  1. well, I'm actually happy with my ADC1600DD..it works very good...for it's age...27 years old.. ALT1 tonearm, and ortifon cart....not 27.......

  4. what was I listning to......hhhmmmmmmm......lets see I started out on friday with ...oh I was out of town on friday...sat.. started out with some 70s disco.....(the chicks love it)..then when I couldnt stand that anymore..oldies and classic rock from 68' to bout 75'-76'the stuff you dont hear everyday... like the radio and sunday was misc. day....streaming internet ......gc

  8. Ive been wireing houses for years ..we use wire nutz on our splices up to 50 amps@ 110 volts...If they can handle that ..then they should be able to pass a couple of milliamps @ 5- 20 volts with no problem....gc
  9. Denon....DP62L....excelent machine ...wish I had one....maybe on E-bay....should be reasonable now.......gc
  10. just basicly bypass the tone control circuitry in your receiver...thats all. Older components had that feature in them, but in the 80s, with bass enhancment they felt they didnt need that one anymore. It's a shame that the younger generation(not all) have been subjected to such horendes (However you spell it) sound that there is no standard to which to judge by...except the highend dealers which are becoming few and far between. The stuff you hear in circuit city and the chain stores is so tonely enhanced that it takes away form the original sound...you dont know whats real anymore...sorry I rambled on ..........gc
  11. 70s.....yea....70s stuff..... All the components for a good ol' pioneer "rack" are available on e-bay... also sanyo "plus series"....marantz...fisher...sansui...(whatever happened to sansui?)...seperates...nikko audio... are still available. The equipment had style back then too...meters that rock back and forth....big knobs for volume control and selectors..not a pushbutton that you halfta hold for 20 seconds to turn the volume down when the phone rings...... but there was still quality parts inside ..not a chip no bigger than than a fly..80s equipment turned into cheap plastic boxes, with funky displays that didn't tell you nuttin',just to look cool so the manufacturers can get your money so they can pay for their new 42 foot carver cabin cruiser.....
  12. go to a "fabric shop" or an upholstery shop and get some "dracron batts" used for upholstery. Thats what my wife does and we have rolls of it....
  13. Yes...bare concrete walls ......theres half of yer problem..room reflections can play a BIG part of the overall sound. Fur strips ,and drywall...build a wall to the left, then some absorbent material to dampen the reflections...not too much though, that will cut down the harshness of the mids, and disperse the highs a little more to smoothen out your soundstage. The walls were figured into the design of the speaker ...As for the toe in..you shouldnt need 45 degrees with the distance to the position the picture was taken. Also if you could seperate them another 3 feet, with the adjustments above, that should give you a grade #1 sounding system. Those speakers were made for filling a large area...take advantage of it....keep us posted....(pun intended)...gc
  14. Great find Gary....thats what i'm talkin' about..the older equipment has "style" other that just a 'black box"with a menu window on the front and a couple pushbuttons for the volume control and functions....anyway we'll keep our eyes open fer ya......gc
