  1. Dtel and Christy, thanx much for the hospitality-I really enjoyed the visit-I guess I'll never be asked over again!LOL-I guess I opened up a big ole can of worms . If Klipsch speakers are addictive(and they are, boy oh boy, they are), tubes are good for an immediate trip to rehab!
  2. I have one in my garage system between my Carver preamp and my Adcom amp-if you have that configuration, you can temper whatever input you like-I was really impressed with the change in sound-It seemed to make it softer, more three dimensional, more soundstage and depth. It will get better with time when it burns in awhile. That unit is also prime for some tube rolling-http://grantfidelity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=90-try this link-enjoy!
  3. I have a 12+2 and think it's awesome. You're going to love your SVS: your neighbor's, however, could be a different story! Enjoy!!!
  4. I bought mine from someone who went with the quad HSU system! Most of us have the upgrade bug! Sometimes it takes an incredible amount of money and effort to actually make a discernable difference from what we already have!
  5. My SVS is awesome! I would buy another in a heartbeat and if you research the net, I don't believe you will find any negative feedback on any of their products. Keep an eye on Audiogon and Videogon and score a nice used one. A word of warning-it's bigger than most Buicks!
  6. Older gentlemen in their 50's? I resemble that! What? What? Whadyu say you little whippersnapper!
  7. Outstanding, museum quality work. How bout filling out your system profile so we can see what you are powering those beauties with!
  8. I did a little research on this amp and the consensus seems to be that the build quality is about what you'd expect for that price point. You have to realize that at that price there isn't going to be any warranty to speak of. i do have 2 Yaqin tube buffers that I paid less than $100 each used and they seem to be pretty good quality. I recently got a Sophia Baby integrated tube amp and am really impressed with the sound quality and build. There is quite a bit of good comment and reviews on the Sophia-there are usually a couple around on Audiogon or Audio Asylum for under $400.
  9. What's a "VINYL RECORD"? Is that one of those 8-track things you old guys listen to?LOL
  10. I just picked up a Sophia Baby integrated tube amp for $325 shipped and PP'd from Audio Asylum-great reviews and I was blown away with the soundstage and tonality. There are usually a couple on Audiogon and for the money!!!!! I've tried mine with both Chorus II's and LaScalas and I'm impressed with the little sucker!
  11. Happy Birthday, Hang on to that hair as long as you can! At my age, I've got it everywhere I don't want it and nowhere that I do!
  12. Isn't that what the garage(100 ft from the backdoor) is for?
  13. The difference in a HT system would be minimal. I use a pair of HII's placed on either side of my console wired in series as my center with Khorn fronts, Chorus II rears, and a SVS sub, and everyone that comes over leaves drooling. If you can, stay all Heritage and you can't go wrong. I have another pair of HII's in my 2 channel garage system and couldn't be happier. I would have used the other HII's as rears but the Chorus II's won't fit in the garage. Plus, I had to claim the space, if you know what I mean. You can always go smaller, but I meet with resistance when I try to go bigger.(GAF-girlfriend acceptance factor)
  14. Duane Allman Sonny Landreth Hubert Sumlin-Bonnie Raitt calls him GOD!(Howlin Wolf's guitarist) Robert Cray SRV
  15. Try dealing with boats if you want to know depreciation! There is only one true measure of value---emotion...
  16. Ijust purchased a Yaqin tube buffer($60 on CL) and installed it in my garage system(OPPO 971,Carver 26a pre,Adcom 535II, Heresy II's) and am totally blown away by the difference in overall smoothness-definitely an inexpensive foray into tube gear.
  17. I live in Gulfport,a suburb of St. Petersburg where the Dali is located.
  18. I would love to attend if I am in town-If you would, keep me posted-I'm just over in St. Pete
  19. did you try dr. Cilantro on the forums-he usually has a ton-checked and tested
  20. Pay attention now-- Repeat after me- My name is Michael and I'm a Klipschaholic. Okay, Now everybody- My name is_____............. feel better now? Good! Keep coming back!
  21. Celine is like a CD player-she just reproduces music-you want talent? try some Melanie Gardot-she writes all her own stuff, plays piano and guitar, and...... I'd definitely do her!
  22. Thanx for the help guys. I'm out on the water but I'll check it out when I get back on Wednesday-by the way-anyone have a mate?
  23. I just scored a single KP-302 off CL for $75.00-decent shape-looks like original woofer and horn-but how do I hook up to a home audio amp-the seller was a keyboard player and used it as a monitor it has 1/4" HF and LF inputs on the back? Thanx for the help
  24. Outstanding!!!!If you post another pic, I'd love to see what you're powering those bad boys with. Those amps are feeling like a red headed stepchild getting cropped out of the picture!
