  1. I set up the Klipschorns a few weeks ago. The little lady LOVES them!!! Still rotating stuff in and out (damn, that sounds....).
  2. I simply carry a set of headphones and a Creative Zen Nomad Jukebox (VERY old digital player the size of a cassette Walkman). Most of the sound systems in gyms are horrible, so I furnish my own. The only problem with the Nomad is having to keep something that runs XP for when I have to change the hard drive.
  3. I use a variety without problems. Currently I am pushing them with a 35 watt HH Scott. They want more than that, but the 35 watts pushing them pretty well. I have also used my modded Adcom 555ii, modded Sansui AU7900, stock Sansui Seven Deluxe, 8080DB, G6700, etc.
  4. I have used many, many amps on mine. Currently the are being pushed by an HH Scott 335. I like my Sansui receivers and amps the best.
  5. I did this a few years ago. They ARE original black satin. I don't think I used anything over 120 grit then 180, 220, 400. The best look was achieved with about two to three coats of black satin. The original black will not sand out. Some will remain. using black satin again can control the amount of contrast of black with the wood grain. I went ahead and put them back black, but will re-do them again, maybe. They are currently in the garage. I will definitely put in L-pads for the horn even after all the damping I put on the horn lens and motorboard. (couldn't get those pics to load). These cabinets had been subjected to a lot of abuse! My other pair are in lacquered oak. The cabinets are in worse shape then the above pair. No mods have been done to this pair. The horn is much more over-powering than the pair in the pics. Damping does help!
  6. I really like the JBL 43xx series. The bigger, the better!!!
  7. This is what my CF-2 looked like after the black was sanded away.
  8. Welcome! I just purchased a pair of B&W 802 Diamonds because the better half liked the looks of them. As soon as they get here, they get to go against my K-horns, Belles, and La Scala.
  9. I have some Frazier F124H I thought of using to place in the ceiling. Closest thing to Klipsch you will most likely find. The sonics match very well with Heritage. I have Klipschorns, Belles, and La Scala in my system. The Fraziers would be a pain to mount flush, but it can be done.
  10. I moved into a house about 12 years ago that had a HUGE magnetic problem on one circuit. It was so bad that if a TV or monitor were placed on one bedroom wall, the screen would completely distort and become unviewable. I purchased a Gauss probe that fit my DVM. A ceiling fan had been installed by a previous owner and he mis-wired the neutral. This is also why a neutral should be pulled into every box, and is now required by code. Without a neutral wire to offset the magnetic field of the power wire, induction will produce a magnetic field. This magnetic field can cause all sorts of problems with electronics. I recently had my Dad's house re-wired and the electrician did not believe a neutral was required. The guy was a joke as an electrician. I complained to the state and the city, but they just let it slide. I had to re-wire a lot of his work. Very sloppy and lazy electrician. This is the norm rather than an exception to the rule.
  11. Try Dave at Speakerworks in Tulsa. He is an authorized Klipsch service center. Usually has hard to find stuff from every manufacturer.
  12. When I lived in Hope, I bought a piano simply for the STUNNING Bird's Eye Maple inside the back. I must say it was a pain to get rid of the metal frame inside. Not a problem now due to the number of recyclers, but a pain in the 70's.
  13. I am running an Eminence Delta 12a LF in my KP-201 (pro heresy II) with very good results.
  14. The most expensive wire I have used is silver-plated 12 ga copper. I hated it. I made up wires using two CAT 5e cables wound around each other to eliminate noise and cross talk. A little bit of work to do, but I can't say I heard any difference. I use 12 ga zip cord marked with a stripe down one side for polarity all the time now.

  16. So sorry to hear. He will be missed.
  17. What I was hoping for was to see the Belle back in production...
  18. We went to see Santana in October at the Walmart AMP in Rogers, Arkansas. Definitely no problem with audience behavior! +1 on the ear plugs at any concert. At the Santana concert, we really didn't need earplugs. The way live music is mixed these days, I take a couple of extra pair, just in case. The better half lost one of hers at P!NK inn November 2012. Her ears are still ringing!
  19. http://www.hps4000.com/pages/speak_index_.html Looks like copies of Klipsch for each speaker, John Allen designed. Since they have been around for a long time and they look like Klipsch designs, I wonder how they got around patent infringements. Looks like they had a Jube clone in 1981???
  20. A few years ago, I stopped at the Salvation Army in Roswell, NM. They had about 10,000 LP's and the going rate was $0.10 an album. I bought all I could that were in great condition over a few months. Very few rock albums, but there a bunch of overseas pressings of easy listening and classical albums.
  21. Nitro Fan, how do you like your CF-1's? The CF-3/4 get a lot of attention, but we never hear about the CF-1, and I've never heard anyone talk about the CF-2. Do you like them as mains, or would they make a good compliment for surrounds for the CF-3/4's? I have two pair of the CF-2's. Been looking for a schematic of the crossover for some time. The capacitors are not marked (except that there were from Mexico). Both pair are the Series 1. Damped the horn on one pair and it made a big difference. I also put in an L-pad on the horn for adjustment. Damn good speaks!
  22. I may be parting out a pair of CF-2. I picked up a pair recently with some crappy cabs. I am going to match the woofers for the set I have restored. Then, build a center channel speaker out of a horn and two woofers; sell the rest.
  23. This would have most likely been in a mis-wired ground or neutral in your previous house. Electrical codes now require a neutral into every switch box which helps with electronic controls. I have seen some horrible wiring jobs in residences. Most electricians do not understand the why of proper grounding and proper neutral wiring.
