  1. I sent the email using the Contact--->"Email" option in your post. I wasn't being patient enough for the images to load. Thanks JJ
  2. e-mail sent. Also having troubles vewing the zipped images. Thanks JJ
  3. The "slight mods" I have heard about is installing new crossovers, which I think One Stop Bob (Bob Crites) has made in the past. As for RF-7's VS KLF-30's, most of the posts so far have touched on the major differences. The KLF series (10, 20's, 30,s) has more of a cult-type following. Once you own a pair of them, its hard to part with them no matter the circumstances. The 30's are one heck of an rock-n-roll, no holds bar set of speakers. They seem to bring out the best in the genre of music I tend to listen to the most often (60's-70's). No matter the quality of the recording, the 30's make the best of it. Of course turning up the volume doesn't hurt either..except maybe physically. The only reason why I don't have to 30's in service at this time is that I'm addicted to the "Heritage" sound at the moment and there isn't enough room to have them all at my beckoning call. For HT use, IMO, they don't do as well as the RF-7's. Don't get me wrong, the 30's do very well pulling double duty but the RF-7's win the HT vote in my book and they are not too shabby of a "musical" speaker as well. I haven't logged as many hours with the RF-7's as I have with the 30's so I wouldn't last too long in a heated debate over which one is better than the other. They each offer something different and no matter what you decide, you can't go wrong..They are Klipsch speakers..right!!??!! Good luck in your adventure. JJ
  4. Here you go Michael!! http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/106402/1072330.aspx#1072330 JJ
  5. It appears you have quite the mismatched set and I would at least get your front 3 speakers in the same Klipsch line and work from there. I have the KLF 20s/KLF C-7 paired with RS-3 surrounds and it works great. Like TKD, I had very good results using the RS-3's with KLF 30's and a C-7. I also tried using a RC-3 (I have a full RF-3 setup) but it just seemed like it couldn't keep up. The center channel is very key cog in a HT environment that it didn't take very long for me to replace it with the C-7. Good luck on your quest!! JJ
  6. JanK: Bob may also be able to help you with the woofer as well. He's a prime example of "One stop shopping"!! Good luck on your adventure JJ
  7. Noah: I was in the same situation as you are a couple of months ago and fell into a good deal at Walmart that I couldn't pass up. They had a great deal on a PS3 bundle and I was able to get the 80gig Console, the BR remote, 1 game, and 1 movie for $425.00 plus a Walmart Blue $75.00 on line gift certificate. The catch is that you can only redeem the gift certificate for on line purchases. I see that they still have a lot of bundles to choose from, but I didn't see the $75 gift card offer, My intentions were not to use it for gaming either but since I've been dragging my feet on buying a HDTV, I've been playing some of the Demo games from Sony's on-line store and I'm afraid to admit that I'm getting to like playing console games. Coming from a hardcore PC gamer, this is a little hard to admit. I did spend a lot of time weighing the Pro's and Con's of just getting a BR player as opposed to getting a PS3. The deciding factor was what the PS3 offers so many more options (Internet, USB capabilities, occasional gaming, wireless, music and movie server communication abilities, etc) to my HT environment. Good luck in your adventure, Noah!!! JJ
  8. Not a big X-mas music fan, but there is one that I do like: Bing Crosby/David Bowie singing Little Drummer Boy as a duet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKTHvW2JcAA JJ
  9. Another good source of Old Movies can be found on "Turner Classic Movies" website: http://www.tcm.com/index.jsp It has a very good search function (By director, actor, etc) but the prices are a little high on some of the movies. Thanks JJ
  10. Nice work Kevin!!! Looks like you have been finding ways to occupy your time between Fly Fishing trips. JJ
  11. Scott: Try this site. It's Milwaukee's PBS website that has October's broadcasts. http://www.mptv.org/listings/index.php?month=10&year=2008&day=1 JJ
  12. Larry: Please send me your address so I can send payment. There's a 60% chance that I'll be able to make the concert so I want to make sure I have a spot and you have the money!!! JJ
  13. My Guess: 1433 1/2... There has to be a broken one in there. [] JJ
