  1. VMWare Player download. But personally, I found it easier to dual-boot with XP.
  2. Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
  3. The seal against the side and back walls is much more important than the bottom-front of the speaker resting snugly against the floor. Much more important.
  4. I read that it was because it was too often confused for $20 bill, $5 bill, or $1 bill when paying or making change in a hurry. Also cash register tills and vending machines are not set up for them. YMMV
  5. Forgive me, but isn't that a bit like saying, "I'm a Formula 1 racecar driver, but I can't figure out how to back my car out of the garage."? You know how to use MATLAB. You know how to read and manipulate .wav files. So read your original file into one vector, read your processed file into another vector, and subtract the processed vector from the original vector. If the files are too long, then do it a little bit at a time.
  6. (Shameless plug) And hire me to do the DSP work!Greg
  7. HTML tags. In cases where the tag indicates the start of a mode, ("quote" enclosed in "<>" starts quotation mode, for example), a forward slash before the same tag ends the mode ("/quote" enclosed in "<>" ends quotation mode). In spite of the name, "link" is not the command to use to insert a link to another document. Use "a" instead. See here. "br" and "p" are probably the most useful.
  8. Just make certain that the TV supports 1080p (progressive scan) format, not just 1080i (interlaced). Nearly every new TV does, but if you buy one used be aware that some of the older TVs only supported 1080i. That said, a TV can make a very nice 1920x1080 monitor.
  9. Much like vented boxes, tapped horns "unload" below their cutoff frequency, resulting in extremely large excursions that can damage the driver, without any significant acoustic output. So a highpass filter is used to prevent any extremely low frequency signals from even reaching the driver. In the Danley it might cut off at 12-15 Hz or thereabouts.
  10. ISP-100 Manual, page 8-33. I have no idea what "BFD" is, at least not in this context.

    Hyabusa Anyone?

For 21 years I rode a 1990 ZX11, the king before the Hayabusa came along. These bikes are amazing, but, frankly, they don't become "fun" until well into triple-digit speeds. My next bike will be something that's fun to ride at sane speeds, like a supermoto. By the way, did you know that the original nickname for the Hayabusa was "Eye Abuser"? Yes, they're that ugly. ;-) EDIT: Added smiley. The Kawasaki-Suzuki rivalry goes back a long way, but I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea. The Busa is a fantastic bike.
  12. Write "Side 1" on the label in Dayglo paint, so that it will shine bright under that psychedelic black light you have focused on the disco ball.
  13. What's an "engineered veneer"? Sounds like something you'd obtain by genetic engineering. Greg
  14. There was also a pair of Belles at the same sale; did you see them? I posted a Craigslist link to the sale a few days ago. Didn't attend myself, as I am not currently in the market.
  15. In 1995 I lived in a duplex in Oklahoma City. The other half was occupied by a couple of college students who liked to "turn it up". I asked several times that they keep the levels down, without effect, so I brought a pro audio amp home from work (1500W/channel). Next time they "turned it up", I put "Inna Gadda da Vida" on the turntable and CRANKED it. It was so loud that I had to leave the room. After the song played, there was nothing but silence from their half of the house. I knocked on their door, and when they answered, I said, "If you want to have stereo wars, you are seriously out-gunned." I never had any problems with them again.
  16. Thanks, Amy. It was operator-error on my part. When I originally went to that page, I was using a small-screen portable device. So I didn't notice that I could scroll down to the registration form. All that I saw was the Facebook reference.
  17. Amy, some of us don't "do" Facebook. Is there another way to enter?
  18. Seriously? Consoles are coming back? I feel like a kid in my parents' living room again. Is there a style-matched set of speakers for surround sound?
  19. For what it's worth, the Hornresp model of the Klipschorn seems to agree with you. The attached graphic shows the standard KHorn in gray, and exactly the same design with the back chamber volume reduced by half in black. It appears to me that PWK increased the back chamber volume in order to extend the bass response below the natural cutoff of the horn, at the expense of some output in the 50-70 Hz region. Greg
  20. Atma-Sphere M-60. Audio Society of Minnesota had a pair of Alon 4 speakers that I found unlistenable with any other amplifier. With the M-60 they were actually pleasant.
  21. A basic Jubilee Hornresp model can be found here. I haven't experimented with porting into the throat, so you're on your own there. Also, attached is a hornresp.dat file (I had to append ".txt" in order to attach it; just remove that) containing data for several 12" woofers, for your simulation pleasure. Greg Hornresp.dat.txt
  22. Those were my drawings, showing how a near-perfect 38Hz tractrix contour could be embedded in a stock-sized Jubilee cabinet. Greg
  23. To my knowledge, this is really the ultimate solution. However, the only people that I know who have been able to do this successfully were really hard-core computer types who completely understood what they were doing. I've never done it myself, but I've never tried, either. Greg
