Have an old Teac X-1000R ... works like a charm Pretty sure the tape handling mechanism is driven by belts ... old age stretches those resulting in problems like yours. Find a good vintage technician and the fix should be fairly cheap

Anyone has any ideas on "minimalist" stands for these 510/691 horns? They are too nice just to sit on top of some speakers ... yes; can build a box for it, but have no clue where they will end up, so don't have final box dimensions. Like @No.4's stands (see pic) ... just a lot more work than I want to do ... was thinking just a 1x? on the front bottom with a brace for the driver. Thanks, Emile

Hi, Started a project on "foam board" speakers about 5 months ago. Was fun, but no longer have any use for them. Will also include another transducer speaker. See my thread ... Free (haha ... spend about $200 on it) if anyone wants to try to take this to the next level But ... you will have to pay shipping ... rough guess about $25. Cheers, Emile

Agree ... have this sub with a Dayton Audio SA1000 amp. Coupled with 3 Heresy's and KPT-904's up front it sounds awesome Yes; I don't bother to turn it on with music "only." Think the kit was about $300 and picked up the amp of CraigsList for $200 ... $500 just as in your budget Walnut veneered mine ... looks very good and passes "WAF." Cheers, Emile