  14. Larry: Put me on the tentative list and I will be able to make a decision well in advance of the Oct 15 payment deadline. I have to make this trip as cheap as possible as well as using the least amount of vacation time. The announcement of the 2009 pilgrimage really puts a wrinkle in the whole situation. Thanks to you all for offering up your time and your homes for this event JJ P.S. Thebes: If this is a go for me, I may have take you up on your offer. I'm a smoker as well and can tolerate a lot and can be right at home sleeping on the floor
  15. Mark: Yes. You would have to remove the rubber inserts in order to utilize banana plugs. I tried pulling one out with just my fingers and they are in pretty tight so it would take a lot to have them just fall out. Just for the record, all my RF-3 series (RS-3, RC-3, and RF-3's) have a hard plastic cap covering the binding posts instead of the rubber inserts the KLF 30's have. Hopefully someone else will chime in regarding the woofers, but the audible sound of rubbing voice coils pretty much rules out a lot of potential problems. JJ
  16. Bonzo: I just checked my KLF-30's and they do not have caps, but they have inserts in all the binding posts. As for the woofer issues, the only thing I can suggest is to make sure nothing has come loose. Is there any indication that something is rolling around in or against the cabinet? JJ
  17. I can't add any more speaker suggestions that haven't already been referenced but I can give you my .02 worth based on my experiences. Like you, my favorite genre of music is Classic Rock and IMHO, the KLF-30's of the Legend series would get my vote. I'll try to explain how I arrived at this conclusion. The KLF 30's are very forgiving if the source material is not up to snuff, which is often the case in Classic Rock CD's that I own. I have several CD's that became unbearable to listen to when played through my K-Horns and Belles, with the Cornwalls doing a better job of it, but no where near the KLF 30's. In regards to the Forte and Chorus lines, I don't have enough listening time with these series of Klipsch speakers so I do trust the others' opinions on their capabilities. Hey..They (Klipsch) are all good, but in some cases and situations, some are better than others. Thanks JJ
  18. Greg: You mentioned on the your site that it took 2 4X8 sheets of veneer to do the K-Horns. --- It took two 4 x 8 sheets of veneer to do the Khorns. I got the veneer from Oakwood Veneer. Cost was about $350. It took a gallon of glue for the veneer on this project, which was about $50 with shipping.--- Did you have to do any splicing for the top hats? It looks like the bass bins are just one sheet, no splicing, correct?!? Thanks JJ
  19. I can't help you in your choice but I can pass along the following!! You also have to allow funds for some of the accessories as well; and they do add up!! 1. Cleaning brushes 2. A good test record 3. Tracking force gage(s) 4. Cleaning solutions 5. Cleaning machine (if you are lazy and don't want to do them by hand)[] 6. Zerostat Gun There are a lot of posts mentioning great recommendations of what to get for the above mentioned items. Have fun!!! JJ
  20. I'm sorry I can't help you, but Carl (cjgeraci) is the man you want involved in this discussion. He's got more "Y" splitters in his system than anyone I know. Not sure he hangs out in this section very much, but you can find him in the "2 channel" forum. Thanks JJ
  21. Excellent Feedback guys!!! Thank You!! I need all the 'Electronics' advice I can get so keep the suggestions coming on what to use for this adventure. I've been wanting to do this for some time but kept putting it off because I wasn't convinced that it would make much of a difference to justify the cost and time. Now that I have actually heard a 3 CH set-up, the project is not on the back burner anymore. In anticipation of setting up a 3 CH system, I've acquired the speakers (2 KHorns and a Belle) and also purchased a resistor box that DRBILL had made. My initial thought was to use all 'Tube' amps to pull this off but due to having a run of bad luck with Tube amps, I'm switching my game plan to utilize Solidstate Amp(s) and DSP processing. Now its time to get the basement squared away to make this all happen. Thanks JJ
  22. Somehow I misplaced the handout that was passed out as well as my notes that I made during the demonstration. So, if anyone can post or send me a copy of the handout, it would be much appreciated. Also, a list of the equipment that was used for the demonstration would be helpful as well. Thank You in advance!!! JJ
  23. Wuzzzer: Where in WI were you fishing? The area looks familiar to me for some reason. As for a 17" Bass, they go about, 8 pounds or so.[] JJ
