  1. I use a combination of rolling different sets every month. Does this mean I don't have favorites. Surprise, lol.
  2. Excellent system indeed! With my Forte and other to channel systems, I never needed tone controls. Setup was mostly setup. The Forte is the one speaker that I wish would fit into a room. Simply put, I have enough gear, lol.
  3. I have a little Klipsch sub from the HD 500 series and it is still going strong over 10 years.
  4. First, are you hearing something you do not like? Some of these mods have diminishing returns.
  5. Yes! Some folks should be careful running sine waves: it is way to much for many subs the lower the frequency and does not represent anything in 99% of movies or music. Here is a test for you subwoofer: Search bass test 5-100 Hz. The site is not allowing me to copy and paste the address. Download the first video and play on your system with caution.
  6. The mention receivers are all good. Can't say one brand is better than the others. Research the feature that you want. Some of the receivers have discrete amps. This is different than some cheaper receivers. A 125 watt receiver with all channels driven may outputting 35-40 watts per channel. With a discrete 125 amps in the receiver it will be closer to the 125 watts. The Pioneer room correction is also very good. There receivers allow a lot of tweaking post calibration which allows you to adjust to taste.
  7. I would not get speakers from a different manufacture. Search tempest is your friend to find a pair of RB 25 or 35's. The local Craigslist is also a good resource. Welcome to the forum.😊
  8. Here is a good buy and lot of extras. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/pioneer-elite-9-2-ch-hi-res-4k-ultra-hd-a-v-home-theater-receiver-black/6199201.p?skuId=6199201&cmp=RMX&extStoreId=309&ref=212&loc=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwidPcBRCGARIsALM--eP0NTNmSIH_S9vamQNjXH5VO1PfM6PIK95p41eBjAkfWDPaYtyq60kaAgadEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/AV-Receivers/Elite+Receivers/VSX-LX503
  9. The spout appears to be a nice amp. How do you like it?
  10. Congrats on some great speakers. Post some pic's or it didn't happen, lol. The oiled oak are beautiful. Clean them up with some 00000 steel wool and your favorite wood restorer.
  11. Bi-wire and Bi-amping are different. Use the proper gauge wire for the speaker and there is no need to Bi-wire. Bi-amping is using a seperate amp for the HF and LF driver. Many of us have tried passive bi-amping and the result was nil. Anything that can't be solidly proven after all the year by the majority of experts and people is of little benefit. Spend the money on room Tx's.
  12. You don't need to use two amps for the front speakers.
  13. The older preamps don't have bass management. A good stand alone parametric EQ will give you the ability for some bass management. But, before venturing into this, be ready to take some room measurements with Omni mic or REW.
  14. I would stick with Reference speakers looking at the width of your room.. I would also try to get a sub in the rear of the room. Nothing wrong with getting an RC 64 III, II or I. They all all excellent center speakers. An older series my save a few coins.
  15. If this system is used mostly for HT, why do heresy speakers. First, what is wrong with what you have, how big is the room, dedicated HT or multipurpose?
  16. Usually it generally recommended to set the speaker to small when using one or more subs. In many cases running the speakers set to large with subs will cause problems Is the power switch set to auto? This can lead to clicking, otherwise there is an amp problems in most cases. Set it to on and leave it on. Here is a good read on why you don't run speakers set to large:http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=95817
  17. That is a simplistic view. Most of us are not using high level input just because most modern preamp/avr have a dedicated LFE/subwoofer channel and bass management. What system do you have, what are the XO's, and is the system for music vs movies.
  18. I would try several XO since you are using subs. Eighty to 40 Hz is worth experimenting with. You don't know what effects the room are imparting on the measurement. The curve that will have the most impact on what you are hearing is Main + subs.
  19. I have not seen any data on the RF 7 III impedance. The original RF 7 dip to 2.7. I used a cheap Sony receiver on the RF 7 witch was design for 8 ohm nominal speakers. Most amp that can handle 4-8 ohm speaker will be sufficient.
  20. Most of us use a minimum of 100 watts SS amp/receiver for any of the RF 7's. You should be OK with the Musciscal Fidelity: just don't go crazy on the volume knob. I have used a 100 watt Sony receiver in a 5.1 HT with no problem. All channels running, the speakers most likely seen no more than 35 watts.
  21. No collusion! Witch hunt! Let's get back to the games this past week end. This was the best week for many of the ranked schools to loose. There is plenty of time to climb back up in the polls. Week 2 will tell the real problems some of these teams have.
  22. SWL, I can't remember if you have a dedicated HT with seats in row or a HT with couch, chair, furniture, etc. If it is the later, there may be enough diffusion in the room. In general, you only need to diffuse high frequencies to decrease brightness and improve clarity. High frequencies fade rapidly compared to lower frequencies. For my HT, I don't use diffuser due to all the furniture and other things in the room. Before doing all this, it would be nice to do some Omni mic or REW measurements. A lot of add a piece of gear or room TX with the trial and error method and always hear an improvement. Acoustic science needs reliable data and interpretation.
