  1. I decided to pass on them. After thinking about it I didn't like the idea of having to sell my Fortes and KGs to pay for the LaScalas. Also the LSIs aren't the most attractive speakers with their giant handles on the side and stenciled Klipsch logos. I found a different pair of speakers that I'm hopefully picking up tonight however...
  2. For anyone interested there's an SC-1 on eBay, $65 + shipping buy-it-now: http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-SC-1-SC1-CENTER-CHANEL-SPEAKER_W0QQitemZ380178004658QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item58845ffab2
  3. Watched it on Blu-Ray a few days ago. Superb video and audio. I was surprised at the movie, it was quite sad on parts. Definitely not a typical kids animated movie.
  4. There was a bit of time between my Harman/Kardon and my Marantz. I liked the Harman/Kardon a little better for music than for home theater. The Marantz is a great balance of both. I've seen 7002s for $750 and less on eBay, super receiver for the money.
  5. I tried out a pair of KSP-400s along with my Forte IIs for a while and the Fortes absolutely slaughtered the KSPs in everything, dynamics, detail, treble extension, midrange clarity, you name it.
  6. I'd say they're pretty evenly matched. Here's a pair of B-3s on eBay that look to be in like new condtion, $129 buy-it-now http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-Pair-Of-Synergy-B-3-Bookshelf-Speakers-Black_W0QQitemZ330377057578QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSpeakers_Subwoofers?hash=item4cec01d52a
  7. Yeah, having to insert the NetFlix disc every time you want to use the streaming is a little annoying. I think my wife watched 3 movies today that didn't tie up our queue!
  8. Since you have Reference fronts and can fit Reference surrounds that's what I'd recommend. That being said, it isn't quite as critical to match surrounds to fronts so if you find a good deal on Synergy speakers they'll work fine. RS-25s or any from the RS-3 series will have higher output and more full sound than RS-10s.
  9. The long-anticipated Emotiva pre-amp should be available within a month or two. Not sure about their policy to ship to Australia but its one I'd seriously consider.
  10. Having owned both Harman/Kardon and Onkyo I would give the nod to Harman/Kardon for a better all-around sound. Onkyo was great for HT but stunk for music. Harman/Kardon was great for both.
  11. Budman, these two items do not make sense: [^o)]
  12. Worth $200 in all working condition?
  13. Just received my disc from NetFlix to stream movies/TV shows through my PS3. Man is this slick! I know streaming video has been around for a while but its awesome being to stream through my PS3 instead of my computer. Video looks to be DVD quality, audio is only 2 channel Dolby Digital. It'll be nice to be able to stream movies and TV shows that I don't care as much about the picture or audio (such as 99.9% of the ones my wife picks out) and save my queue for better discs.

I'm proud to say that I know the director, Stephen Sommers. His dad was my pediatrician! Very, very nice guy who had his filmmaking career start in Minnesota.
  16. Welcome to the forums! I would recommend wiring the Quintets to the speaker outputs on the Pioneer and connecting the Sub-12 to the Pioneer's RCA subwoofer output.
  17. I had a 2.1 system for a very long time and was extremely happy with it. I don't think I'd be that upset going back to it. Daddy Dee, you're not helping! [6] I emailed the seller and we'll see what happens.
  18. If you can get your hands on an SVS Ultra you won't regret it. I used to have two of them and it was bigtime overkill in my small basement theater. I ended up selling one of them to free up some money when I bought my new TV and I still have tons of output for music and movies. I used to have an SVS 16-46 PC+ and it was rotten for music and unbelievable for home theater. Your 20-39 is probably only marginally better than the 16-46 when it comes to music. Another suggestion would be to sell the RSW-15 and get an Hsu MBM-12. I used one with my 16-46 and it was an awesome combo. I only got rid of it because the Ultra gave a ton more mid-bass slam that the 16-46 never could.
  19. Its actually more desirable to have too much power than too little. As long as you don't turn it up loud enough to hear any audible distortion from the speakers you'll be fine.
  20. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/ele/1459737432.html My question regarding these would be: Is the price in line with today's market? Being from 1980, would I have to worry about the crossover networks components at all? Would I be happy going from a Forte II/KG 3.5 surround setup to a 2 channel (plus my SVS sub) setup? I really, really want those LaScalas!! Does anyone know of the pro LaScala is the same size (length, width, height) as a standard LaScala? Just trying to figure out if these will even fit in my basement!
  21. It is only a cosmetic defect and won't affect the sound at all.
  22. The HK 34** series integrated amps work awesome with Klipsch.
  23. I had a HK 3480 and still feel it was the best sound amp/receiver with any Klipsch I've owned. Only got rid of it once I went from two-channel to surround sound. Come to think of it, I don't think it would be too bad of an idea to buy one to use as an external amp for my front speakers...
