hornnuts
Check out the begginning of Sexy Beast, when the boulder comes down the mountain... I have tested a number of subs with it. The RSW-12 handeled it the best...
TheEAR
Yes people LOTR both of them and Gladiator are class movies with awesome sights and sound. T2 used to be a reference, its no longer as impressive since the Terminator is in politics. LOL fini, Your Dinner with Andre the Giant is also a good 5-7 movie

leprechaun
These three are unbelieveable: 1.) Lion King - Special DVD Edition on 5.1 mode. Whole thing. 2.) Titan AE - (Hsu Research used this movie to demo their subs (Convinced me to buy one). Whole thing, but especially Scene 19 - Building a Planet. 3.) U-571 - Scene 15 - Depthcharged. Joe Shmoe
I second the vote for Ice Age, I used the squirrel intro for quite a while to show off. I cannot believe no-one has mentioned BadBoys 2, the whole soundtrack is just thumpin the whole time!
BBB
"Underworld" will give your system a good pounding. Warning: Keep your hands near the volume control.
RickB
You're right about Underworld, whoever mixed that movie must have been deaf. I rode the volume control the whole movie.
Jordan
Haven't read the whole thread but I just watched ID4(Independence Day) and I thought it was awesome, a really good movie.
leprechaun
I just tjhought of another one: Saving Private Ryan - apart from the obvious explosions, bullets wizzing by, etc. - when the newly recruited bunch is walking through the field - you can actually hear the blades of grass in the wind. NOT kidding. Good test of your center channel.
0_o
this movie everyone should rent or own, just for it's music score .. if you're into classical ... Together. It's a Chinese based film so u have to go with Subtitles... But the music though out the film is great. U can't help but maxing out the volume when watching it. the Film is released by MGM in the states. For Music Glen Danzig : Black Aria . It's actually classical based music, 360 turn from his punk and hard rock roots. If you like bass and dark mood Classical this will have your sub humming the entire CD. . Also the Anime Jin-Roh is pretty good on the surround aspect. If you can play multi regions on your DVD grab the original Japanese DVD .it comes in DD5.1 or DTS . The films US release is a little week on the digital sound... And if watch it dubbed in English the voice over really is poor and translation is bad. but the Subbed Japanese version and US version is done well. In this Anime the environmental effects are top notch. when someone is running in the sewer behind the character u actually feel like someone is behind out or it the character is between two people and the people are talking u feel like u r stuck between the two people ... IN the beginning there is a part that has u in the sewers... there's a huge fire fight... the sound is muffled on purp. the director wanted to give the effect of how one would feel / hear ", when a ton of bullets are fired in a closed space .. the cuncusion of the burst fire and the echoing of sound would litterally make your ears clog up and have a ringing muffled sound..hard to truly translate japanese to english and his meaning completely, The Movie is an excellent flick... too. the plot and story line is made for adults. total mind trip at the end in away. So DVD's Jin-Roh & Together Music : Black Aria , Glen Danzig song can be found here on me page > http://www.geocities.com/labyrinthmind/night_vision.html
krustyoldsarge
"Say YES YES YES!" Ben Kingsley in Sexy Beast portrayed one of the toughest gangsters I can remember in cinema! I've got 20+ gangster/mafia films. My HT system is still 2 channel (with ChorusII's, I'm not convinced I need more yet). Some of the movies that shine on my system are: Casino (especially the opening scene with the Bach intro) Saving Private Ryan True Lies The Killing Fields (I thought the mortars were incoming to my living room) Master and Commander, the Far Side of the World (cannon shots) The Last Samurai (battle Scenes. visually stunning tribute to Kurosawa) I'm going to rewatch Ran by Kurosawa to hear if its sound matches the stunning visual. And finally folks, the greatest movie EVER made, (drum roll please): Joe's Apartment I ask you, what can match cockroaches singing Funk, Surf, C&W etc for a total movie experience! Rdmarsiii
In Pearl Harbor, when the Japanese drop the bombs in the water, the splashes sound like crap IMO.
RBM
I don't think anyone has mentioned Open Range. The opening rain scene and the gun fight towards the end in DTS-EX. The shotgun blast make your hair stand up. With my SW-12 11 and RW-10 you can feel the blast in your chest.
mandi
Haunted Mansion Just watched it with the kids. Pretty good sound. Lots of crickets, and some slamming shutters does a sound check all around your room, first one just happened to be in the speaker by the front door. Had us all jumpin, the dog ran to the door barking. After the movie I had to go back to that scene a few times to check different setups and volumns. endover
I didn't have time to read every post in here but I was surprised I didn't see the Mummy and Mummy returns listed anywhere.... I have to duct tape my dishes down in the kitchen when this movie's on....and it's continuous! The horses, the tombs, the fight scenes..... You name it....It continuous "sound overload" thru the whole movies....!!!!!
Guest Damen Bonner
Drumline is a GOOD 1. That movie has some serious, what's the word; drumlines.
Lurch
Check out Timeline. You may have to hit the "I Believe" button a few times, but the sound is very good and the picture is as well. As far as Pearl Harbor goes, I would be far too busy pointing out the gross inaccuracies as well as the problem of having a pilot who joins the RAF, scoots over to the AAC (Army Air Corps) for Pearl Harbor, and then suddenly starts flying bombers to hit Tokyo with Doolittle. I broke my "I Believe" button on this movie. They might as well have had the Titantic berthed in the harbor for this movie! Jeff
