  1. Very minty Cornwall II's, congratulations. I'm sure they will sound just as fine as they look. Nothing like buying your own Christmas presents! []
  2. Time to bump this as the holiday shopping season is upon us. I picked up 3 refurbished IGroove SXT's off of the clearance site for $49 a piece . Free shipping and no tax. One is for my 10 year old nephew, it's never to early to turn someone on to the Klipsch sound! The others are stocking stuffers for the wife and myself. Why is it when I go Christmas shopping I always buy something for myself?
  3. Congrats MBB, kick save and a beauty! I've been listening to my Chorus II's since 1990 and still think they sound great. Rock on P'Town. []
  4. Plaxico Burress has played his last down in a NY Giants uniform. He has embarrassed one of the classier organizations in the NFL and will never play for them again. The general manager Jerry Reese wisely structured his contract with incentive laden bonuses for amount played etc. He was also due one million of his pro rated signing bonus next week which is now forfeit. It wasn't just this one incident but a recurring pattern of abuse of team rules and officials which will lead to his dismissal from the team. A shame really, because he is a tremendously talented receiver, one who helped the team by constantly drawing double coverages which opened the rest of the field for other players. The charges against him are quite serious. Jail time for possesion of an unregistered weapon, no concealed carry permit, and transporting said gun across state lines, is quite probable. His leaving the team will hurt the Giants chances in the playoffs, but his selfishness will not be missed. No pity from this Giants fan, I've never had the chance to blow a 35 million dollar contract.
  5. Partagas # 2 Temple Hall # 625 Fonseca 8-9-8 Fonseca Cubano LTD (various) Temple Hall The Odyssey (7x45) Various strays from full boxes and Cubanos accumulated over the years. If your looking for a mild smoke and a GREAT value check out the Temple Hall Odyssey from JR Cigars, a closeout special that is tough to beat: http://www.jrcigars.com/index.cfm?page=itemDetails&ItemCode=THLE I bought 3 boxes and gave one to a friend, highly recommended.
  6. In my basement fridge: Sam Adams Cherry Wheat Sierra Nevada Anniversary Ale Magners Cider Spaten Michelob Ultra for the wife.
  7. Psalm 23 A psalm of David. 1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, [a] I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. May the Lord grant eternal peace unto you, Old Buckster.
  8. Magus, Welcome to the forum, as you can see there are some good people here! I too recently upgraded from Heresy II's to Cornwall II's. You are going to love them, incredibly efficient speakers. As far as your command of the English language is concerned, you certainly are better with it than some of those who have been using it their whole lives! Good luck with your Cornwalls.
  9. Sad but true, gun and ammo sales are through the roof recently. On the order of 30-40% in some areas, as well as huge price increases in common caliber rifle shells. I don't think this is totally due to the perception that the Democratic congress will further restrict possesion of firearms, I believe that there is genuine fear of a systemic collapse. Tough economic times helps breed paranoia, real or imagined. ( sorry I forgot how to post a link to various articles confirming these assertions.) One thing to watch is with Citibank trading in the $5 range the stock will come under more selling pressure as some mutual funds have it in their charters not to own shares of a company under a $5 trading price. Who do they merge with? Goldman? Morgan Stanley? The big three auto makers are essentially bankrupt with GM's medical and pension liabilities running $5 billion per annum. The UAW's pension and medical claims are backed by the federal government. That means us, the taxpayers.
  10. HarryO, perhaps we could start a small donation fund to help Mrs.Oldbuckster with some of her expenses. I am sure it would be appreciated and it would give the KlipschHeads a chance to help out in their time of need.
  11. I run my Cornwall II's off a Rotel RA-1070 Integrated Amplifier and am quite happy with the sound. The functionality of the unit serves my purposes and was one of the reasons I chose it. Plenty of power and with such efficent speakers I barely graze the 9:00 postion on the volume attenuator. Then again it is in the living room of a one bedroom Manhattan apartment. Lots of folks here seem to like Outlaw Audio with strong value for the dollar spent. Right now the used audio market is flush with products, there are definatly some values to be had with patience. Check the Garage sale forum here at Klipsch, you'll know the gear was well taken care of. Let us know what you end up with.
  12. When my father died in 1974, Taps was played by a member of the honor guard. When my uncle passed away 4 years ago, a taped version of Taps was played. When I asked one of the servicemen at the cemetary why a taped version was used, he replied that WW II veterans were dying at a rate of nearly 1000 per day. I turned around to see three more funeral corteges lined up behind that of my uncle's. Not enough buglers for the greatest generation.
  13. Is it my imagination or have Cornwall sales taken a hit without OB hanging around here exhorting people to "BUY THE CORNWALLS!" [] Wishing you the best for a speedy recovery, OldBuckster.
  14. Thanks for posting the link and pictures, some grest photos there. I love the bass bin(?) that makes the Chorus look small! I don't think the Belle is so bad looking, might not be HeidI Klum, but I'd take it.
  15. JW, nothing personal but I hate you. Jealousy is such an ugly emotion.[:$][6]
  16. I too recently upgraded from Heresy II's to Cornwall II's and have to agree that it is a nice step up the Klipsch ladder! The Heresy's are a great speaker, just not as impressive as are the Cornwalls. Enjoy your new toys.
  17. I believe 7650 was the low following the attacks of 9/11/01, that would be the next level of support. Below that............
  18. I have a 5-10% decrease in comparable volume when I hook up my Ipod vs my cd player. At the volumes you describe you should have blood shooting out of your ears! Do you still have your old receiver? If so try hooking it up to see if the Sony is your problem.
  19. Actually he plays much better than ever, I read an interview with him where he stated that while he was tied up in lawsuits over his Creedence material he spent those 10 years practicing the guitar. I saw him in '96 (?) with Kenny Aronoff on drums at the Hammerstein Ballroom here in NYC and would easily put the show in the top ten of any I have seen.I do not make that statement lightly as I have seen between 450-500 shows dating back to 1973, and I've got most of the ticket stubs to prove it. Great songwriter, very good singer and guitar player, if you have the chance to see him, by all means, GO. (and don't forget to sing along to some of the best rock and roll anthems of his or any generation! )
  20. Thanks for the opinions guys. I just saw a pair of KHO-7's trade on Ebay for $202 plus $20 s/h. ( an open box trade.) I won't need these until spring, so I'll keep watching the Garage Sale section to see if a forum member posts any of the above for sale. Thanks again.
  21. Anyone have any experiences to report with the Klipsch AW series? The Boston Acoustic speakers that came with the house are starting to give up the ghost and I will be looking to replace them. I've checked out the AW 400, 500, & 525's here on the website for general info. Has anyone here heard them? Thanks.
  22. Bank your refund and move on to the next trade. Seems to have made a small good will gesture with a discount on a future purchase. I was bidding on a pair of Klipsch AW-400 speakers which ended yesterday, (I got beat on a last second bid) and received an email this am saying the auction was removed, no reason given. No harm, no foul. Ebay doesn't broker the trades, they just collect the vig.
  23. "For me, a 9/11 moment of silence happens just about every day." I hear you Stan. My wife and I live in Battery Park City directly across the street from the WTC. We have no choice but to be reminded of 9/11 every single day. We lost over 40 friends, neighbors and co-workers on that day and it pains me to see folks in this country blame our government for this heinous act of terrorism. At work today we are listening to the names of the dead being read from Ground Zero and it is difficult to hear the names of people you worked with and remember the horrible way they died. Cherish their memories and never forget that terrible day.
  24. The WAF (wife approval factor) was pretty low when I brought home my Cornwalls a couple of weeks ago, I guess she never figured she would miss the Heresy II's !
