  1. "when they pull the plug on Win 10 I am out of luck. I think that is late 2024 so I have my window of time [ correction, October 2025]. " Thanks for the heads up on this. I figured the clock was ticking but hadn't heard a specific timeline. I'll most likely go with another Dell business class machine sometime in '23.
  2. It may be time, mine is of a similar vintage (Dell) and I'm having the same thoughts. Home computers tend to last longer than your machine at work but once you get past a decade... I note that your last Windows update was 10 in 2021. My system is using 10 and I recently discovered that it cannot be be upgraded to 11.
  3. Seems to be an appreciation for multichannel music - I haven't really heard it.
  4. There is some of that, however I know a good number of people switching back. Over time the novelty has worn off, weariness of a room full of speakers and not that many good movies anymore. I'm in that boat myself.
  5. Ideally for me anyway, would be the release of a three channel "stereo" amp. It could be called TV mode or something along those lines. I can live without the rear speakers very easily but value the centre when watching TV (and movies). Many of us watched TV with audio going through a two channel revievers for years before the advent of 5.1. Stereo was fine until I got hooked on having a centre. As more people drift from HT systems one would think a demand for a product like this would materialize.
  6. I agree. In a perfect world ( one with unlimited financial resources) we could have separate systems for differing purposes. For many of us, living space, and dual purposes demand solutions. There are a number of AVRs that sound great in two channel mode. I added mono blocks to my system and truth be told I hear a nickel's worth of difference. The blocks are now set aside for some unknown future use. My trusty old Marantz AVR gets the job done in a very enjoyable fashion in my space. Down the road who knows? I'll deal with that later.
  7. Looking forward to hearing this.
  8. Looks like Ft Myers is right in the direct path.
  9. Not only do my L/C/R not match, they are not even the same brand or design. Using Ohm Walsh Tall 2000 for L/R and a Klipsch RC62 II for a centre. They work together extremely well.
  10. My credit card and line of credit needs to be paid down and quickly. I'm working all the overtime I can get away with these days.
  11. Scary times for those carrying some debt - such as myself unfortunately. Glad I locked my mortgage in for five last year.
  12. Well it is a Klipsch forum, although many are audiophiles in temperament and listen to other designs. I am a fan of the Klipsch sound - just not for where I currently reside. My Ohms work better in the condo in which I currently reside. Once I retire and move Fortes or Cornwall are the goal.
  13. I have never heard any of the Wilson line in person. Very curious though.
  14. I have been using a pair of the Meze 99 Classic for a couple years.Very nice and one of the best in the sub 500 market. They punch well above their weight. The nicest headphones I've ever owned.
  15. Cindy snapped this as he was almost in front of us. A aboriginal lady beside us had a sweet Husky puppy (who's paw His Majesty shook - BIG dog lover). He then shook both my and my wife's hand as he and Camilla made their way back to the official car.
  16. The end of an era, may G-d rest her soul. G-d save the King! I shook his Majesty King Charles III hand this past May when he and the now Queen Consort were in Yellowknife.
  17. I hope you bounce back quickly.

Do they still sell the static guns? That was also part of the vinyl "tea ceremony".
  19. My last hearing test surprised both myself and my doctor - so far so good. My hearing was far better than the average for my age. Hopefully things stay the same for as long as possible.
  20. As we have seen in another thread, you can fix this. Fortunately the scratches are very minor. I'm glad they gave you discount and hope that it was deemed worth it to you, now you have a pair and are good to go!
  21. I can't see selling them. Just too nice and useful.
  22. When I bought stands about ten years ago I was thinking the same thing. My wife suggested coins - we had umpteen Scotch tubes that had become repositories for pennies over the years. Just poured them in and they have been there until this day; very heavy, solid and of course no leaking.
  23. Hugely popular in the UK and Canada when I was a boy.
  24. Interesting thread and some nice photos. I used to hack around when I was young and have recently been giving serious consideration to picking up a used Telecaster - have always had a thing for them. My new position is nowhere as stressful and time consuming as the work I had been doing. More time and being older may be the right combination for me to buckle down and relearn properly.
