  1. I was once out drinking one very cold winter's night When I thought I'd lay myself down to rest In a big hill of deep snow I laid there in the cold and felt frost caressing my face As I fell asleep and dreamed I dreamed I was visited by archeologists of the future This really blew my mind when they asked about this fossil they found……. Yep, now that my Rip Van Winkle moment has passed, sure seems to be the right time for that pot of hot coffee.......

  2. Morning guys. Don't be too concerned about Carl's loss of income. OT tells me Carl owns a big portion of Texas The sun is shining but it's still in the 30s. Too cold for these old southern bones. Cleaning out the dining room....getting ready for the painter tomorrow. Tomorrow up to 68...so Jake will get to go to the dog park. Later LF and I will go down to the riverfront and catch sunset, have a cocktail and maybe some She crab soup. Waiting for the dac to ship. Having fun creating play list on Spotify. Must have a 1000 tunes by now. For all you retirees......it's Saturday. Cheers Gents

  3. Sitting here at the end of a workweek drinking coffee - stalling before heading out to the truck. It's 15 degrees and winds are 35-50mph gusting to 80mph. Not so fun, but reading posts and sipping coffee is a nice stall tactic. Ok coat on, deep breath, 3... 2... 1... RUN! Thank you Lord for autostaaaaaaaaaaaaart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....

  4. Breakfast isn't much this morning, but coffee is always there. Getting ready to head to the store for some pork butt to put on the smoker. Then off to my son's basketball game. Maybe some tinkering in the garage.

  5. Gary I'm painting the room a Golden Cactus Flower.....trying to not be as conservative as previous attempts. The large foyer will be Golden Kiwi.....a bit lighter. The gold tone will pick up the fine line in the fabric of the dining room chairs. Used a Sherwin Williams visualizer program to see how it would look. It will be a change from the boring color on the walls now. Wish me luck!

  9. Feeling a little guilty this morning. I'm enjoying my nice warm coffee while the wind continues to howl. I feel bad because getting the dog (Great Dane) to go outside right now is an understandable negation process. I open the door and he looks at me like "are you serious?" I'm very sympathetic but all I can offer is to advise him to go deeper into the trees for as much wind block as possible. The gusts to 75mph have the house sounding like we're on the rocking ship in Master and Commander. We still have power and for that I am very grateful. Happy Saturday all!

  13. Just go to the Sherwin Williams site and click on visualizer. You have to take pictures of your room and load them. Choose the paint you are considering and click and drag over to your room photos. Its a little crude but you get an idea. My painter works in a Benjamin Moore paint store and paints on the side for about $10-12 bucks an hour. I hate to paint so its worth it to have him do it.

  15. Ok, back on track.... Here is the music selection and Hornsby is on at this moment.... Coffee is the Starbucks French roast. These mugs are from a wonderful Inn up in Maine we visit each year in the fall.... What is interesting about these is, the image is actually etched into the ceramic and facing outward if your are right handed... They also come in green, but we are partial to the cobalt blue (0; Breakfast this morning will be baked grapefruit, I will post when they are done and ready to eat ;0)

  16. They recommend plug vehicles in at 20 (up here), I usually plug in at the minus teens and lower. Mrs gets the garage so shes set. :-) Incidentally, I have never seen Black List but apparently there is an Alaska reference in one of the new episodes and they show a shot of Anchorage but label it Juneau. Some in our state took enough umbrage with it that it made the local news. So please make the mental correction when you see it - it's "really" important. ;-) I expect a Brian Williams report shortly to clear this up!

  17. Looks like original equipment, never seen ugly wire like that anywhere else. Edit : Ok opened the ebay link, you would have to be crazy to buy that, or extremely anal about strictly original parts.

  18. I think back to playing with cherry bombs, bb gun wars, wandering the fields with our shotguns as tweeners, being dropped far from home to camp in isolated woods by a river, and all the other things we did growing up and I suppose it is a miracle that I don't recall either any serious injuries or even a broken bone in the neighborhood growing up. I actually think most of our parents considered these thing acceptable risks and part of leaning how to survive and develop good judgment. "Good judgment comes from exercising bad judgment." Mixed emotions about today's "all of you are SPECIAL" and totally protective environment and personally quite glad I was raised in another time. Dave

  21. Morning Gang Just got in from 30+ hrs babysitting a disaster assistance center up north, need Nap. My assistance hours are filled for the month, Up near and on, BealAFB loading trucks with empty ready-to-go sandbags. My worst Coffee is better than ANY military coffee, even Duggans did not help it, gave the Duggans to a Loadmaster who seemed to love the stuff in his Coffee. The Funding for this Disaster asst, comes from Homeland security, through CalFire, then local control is handled by the Sheriffs Dept who we take our orders from, an easy way to stay a sworn Deputy in later years.

  22. Thanks, Chuck. Would your painter come to Colorado?? Great rate. Also Benjamin Moore paint is an all-time favorite, although not cheap. I'm not real handy in a lot of respects, but painting was something I used to be good at until my back got messed up. I just hate paying top dollar for it!!

