  1. Yes, I've been running three days a week and doing weights/cardio 3 days a week in between running. Getting some very nice muscle definition in my arms and legs. Now I just need to work on my midsection!
  2. Unfortunately it isn't my tires being melted into submission but I do own a yellow GT convertible with a black top. I found the pic online and thought it would work well as an avatar. [] Here's mine
  3. Today was the final day of the weight loss contest between a co-worker and me. We started the contest April 1st of this year. My beginning weight was 208.5 pounds. I lost about 20 more pounds than she did in that time. In her defense, she started dieting January 1st and I didn't start until our contest started in April 1st. She had already lost about 20 pounds prior to our contest so I had an easier time losing weight right away. She's lost 43 pounds since January 1st. I was a little worried because last week at the cabin I ate Twinkies, hamburgers, brats, fried fish, macaroni and cheese, potato chips, beer, etc. I was on vacation and needed to not have to care about what I ate. I still lost a half pound over the past two weeks. She now owes me an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet at Pizza Ranch, a local pizza chain. I haven't eaten there since the week before I started my diet when I had around 12 pieces of pizza. I don't think I'll be able to pack that many in now and frankly I don't want to. My wife got me a gift certificate for a new suit at a local men's store and if I can keep the weight off through Christmas I'm going to treat myself to a couple more. I wear a suit every day to work so it'll be nice to have clothes that aren't falling off of me. I wish success to everyone out there who is trying to lose weight. Its not easy but it can be done and the results are well worth it!
  4. I'd love to hear the Icon series some day. Have you thought about placing your center speaker on top your stand and then the TV on top of the center speaker? The speaker could definitely handle the weight and it would sound much better getting it farther from the floor.
  5. There are a lot of walleyes on the lake but I prefer fishing for smaller, easier to catch fish. Funny thing, I've fished for walleyes several times and the only time I've caught one was in the Mississippi River when I was going for smallmouth bass. One walleye in my entire life! Here's a picture of the northern I caught: Here's a couple lake pictures: Clouds finally leaving!
  6. THX and Dolby labs recommend direct-radiator speakers such as the B2 for rears in a 7.1 setup.
  7. I agree with a statement that a forum member once made (can't remember the name). He said that if you were to line up different sets of Klipsch speakers that are in their higher end of speakers (RF-7s, RF-63s, Forte IIs, KLF-30s) that they would sound a lot more alike than one might think. Thankfully Klipsch is one company that is always looking to improve their products. PWK left quite a legacy behind and if I worked for Klipsch I'd make darn sure that legacy was still alive and kicking.
  8. For a 3 channel amp, something like this would work very well: http://cgi.ebay.com/Adcom-GFA-5503-3-Channel-Amplifier_W0QQitemZ260411638919QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ca1be4487&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 This one's a 7 channel amp which would allow for a lot of future upgrading: http://cgi.ebay.com/Outlaw-Audio-7100-100W-x-7-Channel-Amplifier_W0QQitemZ130317215553QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1e5782e741&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1234|293%3A1|294%3A50 5 channel amp from Rotel: http://cgi.ebay.com/Rotel-RB-985-100w-thx-5-channel-power-amplifier_W0QQitemZ250458445831QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3a507c9807&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1234|293%3A1|294%3A50
  9. Since you're using Blu-Ray and HD-DVD the only way you're going to get the HD audio formats is by sending the audio through HDMI. So, options 1 and 3 are the only way you're going to get the best audio. From my own experience I've found that Marantz receivers do a great job with 2 channel music and also with home theater. I know a lot of people on here use Yamaha and have heard very few complaints about them. I'd be inclined to hook up the bare necessities to the Marantz first (only enough to test the sound) and then switch to the Yamaha and see what you like best.
  10. Thanks everyone. It was a great week. Its sad how fast the week goes when you're having fun like that. The owner of the resort did say he'll be contacting me in December to see if we want to stay again next year. Hopefully it'll work out!
  11. Video is fake, but homemade fireworks = big trouble nonetheless. I had a little mishap a few years back that could have burned down an entire county. Not cool.
  12. As a much less expensive alternative, I would suggest replacing your crossover networks with ones from DeanG on your front three speakers.
  13. I enjoyed the past week at a cabin in northwest Wisconsin with my wife, mom and dad, grandma and brother. When we got home today and unpacked everything my wife wanted to watch TV. I hopped online to check emails and of course the Klipsch forums. My wife is watching the movie Outbreak that is on TV and I have to say that I really missed the Klipsch sound while I was gone! Its funny how you get used to something when you're able to listen to it every day. Having a dinky little TV at the cabin and stuck with factory car speakers there and back makes me appreciate what I have at home! Its really amazing how awesome that Klipsch speakers are.
  14. Its always nice to hear when someone enjoys their Klipsch! Some people's 'brightness' is other people's dynamics and realism. Enjoy!!
  15. Welcome back and yes I do remember you from a ways back. [Y]
  16. I was going to post the same thing. Pics!!
  17. The gentleman who bought a pair of KSP-400s that I had recommended the Chinese tube amps on eBay. He had a couple of them and said they sounded very nice with his Fortes.
  18. That's a great comparison photo. I could see Bose using it against big speakers. "Look at this, the entire 5 cube setup is smaller than the average center speaker!"

Lately I've seen them go for $275-400 depending on condition and color.
  20. Cool unit! Half.com is a good place for audio items.
  21. If you're looking for some punch, I would recommend getting an Hsu MBM-12. http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/mbm-12.html They provide TONS of mid-bass slam. I had one before I had my SVS Ultras and it was amazing for music and movies. Gave you that kick in the gut feeling. If you pair an MBM up with a subwoofer that can dig well below 20Hz you will thorougly enjoy the combo.
  22. I've been thorougly enjoying my Marantz SR7001. http://www.accessories4less.com has the 7001 for $499.99 and the 8001 for $699.99. They are factory refurbished but I've never had a single problem with factory refurb'd items.
  23. Many newer receivers have power ratings with only one or two channels driven, or their power ratings are measured at a very easy to amplify frequency (such as 1kHz). Also, with a receiver, you can only cram so much stuff inside the case so compromises have to be made somewhere. Many older amplifiers and receivers didn't have to fit as many circuit boards with DSP engines, etc. in them so there was room for larger power transformers and beefier power supplies. If older amplifiers and receivers were measured the same way that many modern ones are I'm sure that their ratings would far, far exceed what's available in the current audio market. If you have a budget of around $1000 I would recommend getting a pre-amplifier and a separate power amplifier. Outlaw Audio has a great reputation and I believe right now they are selling one of their pre-amps very inexpensively. The nice thing about getting separates is that you can find a pre-amp that has all the technical features you need and then shop for an amplifier that fits your needs. Are you running your Forte IIs by themselves or do you have a surround setup?
  24. Set your speakers to 80Hz and the LFE to 120Hz.
