Matt from England
My system: Linn LP12 Dynavector 17D Mk II Dynavector P75 Phonostage Unison Research Simply Four Valve amplifier (set to Triode mode) running 4 x 6CA7s in place of normal EL34s (Old and barely used Rotel RCD 951 CDP) Klipsch Chorus II in black And most importantly a damn big grin every time I fire her up... Guess I must be one of the very few owners, (if not the only one) of the Chorus (I or II) living in Portugal. Great info here and I have spent a good time lurking but finally registered tonight. Music tastes consist of Jazz, Classical for 80 % of the time, the rest whatever I dig from the pile. Anyway, hope I'm welcome. Matt from England (now living in Portugal). Audio Flynn
Welcome! I was certain people around the world apreciated the finer points of the Chorus IIs. [] The Linn TT sounds like a real "smashing" rig. Moved to Portugal? Did you have to turn in your "IPA" for red wine?
SCOOTERDOG
Hey Matt! Welcome to our little corner of the world. Stop lurking and dive in. Lots of great people from all over around here. Must be great to crank up the Chorus around your parts and have everyone wonder where they can get some. A big Klipsch grin is something to be proud of. Again, Welcome! lynnm
Welcome Home!! I have a lovely old Ariston RD80sl which is the equivalent of the first LP12 with an Grace 707 tonearm and a Shure V15 III. It is one great sounding combo!! I recently replaced the Sovtech EL34s in my already superb Antique Sound Lab AQ1003dt with ElectroHarmonics 6CA7s. The improvement was NOT subtle---particularly in the bass and midrange. I look forward to your contributions to our little audiophile funny farm. Stick around and you will find yourself awash in audio expertise. jbsl
Glad to have ya aboard!! I have wanted to visit Portugal and England for a long time but I always seem to spend my money on something but can not figure out what. Lynnm I also changed out the Sevtlana EL 34s for EH 6CA7s in my Cayin TA 30 back in June and you are right the bass is much better and the midrange is much smoother. The 34s had a more forward, hard sound. I think I'm going to order some EH KT-90s. My Merlin should be here middle of next week so I want to have a variety of tubes for the amp.
