Wardsweb
I have added to the stable yet another rack of SAE gear. This one isalmost like the one I use in my office. The difference is I don't havea reel to reel in my office and I do run the SAE E102 equalizer at work.
oldtimer
Wow Luther! I can't believe there was room for that and the Forte II's....in boxes. That is a sweet rack (Probably the first time I've said that about audio gear?)
arfandbark
How nice. You even have the SAE rack. How does it sound???
Wardsweb
How nice. You even have the SAE rack. How does it sound??? Actually, the rack is from the Middle Atlantic SLIM5 line. I used two of these in my old home theater setup. When I changed that system, I gave one away and kept one. The SAE blank panel makes it look like an SAE rack. The real difference is the SAE racks sides were pressboard and the Middle Atlantics are powder coated steel. As for sound, it is nice ( not as nice as tubes, but thats just me). There is plenty of headroom with 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The system is flexible with a reel to reel, cd, tuner and cassette. Frzninvt
Love the classy look of that old school SAE gear, I remember seeing it in the Ramstein AB, GE BX around '86'-'89 or so. Very cleanly laid out.
IndyKlipschFan
After meeting you, I have no doubt this was way super cool to add to your system too! Great find.. Are they shelves or screw ins for your equipment on your rack? I have debated the open rack verses the HT glass front racks for some time. Everything fits for now.. Just not to sure how long it would, if I added yet one more thing? hahahahaha Roger

Just not to sure how long it would, if I added yet one more thing? hahahahaha Roger The equipment is rack mountable. So all pieces are held in with rack screws. You can not see them because I have trim strips that cover the screws. There are 1U filler panels between the pieces of gear and a SAE 4U panel below the amp. Here is a picture of it playing as I type this.
kaiser SET say
Nice Luther, Nakamichi used that cassette tray design for their auto line player in the mid 80's[] Currently driving my Las with the RC3 at 30WPC[]
Groomlakearea51
Love the classy look of that old school SAE gear, I remember seeing it in the Ramstein AB, GE BX around '86'-'89 or so. Very cleanly laid out. An outstanding rack system!!! Great Score; Reminds me too of the "old days"!!! Superb look to it and looks like it works perfectly. Had an old SAE PE long time ago, and still regret selling it. But,... the proceeds went to my first pair of K-horn's, so I should not complain...[H]
Wardsweb
Yes it is a bit "old school" but I remember lusting for it when I was in high school. I guess I'm reliving part of my childhood. Here is a shot taken by the light of my monitor.
