  1. Depending on how you use your system it may be absolutely fine for now. It should drive your system fine at moderate to moderate loud levels. If you are one that likes to crank things through the ceiling you will want to migrate to a more powerful unit. I use a Marantz which has always been more than up to the job. I don’t run at theatre level volumes because a. I find that to loud for my enjoyment and b. I live in a condo tower and such volumes would be pushing it. One of many nice things about Klipsch is how utterly clear and defined they are across the volume spectrum.
  2. It gets very good reviews. Ohm Accoustics used the 150 as part of their official set up at last year's NY Audio show. Would like to get one myself at some point.
  3. The CBC is a world unto itself its own universe of self importance. Think PBS but even more obnoxious and with commercials.
  4. I PVRed Long Time Running last night. It will be up and running tonight. A great band, several of the more popular watering holes here in Yellowknife played the live final concert from Kingston last summer on their big screens usually reserved for hockey and the Grey Cup. The Elks club had it outside projected and a large PA system set up for the audio at concert sound level. The next best thing to being there. The place was packed. My local pub across the street played nothing but nonstop Hip Thursday night.
  5. Have a pair of 61s and had a pair of 61IIs. Both are fantastic and my belated opinion would have been towards them because of the front port - especially the way you have them set up, pretty much like studio monitors. As much as I would like an office system myself, I would probably find it too much of a distraction.
  6. In the room size indicated you would probably be happier with the Heresey sub combo for sure. A lot more flexibility with set up. I have seen photos of people putting their Heresey on top of the sub which saves space and also raises the height of the horns closer to sitting ear level.
  7. They are nice but may be too large for desk top use.
  8. The 61 IIs and the RC 62 II. The mids and highs in the 61s are fantastic and the RC 62 is IMO the best centre channel speaker dollar per pound for the money period. Incredibly true and neutral, so much so that beleive it or not it works seamlessly (to my ears), with my Ohm Walsh Tall front mains. edit: I replaced a pair of 61s that I used for almost five years with the Ohms. They are great especially if you are using a sub. Tuned right they sound as good a floor stander.
  9. That is a real shame. Have you developed a plan for a replacement that would work better with your room?
  10. I would think head to head to keep the tweeters and midranges in approximately the same space. The bass is less directional.
  11. I agree, I enjoyed classical music with Klipsch as well as classic jazz when I was using them as front mains for music. That being said my Ohms do a better job with classical and jazz (IMO), which I attribute to their different imaging characteristics and the sound of my room, rather than the actual reproduction itself. The Klipsch I find in general to be superior with certain genres of rock and other music that is played live through PA systems because of the similar reproduction equipment. In the same vein, nothing can touch Klipsch for reference level HT - period. Just my theory.
  12. '76 Fiat 128, 77 Datsun B210, Chev Monza (late 70s). The Fiat was the most fun and the one I have the best memories of, the Datsun was quick and never broke down, the Monza was a dog.
  13. Very interesting, I may order one for my spare room.
  14. They may image better as the Khorn was originally designed to be a solo mono speaker. I have yet to hear a pair of LaScalas so I can't say for sure. My impressions of the Khorns were really about the clarity. I was younger and my listening tastes and habits were still pretty unrefined.
  15. Were it not for Steely Dan I may not have veered off into discovering the jazz world when I did. It was the jazz inflection in some of their music that broke me out of the 4/4 time blues box that I and most rock fans were living in at the time.
  16. I didn't see this thread before posting essentially the same thing. How does one remove it?
  17. Aja for sure, it was probably the most balanced of all their works.
  18. The 2017 losses continue to mount; I just read Walter Becker, co founder of Steely Dan passed away yesterday (Sept 3). Always enjoyed Steely Dan and when I was young they acted as my gateway to discovering jazz. Going to be playing discs from my Steely Dan collection today.
  19. I agree, they are IMO the best looking of the lot. Quite possibly the best looking speaker of all time.
  20. I have been watching this from the far north, incredible destruction.
  21. I think two things are converging at the moment. The young people are more singles than album oriented these days at the same time the record labels are in decline. Crappy quick hit singles are a revenue source.
