  1. I think it was plastic wood or something like that. If you have a lot of missing material, bondo works well. I used contact cement. 2 applications of glue to the speaker and 2 to the veneer. No issues. I haven't tried to cover walnut so I cannot say how easy or difficult that would be. I sanded the speakers down before trying to veneer to get a little more tooth for everything to grab onto. I would suggest a paper backed veneer in any case. Cherry is good but it will get red over time if exposed to sunlight. Something to keep in mind if you go that route.
  2. I have birch cornwalls that had some decent damage to corners and edges. After fixing that with wood fillers, I re-veneered using walnut. I left the back edge of the cabinet where the factory stamped serial number information alone as my stickers were gone. I also built new risers as those appeared to have water damaged or dry rotted from being here in the Az desert. There are several build threads here from people who have done this. Good luck in whatever you choose to do!
  3. iPad is so much smarter than me. Bondo = bonds. You might need to remove the entire side. Actually might not be that bad if you are going to paint or re veneer.
  4. All I see is Bill Murray in caddy shack saying "I don't think the heavy stuff is gonna come down for quite a while" Probably won't buff out but unless the entire thickness of the plywood is compromised, you should be able to fill in with bonds or similar to get a solid substrate.
  5. Dimensions to build your own?
  6. Matt I feel you here! I'm doing the same thing but I'm hoping to get a 65-68 Mustang fastback that's been lightly resto- modded. Or I'll blow my meager savings on the first pair of khorns in the Phoenix area. Good luck on the journey! A recovering muscle car owner. Ryan
  7. That looks like the palace of the last emporer of Korea. I had a colleague take me there when I visited.
  8. Also not to derail but it's been a while for an atmos release. The force awakens was shown theatrically in atmos but the blu Ray doesn't include it.
  9. The first movie I watched when my atmos theatre was done was Gravity. There is a scene where Sandra bullock is flipping a toggle switch over her head and it clicks over your head too. It's a small scene but the whole destruction of the station and hopping from one transport to another is cool. I demoed the system to friends and I always pull Mission Impossible Rogue Nation. Opening scene when the military transport takes off with Tom cruise hanging on the outside. The power up of those engines and take off is pretty cool. Also like the scene from the wall with the airplane overhead. Cool stuff.
  10. Cool deal here. Helping another Klipsch fan out! Karma baby!
  11. Lets see an offer like that closer to me! Hope someone can get them. I've noticed the stuff on eBay (for example) has gone up in minimum pricing since the msrp increase at Klipsch.
  12. One of the top selling albums of all time, based on Wikipedia. And the Internet is never wrong.
  13. +1 vote for replacement grilles. Lots of people here have made new ones but results can vary. Cloth options are obviously part of that purchase.
  14. Good sale. If your friend wants to move those khorns I'm in the market!!
  15. Saw the ad a couple days ago. Too much for me at the moment. Keeping an eye out for something local-ish
  16. The VERY slow trickle of new atmos titles is disappointing. Especially when the theatrical releases are mixed for atmos. I mean 7.1 is still great but c'mon when you've got the technology why not go for it? :/
  17. Another month plus and not a lot added to BD +atmos... Is there a list somewhere showing upcoming releases with atmos mix?
  18. Rock I've got a Sony 5 cd changer with remote gathering dust. Price is shipping if interested. I'm not even sure what that is but can't be more than $30. Let me know. Ryan
  19. $425 is a good price. I got my 80s for $460 and had to re-veneer, refresh crossovers and make new grilles. If yours is mainly cosmetic that price is pretty dang good.
  20. How about a partial trade for my cornwalls??
  21. Buried in some odd thread. Didn't see it for obvious reasons.
