oldtimer
Man! Is it just me or is the forum really slow today? All the other websites pop right up on my cable connection. Anyway, one hint already given, here's more: The name of the song is a place, and the place name is derived from an Italian.....

Lostinozz
That would be Powderfinger from the Cowboy Junkies. Here's an easy one; Last time I checked my bankroll, It was getting thin Sometimes it seems like the bottom Is the only place I've been
theryugobuddy
That would be Powderfinger from the Cowboy Junkies. Here's an easy one; Last time I checked my bankroll, It was getting thin Sometimes it seems like the bottom Is the only place I've been I didn't realize the Cowboy Junkies did Powderfinger. Neil Young wrote it and its on the same album as My My Hey Hey--Rust Never Sleeps--his best album IMHO. And its a rip snorting version, if you haven't heard it
Lostinozz
Try this; When I woke up this morning, things were lookin' bad Seem like total silence was the only friend I had Bowl of oatmeal tried to stare me down... and won And it was twelve o'clock before I realized That I was havin' .. no fun
twheats1
Sounds like "Illegal Smile" by John Prine. How about; "I thought I had your number, There must be some mistake. I dialed six, three, seven, eleven, eighty-eight. I got some geezer, said his girlfriends on the town. I said "I got the wrong number" and slammed the phone down." Jeff Matthews
Wheats, you've stumped us. Time to interject a new challenge. "Gotta black bre[a]st Chinese eyes Got an English brain that's gonna make me wise." Name that Tune! P.S. Apparently, "bre[a]st" is a bad word and gets filtered. Jeff Matthews
Here's a few more lines: "Really got a lot of lovin' that I wanna giveBaby I'm a mystery but you know I gotta live" This band has been referred to as the beginning of Heavy Metal. It is off of their 1970 album.
Jeff Matthews
Where are the Regulars? Another hint. The most notable lead singer of this band joined Black Sabbath briefly to record their "Neon Nights" album. Then, he returned to the band that made him famous. The band in question was world-reknowned, so this is not something obscure.

Jeff Matthews
Hey, Buddy! How's it going? You got the band. I gave you a year. Coincidentally, your avatar is remotely similar to the album cover. I also heard the name of this song used for another word to describe lawyers!
