I'd gamble and spend the 5 dollars!!
-
I haven't seen many, but another option is to do full grills.
-
Pretty sure Mr. Crites sells ready to finish risers.

Swap the L/R speaker outputs to see if the crackle follows. If it stay, it's the amp. If it moves, it's either cabling or speaker-related. Good luck! That would drive me nuts!

LS II's - Not sounding as good as I thought
baron167 replied to PeteVoxx's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Ahhh Yamaha...I feel guilty (almost) admitting this, but I have 2 HT setups using Yamaha's (with HDMI switching) and 3 2-ch systems using Yamaha's - 2 R-9's and 1 R-8. -

What comes to mind is how Klipschorns are known for bringing out the worst in systems. Sounds like the LS II's are able to do that now, too! -
Look like LA Scala II crossovers (part number 116646). Would like to see pics of your La Scalas. And nothing wrong with AA crossovers - many people prefer them.

Yup, I missed your link. Google is my friend lol.

I appreciate that, but no need. Happy to help!

here's a link to prices. Have you called yet to ask for clarification? http://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/pet_pri_wfr_a_epllpa_prs_dpgal_w.htm

Excellent! I would wait on the networks and not let this drive you crazy. Easy for me to say, I know! -

Sorry to hear this! Do you have another amp you can try to rule out the Marantz? -
I cannot speak to the III, but I have two sets of II's and would opt for the used II's and invest in a quality sub or 2. Good luck whichever direction you choose!

Wow! Glad I'm on the East Coast! I'd be in the dog house for Christmas if I were in driving distance!

I'm backing the AL-3's as well. Mine are still original and sound fine to me. I have no issues with base, however my Yamaha amp has a continuos loudness feature that let's me essentially roll the low end with the volume. I'm very happy with my La Scala's and I think you will be too. Happy listening!

I'm at work until 6:00 PM EST. I'm not loving it.

No affiliation. I reached out and got this info. I am passing on these as I prefer WO finish. "Richard, I purchased these in 2008 and upgraded the tweeters and crossovers soon after. I had read about the Crites revisions on the Klipsch discussion board. None of the drivers have issues. I've never driven them to the clipping point. The grilles are a little wobbly, and need the velcro tabs re-adhered. Cabinet finish is faded, but there is minimal scratching. They're very presentable I think. Best, Bruce" http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/ele/5885774016.html
