  1. Your experiment demonstrates the importance of disconnecting and reconnecting connections periodically. It shows just how important all the actual connections are. A good cleaning while doing that on all connecting points and components is important too. I use small soft brushes soaked in alcohol. I hit up every connection including all speaker wire points, binding post, interconnect plugs, RCA connectors and power cord points I can. Lots talk about the importance of good interconnect and speaker wire, but few talk about the importance of all their connectors and connections and periodical maintenance of them. Of course the less connections you can have the better and the less items you have in them too.
  2. The first step is to admit a good sub can make a difference. OK, here I go, I'm soundbound and I admit that I have to have a good sub or two in my system. There, I'm out now and I feel much better. I'm a sub addict.
  3. A lot of Rock & Roll is recorded terrible. They need to get a clue from jazz recordings. [8]
  4. Just use a single cable and connect it to the left input only (which is what is indicated in the manual)
  5. You can also try some really sticky tape. Stick the tape as good as you can to the dent without causing any further damage then pull it out easily and hopefully some of the dent out with it too. I don't think you can get all the dent out of plastic dust caps, but most.
  6. A great idea! Way nice!!! [Y] How much $ to buy some?
  7. jpm ask, "Has anyone gone from tubes back to SS? There must be some out there that were less than enthused with tubes." I have. I like big speakers for that big sound. SS does that for me and tubes didn't. I don't mean real loud, just dynamics with some bass.
  8. tromprof, Will you post a direct link to the eBay Canada seller, so I can go check them out? Thank you.
  9. "It acts as an arterial declogger, accelerator and thus caffeine infusor." "Pretty much sez it all as far as I'm concerned -- where do I send the check?" James Good one. "The man who invented it is "not quite sure how it works". Gotta love it. CECAA850 Another good one. "Where my BPT BP-3.5 Signature Plus is a noise killer and excels at image density, mass and damping, the Velocitor is a pacesetter. It excels at speed, dynamics, jump factor and release. I can't necessarily tell you that one makes the system quieter than the other." "Because of its innate reflexes, you might suspect the Velocitor to be slightly edgy in terms of transient definition. It's not. Transients are explosive and well-defined but not chiseled or exaggerated. They simply seem more precise than the BPT's because they let go so rapidly. I wager a guess that the fine balance on tap here is partially a function of running cryogenically treated silver and copper conductors in parallel (and in a predetermined ratio to combine specific attributes). Be that as it may, the velocity function of this unit doesn't come at the expense of zippiness, stridency, hype or forced excitement. In that sense, it's not an emphasizer but a liberator." "I wish I could pretend to hear a difference in any one of the things I bolded." BuyOtherSoundEquipment Me too, or maybe not. I'm with you on that! The words these guys use to explain the improvements they so call hear always makes me laugh. "I wonder what would happen if you sat a "clever little clock" on top of that box?" mark1101 Another good one. "Am I the only one who finds it ironic that it does NOT come with a power cord???" "Review component retail: $2,995 without power cord, $450 for optional matching stand" srobak Absolutely Hilarious!!! You guys sure are a funny group of people. Thanks for the laughs!
  10. I've owned vintage. It's good, but you have to restore them which cost $. While vintage sounds good with their famous old transformers and all, I found new to sound as good and better. You can still get good deals on eBay. I won this new one for $100 plus $70 for shipping insurance with free ground shipping. It took three months to arrive from Hong Kong, but I was in no hurry. I just received it a few days ago and love it. It sounds good with my small home built monitors and my Klipschorns. Better than my vintage Mint Fisher X-100 that sold on eBay for $980 two years ago. I did sell my Fisher with all working original tubes, all new JJ tubes, New Fisher Doctor rebuild kit and nice cabinet, but would still rather have this new one. I bought it from this seller direct link below, but there's more eBay all new tube component sellers over seas that are offering free shipping. They up the insurance cost some, but it's still well worth the deal you get. Trust me! I use SS with my Klipschorns and it sounds real good to me! I just wanted some tubes again for some more flavor. I'm not a tubes rule person. Any good preamplifier and amplifier works good, be it SS or tube. Your close by Parts Express is an avenue you should also definitely consider! http://stores.ebay.com/WHAT-A-TAKHEI_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsQ3amesstQQtZkm
  11. Greg, You seem smart enough to me. I find your findings interesting. I tried some Altec 511B horns with my K-55 drivers and found all they did was to spread out the sound more, because they're bigger mouth horns. This gave a softer sounding midrange, which some may desire, but I did not. For that reason, I have no desire to try the ALK Trachorns. Your findings with comparing new "A" crossovers with the ALK ES Networks are interesting. I have Bob's A - AA crossovers in my Klipschorns and like them. I'm interested in trying Dean's at some point though. I don't mind the K-77 as some do, but I want to get some Beyma tweeters and Bob's someday. Do the Beyma tweeters acquire a crossover change? I did buy one of Bob's stamped framed K-33 woofers and found it to match the new K-33 I bought direct from Klipsch. Selling my old woofers on eBay to buy new woofers made good since to me. Everyone's improved findings with Bob's cast framed K-33 woofers will have me buying those next time I need woofers. You do a beautiful job with restoring your speakers! Keep it going. I totally agree with your statements about PWK 100%!
  12. Greg sure did a beautiful job restoring these! His page 6 upgrade findings are very interesting. Any comments about them? http://www.dcchomes.com/Mkhorn6.html
  13. Beautiful job with doing the Zebrawood Jubilees! [Y]
  14. Try these. I like them. They also come with their own cap. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=270-102
  15. It's so important to go around your room and get all the rattles and buzzes stopped. It took me some time to get all my gone. Sometimes you don't realize you even have one until it's gone. Those speaker cabinets need to be checked regular too for loose screws and such that cause noises.
  16. I own some Chorus II and they'll rock the house. Plenty of bass! They also do drums real live like. They're some serious speakers! Love to listen to jazz through them too. Some amazing speakers! They'll go to someone else at some point after my heart stops.
  17. Real nice system! I know it sounds amazing too!
