  1. Congratulations. I have 990pro 250 ohm for many years. Just keep ready new set of velour pads. Originals have a tendency to flatten and stay that way, which may change the sound. Avoid the leather pads also, totally different sound. And with many amps/preamps these cans don't sound that good. But when you hit the right combo, they can sing. The best I heard them with are Yamaha A-S line of amps. And Yamaha pro gear, do not have to be expensive ones.
  2. I know that medium format film provide for a better dynamic range than 35mm film (full format πŸ˜‡). I have seen photos from medium format Hasselblads with digital backs, Phase One... also better DR. I have seen photos made with MF digital blads, also a better DR. I have seen photos made with Fuji MF cameras, not so. Many variables comes into play with digital, but I am also not so good with 0 and 1 to tell what is the weakest link regarding DR. It is wort investigating.
  3. Medium format should give you more dynamic range in photos.
  4. That is why sometimes having a physical medium helps. I was cleaning my father attic and found a developed color print film in sleeves. I took those photos in 1998. Gave them to the lab to digitize them and make the usual prints and voila, no color loss in spite the sleeves were exposed to cold and hot environment for many years.
  5. As I read the question, Schu is in the market on DIGITAL medium format. Many of us have or have used film medium format, but that is not relevant here. And no, I have not used one. I believe that Ken Rockwell gave a good insight on GSX 50R (not S) https://www.kenrockwell.com/fuji/gfx-50r.htm
  6. Just for an experiment, I got a basic USB cable (Norstone Arran, USB 2.0), OFC copper. Connection: USB A (to Win11 laptop) - USB B (to Musical Fidelity DAC). Sounds much cleaner than connection with 3,5mm to Cinch cable.

    Horology...

Happy to see my basic G-Shock go off only few secs per year. It is a bit disappointing that it is made in China (not even Thailand), but accuracy is more than good for a quartz. It has not been abused nor under water, but it has seen many bike rides on rough roads. Plastic/rubber material is not as good as I remember but I can not complain for the asking price.
  8. Looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for posting photos. What were the speakers on stage?
  9. Same as above - nothing embarrassing in trying to experiment, does not have too look nice and trying to save money. I might try that with my RF42 II, just for fun πŸ˜‚
  10. Marcello Gandini died at 85. https://www.motor1.com/news/712286/marcello-gandini-dead/
  11. DIY Xypex nc400 mono blocks fall roughly in that category. Not sure if you will hear significant improvement. I have them and they are what you described above: clean, a bit bright and very detailed. Some say that having two power supplies (one in each monoblock) result with better performance than integrated amp. You can give them a try.
  12. I occasionally use laptop that way if I wanna hear how a particular track, usually from youtube, sounds on my system. Headphone jack from laptop and cable with cinch connectors on the other end into a preamp. The sound is a bit more muffled than from other sources, but that may be for various reasons. The cable connecting laptop and preamp is also cheap.
  13. I had in same system Knukonzeptz 10 AWG and silver VandenHull, and if you really push me I could maybe tell that Knu seemed a bit warmer in bass and Hull was a bit brighter in highs. ☺️
  14. Many forum members would have their hi-fi systems with cables of significant length. If your components cabinet is on a side-wall and speakers on the wall left or right (or even oposit) to the cabinet, the length of speaker cables will be more than you had until now. There are threads where forum members discussed that before. To my memory, use 12 or 10 AWG speaker cable and you should be fine. KnuKonzeptz Kord ultraflex comes to mind as a flexible and reasonably priced cable.
