  1. Chris, You wrote on another thread a comment about building 2 more K-402 MEHs. Where in your system will you position these 2 new ones?
  2. The subwoofer in this picture was for the other speaker set in the room. The Forte IIIs produced good strong bass, sounding better than the specs would have you guessing.
  3. That mid driver missing the label appears to be a K-55-M.
  4. Now that jimjimbo has pointed it out, it appears the images in that 1980's brochure picture were cut and pasted. The specs for the years of those speakers pictured indicate the La Scala is 35 1/4" tall, the Belle is 35 5/8" and the Cornwall is 35 3/4". The Klipschorn style B is 52" tall.
  5. These square magnet K-33E woofers are in 1983 La Scalas.
  6. Here are some SPL meter readings of 103db at one meter and 93db at four meters from one Klipschorn, and the corresponding amp output voltage reading of 2.9 VAC, approx. 1 watt. 103db of pink noise at one meter sounds like a blast furnace. So, 2 watts x 2 Klipschorns can realistically be claimed to be loud enough for most people, depending on your listening preference, the size of your room and the dynamic range of the music. For comparison, using the same SPL meter while sitting in the middle of the audience at a symphony orchestra concert, I usually get readings in the mid 90dbs with 100+db peaks. My voltage readings lead to a new question. Why did the volume knob on a 60 watt SS amp need to be turned to the 2 o'clock position for a 1 watt output? I also plugged in several different music player sources and they all reach similar SPL readings at that knob position. So do we need multiples of watts to turn it up just a little bit more?
  7. Your Jubilees look good. We all want to see more pictures. You may be able to post smaller picture files. On your computer's photos page, look on the toolbar for EDIT, or right click the picture itself and a menu may pop up with EDIT. Click RESIZE and type in a smaller percent or pixel number, then SAVE. This procedure may vary according to different systems and software, but once you figure it out, you can post lots of pictures.
  8. Great job laying out the wood grain pattern across the two bass bins. That Tiger wood is nice. Looking forward to seeing more pictures.
  9. I have always enjoyed reading your comments, but this one has me wishing for a SPL number so I can relate to what "loud" enough at 2 watts is. If you have a smart phone or tablet, there are some free apps for SPL meters. There are also pocket size SPL meters available online for about twenty dollars. These may not be scientifically accurate, but are very handy for casual reference measurements.
  10. I agree about the Klipsch model Fifteen, and the other self powered Klipsch speakers.
  11. Have you considered getting digital active crossovers sooner, rather than next time?
  12. A view of the Forte III passive radiator, as seen in the Klipsch exhibit at CES.
  13. wvu80, In the bottom picture of the three you posted, it appears that the uninsulated common wire is also looped under the screws in the positive position of the tweeter and squawker connections on the barrier strip. So maybe that is normal for the AL series. Thanks.
  14. In the picture you posted on page 12 with the crossovers placed side by side, it looks like both are wired that way and probably have been since new. It would be interesting to see comparable pictures of some other AL crossovers.
  15. I always suspected there was ANOTHER qualified reason my tri-amp Klipschorns sound better than my passive x-over Klipschorns in the same room.
  16. Well, that is going to make my occasional REW activities much more fun to look at.
  17. I don't think the vertical lines are phase shifts, but are breaks in the sloping line so it can fit within the space of the graph display. Maybe someone can explain to us how to "unwrap" it when we use REW, and read the phase graph accurately so it can be easier to interpret. Interesting project you are doing, thanks for sharing.
  18. This is a solid looking amp. More power than most of us need for our bi-amped woofers, but interesting to see and hear a product like this at the audio show.
  19. Many audio system installs can benefit from a couple of bass traps. Get on a stepladder and listen to the bass in the upper corners of the room and compare that to your listening position.
  20. My Klipschorns are backed up with solid core door slabs, even in the good square room corners. Better bass response than you get from typical hollow wall construction. Easy to screw two sawed off doors together and they just sit in the corner. No mods to the speakers. Inexpensive if you can find some used doors from an office remodel job.
  21. One or two degrees incline should not be a problem.
  22. I have not used the Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, but it seems to be a durable high quality finishing treatment, from reading the product description and it's price tag. I don't have any experience with Goncalo Alves, but it is a naturally oily wood, so you could try a less costly oil finish (as suggested by jorgen) on some test samples. On the few projects I have done, I made extra veneered pieces, cut off little blocks, applied different finishes and then labeled them, so I can study my own variety of samples to see what works best for that specific project.
  23. That row of boxes in the factory look a lot like Heresy III cabinets.
  24. Your speakers look as good as new. A few days ago I pulled my rarely used Heresy IIIs from a shelf and placed them on top of a pair of subwoofers. I am really surprised at how good this combo sounds, with the tweeters at seated ear level and the subs giving me control of the bass, fine tuning the sound depending on the type of music played.
