from those pictures, it kind of looks like MDF material... not that there is anything wrong with that. it's not "yo gran daddys" mdf.

room size and LP dependent... for near field stuff, I would be willing to bet the Hiii is closer to the CWiii in sound delivery... albeit still not close enough for me personally.