  26. Wow Dave, that is really something! 75 mph winds would have me VERY concerned with my two 90' pines on the front lawn ! Guess your home is used to that kind of wind pressure? No cracks in the joints ? Calm with light snow flurrys for the moment. Going to get outside shortly to slowblow a 'hallway' on the front and rear lawns so that I may walk and use my roof rake... Have another 10 to 16 inches coming to the NE. over the next day or two! Anyone else ? Ok, I'll check in a bit later.. ..............gw

  27. Yes, that is a real pisser Carl! At first, thought those wires/cables were shaped in the form of a coffee cup. Early yet. First cup. New Iconic look for topic. Have strange half thoughts at times. More coffee. Thinking that all coffee bean types would work for a cold rendering, as long as roasted. There is something appealing about the idea of concentrated coffee ready to go with a heatup. Work today and tomorrow. Guess I can call it that. Friend that is in Minnesota for a few months now speaks of having a plugin device that, I suppose protects the block of car. Guessing the radiator gets some benefit as well(?) Nancy is asking me if I want to go to Maine in August for a niece's wedding. Her sister may go with her instead but, doesn't like to fly. Missed a trip to DC years ago with my Ex due to hunting season. She went Amtrak. Sometimes have regretted my decision as a modern trainride would maybe be a hoot. Guess we still have an option to do Amtrak from Florida to around Old Town , Maine. Of course guess we could do car trip. Enjoying the posting here !

  28. Chuck, good luck with your painting project. We're getting bids, too. Just need to get one that's reasonable. Denver area painters are VERY proud of their work, unfortunately. That visualizer idea is cool....how does it work? Cheers, gang.

  29. Very cool Sportster! Glad he is enjoying them (0: Chuck, I figured you would be into blue.... I saw your formal dining area and noted the blue tones.... Is that being changed out now with the new paint scheme? Will talk about music in a bit... But first, (as the grapefruit is baking), I figured I better pick up the pieces, and decided to assemble them before tossing ;0) more shortly..... Hornsby concluded, Herb Alpert up next...

  34. Garyrc- I have listed them as a full range large speaker in my Emotiva Fusion 8100 with low frequency effects going to just the subs. For music I listen "direct" without the subs. For added bass I just hit "stereo" which adds the subs, or "all stereo" which fires up the Heresy's and surrounds. Truthfully it's just too much bass with the subs. I have them cut at 80hz along with my centers and surrounds. Today I was listening to the Black Eyed Peas and added the subs in. It was hitting so hard that I passed out and crapped my pants. When the CD was over I woke up and felt weird. Now every window I walk past I have to lick it. Weird.

  35. Here they are at the factory last week. In the photo are the two builders, the quality control person, and the packer. I really appreciate the attention to detail. These are nothing short of miraculous! They blow my La Scalas paired with my subs away. They didn't fill the house with sound quite like these do. American craftsmanship at its finest!

  37. Afternoon guys..... Late start today, just downed my 2nd cup. Was up late last night and didn't leave the shop till 10:30. I've been working on my new toolbox/toolcart, been making a metal worktop for it. Oh Gary the broken mug.....that sucks.....one of my prized mugs got broken a few years back. It was one of my Honda mugs that I got from the Honda training center way back in 1987. It had my name on it we got these when traing was done. I did glue it back together and it's on my desk with pens in it. Chuck my man I am with you with the painting thing........I do not paint......well the only painting I do is spray can or spray gun lol lol Joe it sounds like your on a "crazy train"...... lol lol.....keep it rolling..... OK guys I'm going to roll out to the shop....check in later... MKP :-)

  38. Good morning coffee gang... Got a rude awakening while reaching into the upper cabinet when one of my long time acquired celestial mugs escaped my grasp! Bounced to the counter just fine, but continued to the tile floor which destroys anything that lands on it )0: Ok, got some different ones assembled for the next photo....

  39. I have 4 kids, 13 year old triplets 2 girls and a boy and a 10 year old boy. They all have their own personalities and likes. I literally just got back from taking the triplets to see Black Veil Brides. For those who don't know who they are, it's Nicky Sixx's brother's band.I actually crowd surfed with them. What I can say is all the kids have one like denominator- Music. We've gone to 3 concerts in the last 6 months, and I am getting ready to take them to 2 more in the next 2 months, and 2 more following within 4 months after that. They all like similar music, but at the same time have their own types they listen to. The funny thing is,they like the same music I like from 80's and up. We actually play rock band together still and I have uploaded 495 songs on PS3 for it. Each one has their own headphones but they don't use them. They walk around the house playing it on their phones or pads and make sure they tell each other to lower the music so they can hear theirs playing. Enjoy it Joe with them and get them into more and more music. I had my youngest with me at a renaissance fair about 5 years ago,and we were waiting for the joust matches to start. So he and I were in the bleachers with about 100 people and we got almost everyone in the bleachers to sing along to Journey's Anyway You Want It Acapella, and then Social Distortions version of Ring of Fire. The funny thing is he knew every word to both songs and everyone was cheering him on as we sang. We've met several groups at their concerts and as a family this is one of the best things we do together for fun.

  44. Is there some overwhelmingly compelling reason why you would need to make comments like this? I don't get it. This lady has been nothing but extremely nice, and obviously is looking for help on an item that she initially knows little about, but is trying to learn....We all have mis-identified something in the past, so what? These comments are not helpful. Other parts of your text may be, but including these negative, disparaging statements just degrades the rest of your supposed contribution. Lighten up.
