  1. I think there were two or three of these. Sound tracks were by Davie Allan and the Arrows. I vaguely remember "The Wild Angels Ride Again". BTW, Nancy has a brand new album with an interesting rendition of the Bono tune 'Two Shots of Happy' - sounds like she's singing about Ole Blue Eyes. Hamish
  2. This is a very formidable setup. Concert videos really jump at you from a large screen and with that sound system you'd be fraying the cuffs of my blue jeans. I'd love to hear Lindsey Buckingham's guitar solo in "I'm So Afraid" from Fleetwood Mac's 'The Dance' on your rig. Bet it rocks. Thanks for sharing. Slainte Hamish
  3. Is this what you wanted? Hamish 'Hoochie Coochie Man' by Muddy Waters The gypsy woman told my mother Before I was born I got a boy child's comin' He's gonna be a son of a gun He gonna make pretty women's Jump and shout Then the world wanna know What this all about But you know I'm him Everybody knows I'm him Well you know I'm the hoochie coochie man Everybody knows I'm him I got a black cat bone I got a mojo too I got the Johnny Concheroo I'm gonna mess with you I'm gonna make you girls Lead me by my hand Then the world will know The hoochie coochie man But you know I'm him Everybody knows I'm him Oh you know I'm the hoochie coochie man Everybody knows I'm him On the seventh hours On the seventh day On the seventh month The seven doctors say He was born for good luck And that you'll see I got seven hundred dollars Don't you mess with me But you know I'm him Everybody knows I'm him Well you know I'm the hoochie coochie man Everybody knows I'm him
  4. Ahah! Was right. It is the Glenlivet three over from the right. Save me a dram. Great pix! Slainte! Hamish
  5. You provided me some really astute and valuable advice on a centre channel speaker about a year ago. So I'm sorry to hear your home theatre got flooded but am relieved that most of the damage is reversible and repairable. Our sound systems might be manifestations of our own personalities to some small degree and it would be most disconcerting to have all that time, love and work in jeopardy. BTW, because of the WAF and size, my home theatre speakers ended up being Reference 3's. One thing to check out maybe at Home Depot, is a moisture or water sensor that sets off an alarm if water gets on the floor. Only effective if someone is home, I suppose. Good luck. Hamish
  6. Hi Fini, I'm glad to hear you and I hope the other lady is OK. A quality vehicle will take the beating and let the occupants walk away - such is Toyota. Anyway, on the weekend, my Mom ended up in the hospital and being airlifted to a larger hospital, so the last few days here have been a rather hectic blur. Right now, she's doing fine and improving. I trust your Mom is doing well. Take care. Hamish
  7. This is a copy of a post I sent to a member yesterday about Klipsch and Yamaha. Hi Justin^E and welcome to the forum. Sounds like you've got all the bases covered with your HT system. Similar to my HT setup except for the subs. (profile) My fronts are about a foot and a half out from the wall and in from the side wall about half the distance between speakers. The centre rests on a waist high tv armoire so it's on a fairly level plane with the main horns. The RS3's are mounted about head high on the side walls about 5 feet behind the chairs. And a rear centre farther back on a buffet. With the Yammie RX1300, the dts and dd modes are pretty amazing on the dvd's. From the satellite, I use Prologic II when watching shows like CSI. For music, I'll either listen to it in a traditional stereo mode or the 6 channel entertainment mode if I want to fill up the room. I was running the Yammie before with other speakers and noticed gaps in the sound particularly front and back. With the References, everything seems to be linked together in a seamless wrap with sound sources emanating from different directions. All in all, I'm pretty happy with it except for the cheesy grill setup. And I think the Yammie complements the speakers nicely. So I hope this is a little help. Hard to explain sensory sensations in text. So come on over sometime. Slainte. Hamish

  9. just in time for the hockeyless season - you'll be running lots of dvd's instead. Is that the Glenlivet that I see 3 over from the right? Save me a dram and what hot sauce do you use on haggis? A job well done, Picky, you should be proud - enjoy. Hamish

