  1. The guy obviously missed a marketing bonanza. He should put that they were once owned by Elvis which explains the bullet hole. Obviously cannot be proven since they were manufactured after his "alleged" death. Could have asked $110!
  2. Offer still good, if you want someone to go by and audition. You really cant go wrong if you get all of that equipment for $800, providing it is in good shape.
  3. I can do an audition for anyone that strikes a deal, maybe save you a trip. It is not far from me. Not sure about Hawks fans but would make an exception for a Klipsch fan. Living is St. Louis, I had no idea they played hockey this late in the year.
  4. If still in the St. Louis area. Tune in KSHE 94.7. Sunday mornings they have a classic's show that plays many seldom heard any more rock classics. Many that were popular here but not so much elsewhere. Doesn't start until 8. Always something that you remember but haven't heard in a while. Mostly 70's to early 80's. StL has a lot of great people and things to see/do. Post if you need anything while in the area. Your trip sounds like a good time.
  5. There have been several threads on this forum that ask this same question and no one seems to give a definitive answer. I think the best option at this point is for you to take one for the team and put the Kappa 15C's in and settle the debate for us all. I believe you have a pair of Belles that have K33s so you can do a side by side comparison for us. I have a strong feeling your answer will be "It depends"!
  6. They can be built much thinner with an 8" driver. You may be on to something. Where can I get some guidance? If it is simple math (reduce volume by reducing depth) I can give it a shot!
  7. Here's one THREAD I did follow that build, forgot how big it was! I think that is way too large for my living room and set on it's side and used a base, it would raise my Belle's 2 feet! I am using these for music only no HT (or organ music). I think I am going to build one of the 25 hz Tapped just for fun to see if it helps. (I would enjoy building it either way) if it works out, I will build a second one so I can raise both speakers.(once I have the router files set, the second one will be a snap). Thanks for the pointers.
  8. I think a pair of Table Tubas on their side would work better, Much more output. Thanks, it was probably wishful thinking on my part, but the size of the tapped horn looked perfect for what I had envisioned and looked like a simple build (no kit). I will look into the table tuba. I have heard about them but never saw the build design.
  9. What would you think about building a pair of these to use as base units (no pun intended) under a pair of Belle's? I could make them blend in well with the Belle and the size is almost perfect when laid flat. I do not have the space in my living room for anything much bigger. I do not need concert level spl but do crank the system from time to time. I noticed Rockhound is using a pair of these with his newly acquired La Scallas but have not heard how they paired up or if the add enough deep base to keep up with the high output of the mains.
  10. You guys peaked my curiosity and I unpacked, dusted off and fired up my RTR! It is an Akai GX4000D, not top of the line but any component that can be stored for 20 years and spring right back into action, cant be all bad. My youngest son, who is 23, claims he has never seen it set up before! The old mix tapes sound good and bring back great memories. I have one marked for a fiend of mine's 30th birthday - he's 56 now. Good trip down memory lane. I have 12 more reels to go through.
  11. I bet they sound every bit as good as they look. I am anxious to hear your assessment once you listen to them a while. I am also curious as to how you like you tapped horn subs with the LaScalla's. I have not found a sub I like with my Belle's and have been considering a horn design but don't have much room for the larger designs I have seen. Let us know what you think.
  12. Looking forward to that when my kids are older. My two older brothers and I showed our parents so much music......I have 3 sons and a daughter, they are always bringing new things into our musical environment. We share an iTunes account and sometimes I scroll through the "recently added" list and find some very good stuff (much of it is crap, but...) I also influence their tastes and as they get older, I find them playing my music more and more often. Just last week one of my sons asked if I had any Jethro Tull as he and a buddy listened to some over the weekend. I sat him down and played locomotive breath for him on my Belle's. He liked it even more!

  14. my daughter turned me on to him about a year ago. I had seen him in passing a few times before (crossroads festival), but once I started listening to him, I really like his music. Many talented people have worked with him which says a lot.
  15. With most Heritage speakers, location is key due to shipping cost. If you are any where near Little Rock you can make it work. He auditions them for you with nice McIntosh equipment. Not sure why he puts his prices so high, probably scares people away. If it works logistically offer what you think it's worth. I bought Belles from him and never regretted it. (BUT I paid about half what he is currently asking for the set he has now).
  16. The mid driver is a Selenium D405! I have dealt with this guy before. Stands behind his stuff all very clean, always asks too much, but is willing to negotiate. Not affiliated.
  17. Diet and exercise is the key not one without the other. One change I have made is stretching. I try to do it as often as possible and since I am not as regimented as I would like to be, I go once a week to a sports trainer to get muscles stretched that you cant do by yourself. Having a set schedule for this helps me stay on track. Since I started, I have considerably less back and leg pain and helps me stay relatively active. The pain makes you sedentary which is what you need to avoid. The low impact of the swimming pool has often been suggested to me but hard to work into my schedule (excuses are your enemy too.)
  18. Great set up seadog. My neighbors have been listening to great music all day today, whether they wanted to or not! I think his listening area is a lot more random than yours.
  19. During certain seasons it is almost impossible to tell a brown bear from a grizzly. The only sure method is to sneak up on them, kick 'em in the a** and run up a tree. If the bear climbs up the tree and kills you, it was a brown bear. If he knocks the tree over and kills you, it was a grizzly.
  20. Not sure if you will achieve good stereo "imaging" as that is difficult outdoors will little reflective objects and the speakers being above the listening area. Best to try the placement out before permanently attaching. Follow Chris' recommendations if you have an identifiable listening position. If you want a broader stage you may want to move the one on the left out a little further. You wont get great imaging but will still get a "depth" of sound as long as you can hear both speakers even if one dominates. More speakers will take away hot spots and may be better but gets costly. If there is a way to put a second pair actually facing in, you could get some reflection off your house that you don't get with two facing out and the sound heading out and never coming back. Some of the guys that went to Hope can help you configure your system to be heard by neighbors a couple miles away.
  21. Bump I am still looking for an answer from Thad on his Doppelganger telepathy comment. If it is just and attempt to confuse me, the jokes on you, I was already confused. Don't leave me hanging! I expect better treatment from a moderator of the new friendlier, kinder, Klipsch Forum.
  22. You will like the combination with the xover and the new tweeter. I switched my Belles to this configuration also. I can only compare it to what it sounded before and after (27 year old AB crossover) and it was amazing. Do what you can as others have mentioned but sit back and enjoy when done. There will always be theories as to better configurations etc. but the key is they will sound wonderful the way you have them. It's about the music and your listening enjoyment.
  23. Duder, I switched to the Crites CT150 tweeter to be able to handle the lower crossover in my Belle's. That's how I ended up with a good pair of K77s (square) left over. My AB crossover had to go! Thad, if on the very odd chance I understand what the heck a doppleganger telepathy is, I do have pairs for each option, but my guess is that is not what you imply. Or is this a case of pick on the newbie?
  24. I am in the process of rebuilding the cabinets for my 84 Heresy's. They have the round magnet K77s. I have a good pair of square magnet K77s that I took out of my 88 Belle's when I went with the Crites tweeter (w/ 4500hz crossover). Which would you put back into the Heresy's when the cabinets are complete?
