  1. What do you find amusing? He always posts things like that..................you'll get use to it.
  2. Please make your font smaller so I can properly test out my new glasses.
  3. Oh I thought that maybe it could have been a component mismatch that may be the blame. In all fairness to Bob Crites, its not like he has an anechoic chamber or something like Paul Klipsch had. Bob must be voicing them by ear. He must have many, many happy customers that like his speakers just the way they are I'm sure. So what components are in your Cornscalas? He's not going to tell you no matter how many times you ask.
  4. I've never heard the G9000 but have a small G5500 and have listed to the 7070 8080 (own one) and the 9090 and IMHO the G series that I have doesn't sound anywhere close to the other series but that may have no bearing on the G9000 sound or what you like. The 7070,8080 and 9090 all have the same sound and plenty of power and they are a very warm sounding receivers and in fact instantly reminded me of the days when I had tube gear. When I just want to listen to 2 channel, it's only the Sansui 8080 that I turn on. I think you really need to listen to both series so you can decide. Good Luck!
  5. Welcome to the forum. I'm assuming it's a PD 5VH Atlas driver which is what I'm running coupled to Dave's Fastrac horn and networks that Dean built and the mids are clear and smooth and I've run them with everything from my Sansui 8080 to an Onkyo HT receiver as well as through Carver and QSC amps and never experienced anything that I would call edgy, so sorry I can't offer any help.
  6. Thanks for the offer Pete but I'll pass, for a couple reasons. First and foremost, I have no base line for comparison as I've spent zero time listening to them yet. I heard them at the sellers house long enough to be sure all the drivers worked. Once I got them home, I saw a couple things I didn't like. The terminals on the back were in a recessed cut out that didn't look finished at all. I have a terminal cup coming that will cover the ragged hole, seal off and look nice. 40% of the screws that hold the backs down felt stripped. I've bought some longer screws that will reach down into the fresh unstripped section of the backs and pull tight. There's no gasket on the back so I'll be installing one. Last (and worst) is the motorboards. The Velcro's loose as well as the material but glue will fix that. The biggest problem with them is the fact that when the Fastrac horns were installed, the motorboard wasn't cut! It still has the small opening of the stock horn cut into it. I'll probably have to strip the material and router out the new shape. And yes, I need to mod the crossovers. I won't be listening to these for a while, but when I get done, they'll be right. I'm also building a fence at my son's house and have a bathroom to finish here at my house. Time is short. I also may have a sub to build next month.................................. No problem, just letting you know that I would. As long as you're having to do all the refurb work, if you have anyway of getting a Beyma CP25 as they blow away the others, but you won't have room for everything in a stock box.

    List Your Least

Justin Boober would be very close to the top, what a dick head. Little "crap for brains" Wayne Pat Benatar Millie Vanille (or whomever was really singing)
  8. Hi Dean, I have a couple of questions, are the Cornwall crossovers still traveling around? Would the networks you built for my Cornscala version be something useful for Carl to compare with? As a reminder mine are Bob's cast woofers, Daves fastrac with Atlas drivers from Bob and Beyma tweeters. They aren't in use at the moment while I do some box modifications. Hey Carl, if these would be relevant for you to compare let me know and I can live without them for a while why I'm doing the mods and other items on my list.
  9. I really need to get one of the THT's built. I've had the plans for a couple years but can't seem to find the time, heck I just finally got Duratex on the SPUD I build a while back and have to wheel it back inside and start playing with it.
  10. That thing is huge! 300 lbs. I hope you know where it's permanent resting place will be. Can't wait to hear what you think.

    2 ch Sub

For music with the Cornwalls I can tell you from experience that the RSW 15 blends and sounds wonderful for 2.1 listening. I would assume that the other RSW's would also but I only own 15's.
  12. http://reconingspeakers.com/product/klipsch-rf7-k1089av-10-woofer/#prettyPhoto Says they're new and available for $155 a piece.
  13. I think they were just shy of $200, but I really don't remember and when I called, they didn't ask for a serial number but if you needed one I'm sure we could get you #'s. I did see a single RF7 ll on ebay for around 600 with cabinet damage but that would give you your woofers and then I'm sure you would have no problem selling the horn, driver and crossover, if Klipsch doesn't have them in stock anymore.
  14. Seems like Boxx has a good Buzzzzz from the post.
  15. A little late to the party, but I drink a lot of coffee, which doesn't make me an expert, just opinionated. If your water isn't clean I don't care how much you spend on coffee or gadgets so RO water or distilled is really where you should start unless you're on a well that happens to be 0 grain water and even then I would at least run it through a carbon filter, it takes great water to make great coffee, or anything else. I've used Bunn's for ever, with a basket, not a paper filter ( I just don't want to wait for my coffee and 3 minutes is acceptable) I've been addicted to Dunkin coffee for as long as I can remember and you can buy it and grind it yourself.
  16. I would just call the parts department and see if they still have the RF7 woofers in stock. I ordered one a couple years ago and they had a bunch in stock.
  17. Thank goodness for DVR's so you can just ff through all of the crap and just see the event.
  18. That's the heaviest template I've ever seen but if that's what you had laying around, it looks like it worked well. I would suggest to future builders to use a 1/4 or 3/8 hardwood underlayment to save their back. Looking good, I had a great time building mine and it's really a simple build so you get to see results quickly. Get er done!
  19. You want to use the lightest and thinnest material that will stay straight; I used 1/4 and 1/2" Baltic Birch but make sure when you make these that you use the same exact blade to rip all the time because if you change the thickness of the blade you will screw up your guide or your cut. You should also seal it when your done building it and store it flat when not in use.
  20. I was absolutely giddy on the way home from the woodworking supply store. Can't remember when I was this excited about a tool. For us "poor folk" until you can afford the investment into a fine tool like this one and don't have a table saw with in and out feed tables, you can simply make accurate guides for your circular saw using about $15-$20 in materials and you can make one for different size materials (I have 3 different ones) as well as guides that will work regardless of which side you're cutting on and they are much faster than trying to do the math on every cut to compensate for the blade offset, you simply measure and take two quick clamps and put the guide on the marks. I still want one like Carl's, but until I pull the trigger, the guides or the table saw will have to do. Did you use it yet Carl?
  21. Do you have room in your tower to add another hard drive that would act as your mirror drive and then just add 1 external? You should be able to transfer the back up on an internal faster than an external and then just run your backup routine to the external as needed if you keep adding to your library of music, pictures or documents. For as cheap as big hard drives are, I wouldn't worry about file conversion to FLAC but if you transfer your music to other portable devices for playback that don't have a lot of storage you might want to batch convert them to a decent quality lossy format and have the WAV files as well as MP3. TigerDirect has WD 2 TB Black SATA 6 7200 RPM internal drives for $160.00 and 2TB USB 3's for around $140, which is really a small investment to protect that large of a collection IMO. Do you currently have any form of back up? If you don't, Vice Versa is a great program that I use to back up all of my machines at the office as well as at home.
  22. That is a fine tool and on my list so please let us know how you like it, although I know you're going to love it if you've never used it before.
  23. Congrats on the sale and welcome to the forum; will you be staying now that the sale has been made?
  24. Don't recall. But there may be a reason for that... Dave That answers my question!
