  1. This is the kind of information we can all use! Straight from the expert, not some meta-posters taking a wild guess!

    Bicycle Tires

I love S-works turbos for comfort and speed, but they are not the most durable. Of course with Specialized there is an S-works tax, but usually this time of year they do a BOGO sale. You can't beat Gatorskins for durability but they are hard as a rock IMO. I would like to check out Pirelli tires, perhaps this summer. The Michelins you are looking at may be a good compromise. Let us know what you end up with and your opinion of them. Good Luck and stay safe out there!

ABX is how I would handle it, but YMMV.
  4. I'm curious where you bought from. If you are in Roscoe, I live 15-20 minutes from you; I'm North of Belvidere
  5. I wrote "not that much more difficult". IMO it's worth the extra effort, but I defer to you, you're the tapped horn expert. I've only built 1. I don't know why I bother offering my opinion anywhere on the internet anymore. This forum, like so many others are so frustrating to me lately. I hate the internet, I think I need a break!
  6. If you don't already have the drivers, I would be considering tapped horn subwoofers. You are allocating a large space for them to occupy already. You will get a lot more bang for your buck with tapped horn, and the builds are not that much more difficult.
  7. I've been subscribed to his You Tube channel for a while. He has some interesting perspective and rants. I enjoy listening to the opinion of many to help form my own.
  8. Amazon HD music currently works with Android Auto, I use it all the time in the car. I've been using it for several years now, and once the HD version was available I upgraded right away. I search by artist all the time, and have never had a problem finding an entire discography. Usually there are multiple versions of popular albums with Ultra HD tracks playing up to 24 bit / 96kHz Flac files. I use the desktop app at work and feed USB out from my PC into my DAC and then to head phone amp. Phone app will not control desktop app like Spotify though.
  9. I use Amazon HD also and I'm very happy with it. There is a fair amount of exclusive content. I like having several versions of my favorite albums available. Bonus content, demos, etc. The user interface isn't flashy, but I have yet to be disappointed with the available content.
  10. Good choice on the B-2 network. IMO it is the best Klipsch designed network for the Cornwall 1. Good choice going with Crites as well; you won't be disappointed!
  11. I'm looking forward to your pics. Your veneer work is always top notch!
  12. Are you using the HDMI ARC(Auto Return Channel) input on your TV? If you are then it's intended the the Klipsch remote will control some TV functions. If you use a different input/ output like optical, then it should not be an issue. Still, IR or RF interference is possible.
  13. I would buy a couple of these desiccant cans to throw in storage with the speakers. I use one like this in my safe and was amazed at how much moisture it absorbs. . https://www.amazon.com/Lockdown-Silica-Gel-750-grams/dp/B004QUIWAA/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?ie=UTF8&aaxitk=.-SZMaUTudKY1x57IhsgGw&hsa_cr_id=2988231290201&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_mcd_asin_0

    Air purifiers

My Costco has that Dyson unit on sale for $350 (from $500). I thought about it, but passed because we had recently bought 2 cheaper units to cover our home. I've always had good luck with Dyson products.
  15. Man, I love ribbon stripe mahogany! Beautiful work as always!
  16. I've been considering the Plasti Dip white with "pearlizer" to paint my Oris horns. The good part is if I don't like it, I can peel it off. Also hoping the rubber texture of Plasti Dip will tame the horns a little. I will be following your path here to see what works for you. Pearl white is my choice as well. Good luck! Jeremy
  17. Don't forget to add location. That plays a big factor in the value of items like this, that are not easily shipped.
  18. Move on from the JBL tweeter and use Chris A's advice. I think you will be disappointed in the JBL tweeter response on the low end. They are fantastic from 5 kHz and up, but thinking you are going to get good response @ 2.4 kHz is wishful.
  19. What midrange driver do you plan to use? If you plan to use a JBL 2405 tweeter, then I'm assuming this is a 3-way project.
  20. I would look for something "higher end" used. I'm a big fan of VPI tables. There is a pretty robust used market and a lot of bang for the buck. YMMV, good luck!
  21. This is a very good explanation of the simple point I made earlier in this thread, about the relationship between tone arm mass and cartridge compliance. The resulting resonant frequency is critical. Good job with the detailed explanation! Jeremy
  22. Make sure one speaker is not out of phase, which would significantly reduce overall output.
  23. Another thing that is often overlooked and worth noting when choosing a cartridge is matching the compliance (suspension) with your tone arm mass. If you are buying a complete new setup from a manufacturer, then this is already sorted out for you. If you are piecing together your own turntable, then you need to be aware of your tonearm mass and cartridge compliance relationship.
  24. Thanks! I love idler drive turntables. I have a pretty large Plinth, that I made, under my TD-124, but not nearly as large as yours vertically. I really like the scale and visual appeal you have going! Thanks for sharing. Jeremy
