Klipschguy
http://www.bobhodas.com/tissue.html Here's the Yamaha NS-10M mod Tom Brennan was probably referring to in his recent post. Andy P.S. Could some one please repost the link so it can just be clicked on without having to type it in.
fini
How's this?
Klipschguy
Fini, I couldn't get the link to work. Thanks, though. Andy
Daddy Dee
Klipschguy, Thanks. I had no idea it was a serious mod.
fini
Sorry about that, Andy! I fixed it. To see how you do these link things, click on the "reply" button for my post (the one with the link), and you can see the HTML code used. This technique works for checking out how someone has posted a picture, too. Very useful when you want to know how someone has centered an image, or has alligned it on the right side, etc.
dkp
Hmmmm, interesting post. I didn't see any data on frequency attenuation by placing said Kleenex in ones ears though. Maybe that will be in the next issue?
mike stehr
"I decided to run comparative tests on different brands and varieties of tissue, paper towels and toilet paper. I went to the grocery store and bought about $30 worth of the above items" Imagine the look on the clerk's face.....
Marvel
That's one of the dumbest read I've seen in a long time. I don't know anyone who likes those Yamaha's. Marvel
dubai2000
Fini, I am surely blind (hopefully not deaf, too), but I cannot spot any HTML info when following your suggestion??? . Wolfram

Klipschguy
Thanks for the tip Fini! BTW, Tom Brennan seems to like this mod on his Heresys. Andy
D-MAN
Reminds me of the saying "put a sock in it!". The tissue paper thing is clearly stupid. Let's sell them some monitors WITH THE TISSUE ALREADY BUILT IN! We'll make a fortune. Quick! we need to patent the idea! DM
TBrennan
What I thought was stupid was to continue to let that damned cheesy T-35 continue to drill holes through my head and not see if I could do something about it short of using a Fostex or JBL tweeter or selling the speakers. Marvel
Tom, I thought you would replace the driver. I could see you doing this at home but don't you think it's pretty wonky in a studio setting? Marvel
dodger
My first take on this was "and people say that we have too much time on our hands." Then I figured that perhaps the writer did not purchase enough bathroom tissue. White of course. dodger

Klipschguy
NosValves, TBrennan is right about those T35's in his Heresys. I actually got rid of my Heresys for the same reason. And yes, I did try them with tubes - an immaculately restored Fisher 500C. The Heresys still "drilled holes" with the Fisher (and everything else). Funny, I actually thought about putting a little damping in front of my tweeters to. The Heresy tweeter needs a little attenuation IMHO. But if they float your boat, please don't take offense. Everyone has a sound they are looking for - so choose carefully and punt when necessary. Andy
dodger
When I modified my Heresys, I also used the Dyna Mat on the tweeters. So between bracing, deadening the cabinets and Dynamatting the horns, to me they sound great. dodger
TBrennan
Craig asks---"Ever think of getting a descent amp and source ?" What, you mean like something you sell? No thanks, If I want an equalizer I'll get it at Guitar Center.
