    Wet runway testing

I am also a fan of the F-22, but I understand the need for a single solution fighter F-35 (I'm not sure what the "B" variant is). +++ Among other things, my son works with the C-117 Globmaster. If we're talking Navy, it hard not to like the F-18 Super Hornet, or the F-14D Tomcat.
  2. I've got news for you; cooking steaks involves more than just taking the meat out of the fridge and slapping it on the grill. You could do that, but if you want to enjoy the perfect steak, you'll get better results if you understand a few basic guidelines for how to prep your steaks for the grill. I'm just waiting for the post where XO design is compared to a fine wine. We can really have some fun with that.
  3. I think a week is a good time to wait. It gives us time to formulate some proper moderator questions, and let the candidates post their answers, so we know who to vote for. For instance... "If you were the general of a Klipsch army that was surrounded, and you had the Pioneer army on the east, and the Bose army on the west, which way would you attack, and with what weapons? Any other good moderator questions?
  4. It's probably not too hard to sell a $50 high quality piece of electronic gear the owner complains is "ridiculous loud." It would be like complaining that your girl friend is "too good looking."
  5. Was teasing. Look at my "title"... LOL! That's good, but you've gotta work on those emoticons! You used the "mellow" emoticon, of which I have NO idea what that means. I use the "rolling eyes" emoticon a lot, because I think it is the closest thing to an indication of sarcasm that I can find. (the good kind of sarcasm, like that great dry wit that mid-westerners have) I knew you were kidding, but your "title" in that Avatar section escaped my aging, but usually eagle eyes.
  6. Not me! What is that expression, "if nominated, I will not run, if elected, I will not serve?" There are a LOT of really good people on this board who would do a fine job, IMO. As far as doing the job of moderating, this crowd is fairly well behaved. I have noticed it can get a little personal when it comes to topics such as the prices on various gear, the clarity of capacitors, and other such important issues. +++ I would like to nominate a long time Klipsch aficionado, Mr. Beeker.
  7. Dave, Store them in Nate's garage as he won't notice and slip them in to your house after your next vacation. Your response is "Geez, honey...we haven't been gone THAT long. Can't believe you don't remember them." Spppppptsssss...YOU OWE ME A MONITOR! Oh man, you know what makes that funny? You are probably right. (and by "probably" I mean 99%) I could put them in Nate's garage, and in a few weeks after a visit, claim that Nate "gave" them to me...hmmm. You are a BAD influence! +++ Minor thread drift: I have been giving careful consideration as to how to perfectly ship your grills, as they are irreplaceable in my view. I did not have the HDTV box I thought I did, but I found another box I might use. I am trying to make the grills "free floating" so the exterior of the box can take some crushing, but not put any pressure on the contents inside. I'll get those to you soon.
  8. Must-resist-making-offer... I've already been yelled at once today for having "too many speakers." This is not a good day for giving my wife just-cause to start the divorce proceedings, even though I fully admit, those speakers look good, and I DID think about it. +++ "Got the speakers with the house????" Geez!!!
  9. You can nominate them. They can decline if necessary. I would like to nominate Sancho Panza. Since you are already nominated Mr. CECAA850, I would like to second the nomination. And I'd like to take this moment to thank you, for sending me all those extra tube amps you sent me for free, and I assure you, it has nothing to do with my seconding your nomination.
  10. Hey. Am I not already doing a good enough job? You want I should rub somebody out? Dave Hey, enough of that kind of talk, you're a moderator now! You're supposed to get your cousin Vinny to take care of that for you. +++ Actually, I can think of a couple of guys not already mentioned who would make good mods. I'll put their names into nomination if they agree.
  11. Terrific, outstanding vid! In your honor:
  12. I have had a chance to listen to some vintage amps lately, and even though I had never heard a Sansui before, it is in my top two in terms of sweetness of sound (very live, articulate, super clean sound). I moved it around, it weighs a ton. The guy I am helping has a Sansui 9090 (without the Dobly) to sell, but as of now he seems to want to hang on to it, because even though he hasn't used it in a decade, he likes it. If you would, even in a PM, let me know if you get your asking price for it, it may help me get the right price for our friend. GLWYS
  13. I love the bada$$ look of the black, and the bike looks like "you." Keep the shiny side up, and the rubber side down.
  14. There are some things I am afraid to buy via on-line auction, like electronics. The Klipschites here a few weeks back helped me NOT buy an iPhone after I won an Ebay auction, due to some flaky replies to my questions by the Seller, and I don't regret walking away from that one a bit. The reputation of the Seller and customer service DOES matter for on-line transactions, to me.
  15. Grrrrrr..... +++ I am helping a guy sell of some vintage speakers and receivers, and in the corner of his garage is your Sportster! It is a 1971 and it has the 2 gal tank, kickstart only! He also has a 'Glyde of some type he also needs to sell, as his riding days are long behind him. I know the feeling, it's hard to get rid of that last bike, even if you don't ride any more.
  16. If you think about it, the next time, it would help if you would use a little higher res in your camera. The last pic came out fuzzy when I blew it up. And yes, I am following all your mods. +++ I have a small Sony camera that has a little round "mode" selector on top. I am ALWAYS knocking that mode into something else and I get bad pics until I notice and put it back on automatic.
  17. I am bumping this because I saw someone on AVS.com was looking for this unit. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/90-receivers-amps-processors/1606594-peachtree-audio-questions-help-appreciated.html
  18. Is it my bad eyes, or does that label say it is a La Scaia, and not ScaLa. Someone has dotted the "L".
  19. Guilty. (Klipsch RW-12d sub, hidden in the corner, sneaked in when she wasn't home. Thank goodness all speakers look alike, right? )

    What I Got Today!

All that gear belongs to Nate, a disabled Vietnam veteran. I'm just the helper bee trying to help him pare down the collection. It's funny you mentioned the "extras." In this next picture, there are so many speakers, you can't even see the not-one, but TWO Harley-Davidsons in the top right corner!
  21. If I won the lottery, I'd fly all my new-found Klipschite friends out to listen to my all-Klipsch setup, on my yacht in the Bahamas. +++ I love threads like this, because now that we're exchanging stories, I can justify buying my lottery ticket for entertainment purposes, instead of due to my gambling addiction.

    What I Got Today!

Referring to Earl's post: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/135353-what-i-got-today/page-47#entry1756142 +++ It was so great to meet you today, Earl. Nothing like a 90 degree day shopping for speakers in a garage! To our fellow Klipschites, Earl got the absolute cream of the crop of a very large collection of amps/speakers. Earl walked into this garage and instantly found the best values. You have both a great eye and a great ear, Earl. You guys say pictures or it never happened. Believe me, it happened. Those are Pioneer CS-63 DX speakers being used as a table to stack receivers on. I don't even know what to say about this picture. It's hard to see but there are some tower speakers laid horizontally on a shelf (just under the top, left florescent light) about ten feet up, that required Earl climbing an eight foot ladder to retrieve. Here's Earl praying that his hearing comes back after testing speakers with no other source other than country music. Almost Heaven, West Virginia! Right, Earl?
  23. $200 each? Yeah, I'll take one.
