  1. Try the Bottlehead website. They have been in business quite awhile, have a very active forum, and really top shelf gear. I have a Foreplay preamp and their 2A3 based Paramour amps. I did not build them originally, but have done some mods on them. Great introduction into tubes and they sound great with Klipsch efficient speakers.
  2. My SVS is awesome! I highly recommend any product they produce.
  3. 1)Diana Krall-The Girl in the Other Room-TGitOR 2)Alison Kraus-Down to the River to Pray-O Brother Where Art Thou 3)Stephen Stills-Treetop Flyer-Stills Alone 4)Craig Chaquico-Native Son-Acoustic Planet 5)Mark Broussard-Home-Carenco 6)Jeff Beck-Led Boots-Live at Ronnie Scotts All these recordings are very well recorded with little noise and very black backgrounds. After playing parts of these 6, I walk around and pick the jaws up off the floor.
  4. Congrats!!!!! Mark made some great gear-I love my Merlin preamp=you got a Blueberry also. did you not? You now have truly top shelf, audiophile class, crazy good gear! Enjoy

  6. Yes. Pioneer VSX92-Tx with Khorns, Heresy II;s, and Chorus II's. Sounds great to me and everyone who has heard it.
  7. I'm in Gulfport and would be happy to let you hear a Heritage system. I have Klipschorns, Heresy II's, and Chorus II's here and LaScalas at my cabin in Inverness.
  8. I have a SVS 12/2 sub that I use only for HT because my Merlin has only one output-I share my Khorns with my 2 channel system and my home theater by using a Niles DPS-1 selector that allows 2 inputs to one set of speakers-you have to buy the pin type banana speaker cable ends to go in their tiny connectors-but it works fine
  9. heck of a deal http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108713
  10. I added an LPA-1 to my Pioneer Elite 92 which is 135 watts per channel-the LPA-1 is only 125 per channel and I am amazed at the difference in volume and clarity-separates are definitely worth it. I can hear things I never could before I added the Emotiva. I highly recommend it. Beef up your shelving-these things are heavy!
  11. I have a pair of Heresy II's wired in series on either side of my console-they sound great and match well with my Khorn fronts and Chorus II rears.
  12. Have mercy!Been waiting on the bus all day! I got my brown paper bag and my take home pay. Billy Gibbons If I have to pull this thread over there's gonna be @#$% to pay!
  13. I got my pair home in the back of my Xterra with the seats down. Get a hand truck and some padding to get them out of the house.
  14. Let's all talk Boxx into selling all his gear and then just bloody hiring PF to perform DSOTM and invite all of us over to listen. I promise to agree that it was the best version I have ever heard. That I remember.
  15. I'm surprised that no one has chimed in and suggested any of the Welborne mono's. I'm quite happy with my Merlin and Welborne Laurels with my Khorns. There is a pair of DRD's on Audiogon as we speak.
  16. Try this--- http://www.nilesaudio.com/product.php?prodID=DPS-1&recordID=Source%20Switching%20Systems&categoryID=Switching%20Systems&catcdID=10&prdcdID=FG00003 I found one on ebay for $30.00 shipped but haven't been home long enough to hook it up. Another forum member said it would work. You always have to have a clear path to speakers from a tube amp-make sure the switch is open to your speakers before you fire up your tube amp.
  17. I have a wooden boat owner that has kept me in rice and beans and speakers for some time now keeping his 1972 Grand Banks 50 afloat. Some folks just like restoring things. A wooden boat has a certain "feel" that cannot be duplicated in fiberglass, steel, or aluminum. Men have been going to sea in dead trees a lot longer than anything else!
  18. Wow Guys! I can't believe it looks like that now compared to when I saw it just a couple of weeks ago! Good work and sorry about that tube thing!LOL
  19. Thanx Coytee, I have one on the way-I made the guy a lowball offer and he took it($20)-I would think that if the switch is on leaving a clear path from a tube amp to speakers it won't be a problem-I'll make sure I turn it on before I warm up my amp.
  20. Ditto to the checkbook-I heard a pair of these last week with a Juicy Blueberry and Cornwalls and I have already bought the guys Merlin and am shopping for some monoblocks-I can't afford the VRD's but this was the best system I have ever heard-turn back before it's too late!!!
  21. I have my Klipschorns hooked up as fronts to my home theatre but would also like to use them in a two channel system-does anyone have a recommendation for a 2 input switch that would work? How about---http://www.nilesaudio.com/product.php?prodID=DPS-1&recordID=Source%20Switching%20Systems&categoryID=Switching%20Systems&catcdID=10&prdcdID=FG00003 The wire size is a bit small but I could put on pins instead of banana plugs Any negative opinions? Thanx captmobley
  22. Last evening I responded to a Craigslist ad for an Academy center. When I got there the guy took me into his den and demo'd the best sounding system I have ever, ever, ever(did I say ever!) heard. 1976 Cornwall II's, Juicy blueberry w/cream preamp, NOS Valve VRD tube amps, sourced from his computer and a Sony Cd player. Absolutely fantastic! Now you have to take into consideration that he has about $6K in amplification, but what a sound. By the way, I didn't buy the Academy, but I did take home a Juicy Merlin preamp! And am now on the hunt for a good tube amp and a pair of Cornwalls. The Marantz will definitely be plenty of power, but remember watts aren't everything. I have powered my Khorns with a 2.5 watt tube amp and had plenty of volume. Try a tube amp if you can.