  12. 2525 by Zager and Evans In the year 2525 If man is still alive. If woman can survive, they may find. In the year 3535 Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies. Everything you think, do and say, is in the pill you took today. In the year 4545 Ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes. You won't find a thing to chew. Nobody's gonna look at you. In the year 5555 Your arms hanging limp at your sides. Your legs got nothing to do. Some machine doing that for you. In the year 6565 Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife. You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too. From the bottom of a long glass tube. Whoa-oh In the year 7510 If God's a-comin, he oughta make it by then. Maybe he'll look around himself and say. Guess it's time for the judgment day. In the year 8510 God is gonna shake his mighty head. He'll either say.I'm pleased where man has been. Or tear it down and start again. Whoa-oh In the year 9595 I'm kinda wonderin if man is gonna be alive. He's taken everything this old Earth can give. And he ain't put back nothing.Whoa-oh Now it's been ten thousand years Man has cried a billion tears. For what he never knew, now man's reign is through. But through eternal night. The twinkling of starlight. So very far away. Maybe it's only yesterday. In the year 2525 If man is still alive. If woman can survive, they may find. 13. Hey fini, The concern, love and care expressed for your Mom is echoed with my best wishes. Just after the Millenium, I just about lost mine but miracles do happen. This Sunday (Canadian Thanksgiving), we're getting together for the turkey dinner down at my brother's. So all the best to you, your Mom and family at this time and here's to a speedy recovery. Slainte Mhath. Hamish

  15. G'day there, KrustyOldSarge, A salute to you and those in the Services. Anyhow, I've had a Yammy 1300 for about 18 months. It's built like a tank, clean, powerful, dependable and can shake the house. I've used it with a few different heritage setups and am now running it with a Reference 3 system (see profile). In a dts or dd home theatre mode, it provides a seamless wrap of sound front to back and left to right, and puts dialog up in the middle front where it belongs. Sound location and definition is really good - even gets my dog going sometimes. Listening to music, I use 2 channel or stereo a lot because that was how most engineers mixed the music for. Although a nice dsp feature is the 6 channel entertainment setting for filling the room with music. Dependability is really good - no problems out of the box or now. Only drawbacks are minor. Back binding posts are crammed together, a weak small orange display (although a great on-screen video display) and a overly complicated remote. Maybe they've changed these with the newer models. Anyhow, I've really been happy with it and would recommend it. You take care over there. Slainte Mhath Hamish
  16. Tube amps, RF-7's and a neat dram of Lagavulin. You got my attention. I'm coming over with Sheepdip in hand. I had a good look through your site and am amazed at your attention to build detail (great site too) Congratulations. I bet it sounds incredible. Slainte Mhath. Hamish

  19. Verse 2 Everybody sing! My wife and my kids, they are packed up and leave me. Darling, she said, I was yours to be seen. Poor me, the Israelite. Aah. You could smell the whisky Poor me, Israelite, I look a-down down Copperhead Road - starting to whur my slurds
  20. Well, the sheriff came around in the middle of the night. Heard mama crying and knew something wasn't right He was headed down to Knoxville with the weekly load. You could smell the whiskey burning down Copperhead Road slainte mhath!! y'all!!
  21. Hey PhilMays "Running over the same old ground What have we found. The same old fears Wish you were here" great lyrics - here's my favourite PF lines - "I've looked over Jordan and I have seen that Things are not what they seem" watch these guys - they're going to make it big some day
  22. A reality show by the name of "The Casino" concluded a couple of weeks ago. The show was based at the Golden Nugget in Vegas. In the show, there's a lounge singer named "Matt Dusk" and he's just released a CD called, "Two Shots of Happy". Title song was written by Bono of U2 for Frank Sinatra but ole Blue Eyes upped and died before he could record it. So Matt Dusk has released it. It's well worth a listen - kind of haunting. As well, a really interesting version of the very early Beatles rocker, "Please Please Me" is also on it. By the way, Matt Dusk is a fairly young Canadian who won a star search type of contest in '97 and has never looked back. - by Grandma Dusk (not really - just kidding)
  23. hey Piranha, hang in there. A year ago last May, my knee got bent up all the way instead of back and I ended up looking like that. I had fallen backwards off a ladder. It was all the patella tendons tore off, some nerve damage and bone shards off the knee. Crutches and crotch to knee brace and tylenol 3's like candy. That's when I really got involved with everyone here on the forum. Good news is everything came back with physio, exercise and time. You're younger, probably tougher ( with a handle like Piranha). So good luck to you and enjoy some quality time with your audio gear and the forum. Get well soon. Hamish
