  1. Oh friend - we need to expand your sampling. Frankonia is good, but it's far from superb. Maybe sometime this winter I'll have some of you guys out to my house in BFE (20 miles east of McKinney) to sample some reference speakers and the Cinema F-20 sub, drink some beer, have a fire, etc.
  2. Oh man, oh man... I demo'd these back in February and they are fantastic. His daughter's friend actually texted her to see if it was us blasting the tunes. She lives about 2 blocks away.
  3. that's the once (or is it twice?) a month saturday farmer's market just off the square. take hwy 5 and turn on chestnut ..can't miss it.
  4. correct. in my case, all of my gear is racked in a cabinet. i made a shelf out of MDF and cut a hole in the middle for the plate amp, then run wires out to my sub.
  5. Hi Andy, I've been with the marketing department since 2004, and I'm sorry, but I don't think I've ever heard one of your ideas! Can you send them directly to me? And while we are under new ownership, the daily operations of Klipsch have not changed, and the marketing department that was before is still in tact. All that said, resources are tight, but we do what we can. burn.
  6. this is the amp I use. it has a HPF/boost at 20hz that so far has kept me from killing my sub, even when cranked while watching Tron Legacy, Flight of the Phoenix, etc. I still need to do some serious EQ'ing, but Audyssey MultiEQ XT has done a good job so far in making it all more than usable. http://www.oaudio.com/500W_SUBAMP.html edit: I just noticed the Bash 500 shows out of stock. If you can't wait, the Bash 300 should be more than enough for that driver/enclosure, but lacks the selectable HPF/boost switch. Instead, it is hardwired to 20hz which is where you would set it anyways on the Bash 500 model.
  7. the driver mentioned is what I have in mine. Personally, I would build 1 and see how it performs in your space. I have a pretty large volume and 1 is more than enough to pound me into submission, with not a lot of power required.
  8. but did you get the package i sent you? that's what i've been dying to know...
  9. keep in mind with the newer Oppo's that Cinavia copy protection support is mandatory, whereas it is not required to be implemented in in the 93/95 series because they were developed prior to Cinavia. It's not an issue for what the industry considers to be "honest" people, but plenty of "honest" people have raised concerns and had technical issues with yet another layer of crapware being implemented on the media signal. being anti-DRM doesn't make you a thief, nor has there been a DRM solution to actually beat the thieves. Just something to keep in mind.
  10. I'll also add that, while slightly more expensive, Logitech's Harmony 900 is a superb product - a vast library of product compatibility and absolutely no lag when sending RF commands to the IR blaster 25 feet away in a closet. There are definitely many ways to attack the problem and we are in a good era to be a HT geek.
  11. oh man, KLF-30s are on my list of choices for my lounge. Never can find a pair when i have the cash available, and if I do they tend to be outside the realm of reasonable pricing.
  12. very cool! princeton is starting to experience some urban sprawl from mckinney and other places. people want to "live in the country" and so housing developments are popping up all over the place in what was once farm land. it's forcing the town to clean up and add services, which is nice ..but i'm glad i live outside the city limits and am pretty much insulated from housing creep.
  13. it's all about compromise and what the room and your relationship will accomodate. The BEST solution would be another pair of RF-7's. After that, RS7's or a modern equivalent. After that, in-walls. I happened to have the in-walls from a previously installation and they really were my only real option if i wanted surrounds on my time constraints and budget a year ago.
  14. Try Klipsch Parts/Support, they may still carry it. Klipsch Technical and Warranty Support Toll Free: 1-800-KLIPSCH (1-800-554-7724) Mon - Fri, 8AM - 5PM ET E-mail: support@klipsch.com Bill while probably not ideal, I used the denon audyssey mic that came with my AVR with an rt-10d and had decent results.
  15. everyone really should be more alarmed by this. it could be a farce, but it could also put the heat on Klipsch if he holds their feet to the fire. The whole company could meltdown. the last thing we need is for Klipsch to go up in smoke. hopefully this hotbed of coals just fizzles out into ash..
  16. i use in-walls with my RF-5s and RC-7 ..works for the room. They dont pound your ears, but they keep up with the mains enough to fill in the surround effects.
  17. agreed. conveniently left out of the description is how he covered it in lighter fluid and lit it with a match.
  18. i'd like to see the folded horn enclosure that mates with that
  19. thank you sir. saving up for an adjustable bump-buster and comb so that I can really dial it in to fit me properly. also thinking about stripping the finish and giving it a satin oil treatment. it's hard to tell from the pics, but lots of nicks and scuffs in the original epoxy finish.
  20. thanks for the compliments guys! we are indeed very blessed and work daily to not take that for granted.
  21. ..or maybe just "confidence"? these items are courtesy of Christy, a.k.a Dtel's Wife. We've been very blessed by the support and care received by many of the members here as we have engaged in our first attempt at parenthood. 6 months later and we've got this super cool little kid with tons of personality and smiles, perfectly healthy and smart. oh, and she's already crawling.. Amy - Still waiting on those complimentary RF-7ii baby gifts.
  22. i think there would be a larger rate of failure if i AM home when this kind of thing happens. Living where I do, the understanding is that I will have to resolve any issues that arise in the amount of time it will take law enforcement to show up.
  23. I still think it's the cherry wood causing personality issues.
  24. I heard a rumor that klipsch speakers have a preference to black ash and will intentionally sabotage performance when mated to cherry.
