  1. Good Morning All. Friday has arrived and I have 9 hours before the weekend. I have a buddy coming in from Houston. He is brining his Tascam DA-3000 digital recorder. We are going to record all my master reel to reel tapes to DSD files.

  5. Evening Gang Just finished squirting exactly one half of the MCM stacks. Dam long day, need to hire a kid to help with prepping the other stack. Dam sure not used to being on my feet 10+ hours, i think i was 6 hours into today before i thought of having a beer, totaly spaced it, was to involved in the work i guess. They look new, impervious coating this Upol is, exactly the same texture as Klipsch factory, but just a tad shiny. 3 Quarts these took @ $25 Per Qt. Back hurts, time for another libation.

  7. Thank you JL They are truly wonderful people. I was blessed with both. He has raised me since I was 3...and have never thought of him as anything but my father (my real father passed when I was very young). If you are familiar with Brad Paisleys song Man He Didn't Have To Be....I've always felt that it was written about him...truly an amazing Husband, Father and Best Friend. And honestly one of the most talented people I've ever know....I feel like there is nothing he cannot do/make/build/fix/teach....I am the man I am today because of him. And my wife Susan...Pioneer Woman is all that comes to mind....we grew up together from the age of 5...dated on and off through Jr/Sr High School. Both got divorced around the same time and both moved back to our hometown where we ran back into each other...and this is where we find ourselves now 6 years later.

  8. Morning Gang Looking around the backyard, touchy/feely, Upol has worked well. Will just let the McMs set for a day, good day in the heat will offgas the finish. Day of rest, as well as the weekend. 80s low 90 i like just fine. Next week we get a neighborhood trash P/U where you can stack anything you wish in the gutter and the county cleans it up. Wife and i will attack the entire front yard, gutting flowerbed(s), and basicly stripping out everything dead. Out of Guinness Blond, HaggenDaz, Duggans and energy, well my Friday is starting off just Peachy.

  10. Morning gang, nothing like a power sandwich for breakfast. Turkey sausage, fried egg white, spinach, colby jack cheese on multi grain bread. Coffee is good, a little to good, days like this I wish I could call the boss and tell him I am not coming in. Unfortunately I have to run, catch you guys later.

  16. Guys & girls, too, NOT Puffing Cigars &/or a Pipe can be EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

  17. guys, puffing is very dangerous. Alcohol not cutting it anymore? took a huge whiff a brasso when i was in bootcamp hoping to cop a buzz -- felt like someone stuck a shotgun up my nose and blew the back of my head off….didn’t get high; but, got a headache. hey…i was 17 when i went to bootcamp…and i was only slightly dumber than i am now…i wonder if it was the brasso?

  19. What is her type of choice: mig, tig, stick or acetylene? So far Mig with Argon and Stick with Lincoln 7018 H8 sticks dad is gonna let her get used to the wirefeed Mig before teaching her how to Tig Ahh, good old 7018, my personal Fav is 6011, once she gets into that wire feed you know what's going to happen, she will say the hell with those Sticks!

  22. Ok people will be going again for 7-10 days, I'm not ignoring you, not directly at least. I have to go, I need to try out Carl's suggestion, Cabo Wabo Reposado, and whatever else pops up.

  23. No way, couldn't possibly be the problem at least you didn't like it and never did it again. Here’s my advice to you…stay off the Brasso.

  28. 7018 is good for properly prepared steel and rods are kept in a oven, etc. 60 series good for down and dirty, through the paint or rust with wet welding rod kind of welding. That stuff I do all the time LOL.

  34. There's this product I used recently on a door frame called something like liquid wood. It actually has wood fibers in it and is easier to work with than bondo. Of course bondo for metal but this stuff for wood is pretty sweet.

  37. I was lucky enough to see Hendrix as a kid in the UK, he played the Civic Hall in Grays, Essex on February 14th 1967. My sister has Hendrix, Mitchell and Reddings autograph signed together and also a machine head off of the guitar he smashed and also set alight. It was a night to remember as a 16 year old.

  40. I remember being at the Wedge in newport, Stoned at the time, in our group of surfers, we had only a few LPs among us, Hendrix was our guy, between all of us we had everything he published. Really only Three things take you out when you are in the money, Drugs/Sex/aircraft.

  41. They were $20,000 for 6 boxes or two stacks when new. Today they go for about $2,000 for 6 boxes or two stacks. I am already on these and have a buddy driving to see them after he gets off of work. I have already struck a cash deal for the whole lot if they are all there. He says he thinks that there are only two LF boxes with the 18 inch woofers in them, so we will see if there are complete stacks there or just a bunch of parts. If I buy all of these, I will be selling my own 6 boxes that I already own, plus a pair of KP-450 speakers, Plus two KP-684 Subs to help offset the expense. I will keep everybody posted as soon as I find out what is really there! Roger

  42. I use 6011 at work but really prefer 6010 because it has even more BITE. Humm, was not aware of this, it's been a few years since iv had the need to weld anything, you know how it is, you get spoiled on a Rod type and use no other. Better buy a case of spool wire, could be a long winter.

  44. Bondo, mmmmm, love that smell. Don't know why or think that it's particularly normal. Maybe it just conjures up memories of building subwoofers. I was thinking bowling pro shops.Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

  45. No. Yezzir, ol' Brian always there with the gasoline... It IS possible to carry on this discussion without trashing other peoples taste. There is nothing wrong with saying one doesn't care for something, but making a judgment that an entire genre or group of aficionados are idiots isn't only bad taste it's incredibly rude and ignorant. I have my preferences, which include band organs. In my case I can take ribbing from my friends. OTOH, not so much from people I don't know from squat. I mentioned I'd poked Thebes from time to time...but he and I go back a decade and that's different. Actually, I've made the point I opened with. The peace around here in general is totally amazing considering the gulf in opinions both regarding music and the importance of equipment vs. music. Probably should have left it be, but I think this bunch can handle it. Then we can work on peace in the middle east. Dave
