circumstantial evidence point to this being true.
Daddy Dee
There is bad weather on the way to Tampa, too.
Olorin
I don't think he earned THAT much bad karma.
neo33
I have never seen pictures of the "woofer" inside the "folded" horn section of the 'Scala!
Deang
Here you go Neo. It's not the LaScala -- but gives you a good idea of what's happening inside. http://www.volvotreter.de/khorn.htm
kenratboy
So, if I am not mistaken, he did the computer equivalent of taking a chip and splitting it open to check if it worked?
neo33
Thanks, Dean. That's quite amazing how the bass horn work!

I plan on posting a series of build pics INCLUDING plans from Klipsch on my website in the next couple of weeks.
fini
John, I never checked out your website before. Nice stuff! I have it bookmarked, and will consider the JBL 2404H tweeter when I eventually get several loads of my sh!t together...BTW, what's the built price on these (for a 1980 Khorn, AA XO)? You can PM or email me...
hwatkins
John and Fini - I have my first mock up cabinet of my JBL project that includes the 2404. Just a quick note - WOW. Great HF tweeter - smooth and very clean. It may well be on my list to replace T35/K77 somewhere down the road.
fini
Henry, Where did you pick them up?
John Warren
he used a "wooden" mallet, as if that is supposed to make me feel better about it.
John Warren
Henry- The JBL needs some attenuation, it is more efficient than the T35.
boomer9911
now that was priceless, lmao, save me on days\weeks of work...sounds like it would take a couple of months to do them...love the mallet part...WHAM...

If he had used a claw hammer, sorry, that would have been a deal breaker for me.
fini
He would have done even less marring of the surface if he'd used Dave Mallet. BTW, where is Dave??
