  1. Some of the original predictions for us up here in North/Central East Texas had us getting 6+ inches, but when the depression stalled down south for so long, things changed. I measured .06 inches of rain on Wednesday, .38 inches on Thursday, and so far .05 inches today. Basically, we are damp! On the positive side, with the rain we have received and the overcast, I haven't had to run the lawn sprinkler system! And, it has been too damp to mow; ah shucks!!!!! We are very dry up here and could have used more rain, but I'll take dampness over flooding!!!!
  2. IMHO, for quality or high-end items (audio, guns, etc.) the original boxes and packing always adds value and increases the interest in what you are selling! I rarely, and I do mean rarely, buy any used audio equipment without the original boxes and packaging and I never get rid of boxes and packaging either. Heck, I still have a Marantz 4400 (Quad Receiver) in the original box and Marantz overseas shipping box that I purchased in the Yokosuka, Japan Navy Exchange in January 1975 when I was transitioning back to NAS Miramar. It is sitting in a storage rack with all of my old Carver equipment, all in their original boxes! 😲
  3. Doctor Hogly Wogly's Tyler Texas BBQ on Sepulveda in Van Nuys? 😋
  4. I haven’t listened to this album in a while, so I took a trip back to 1973 this afternoon and gave it a spin. Sammy Johns
  5. Great play! That album and that song, "I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home)", has always been very special to me!!!!! When we left the Tonkin Gulf for the last time in 1973 and started our trip back home, they played that song over the USS Midway's (CVA-41) intercom system. I don't think there was a dry eye aboard that ship at that moment in time!
  6. Ten Years After – A Space In Time (Quadraphonic recording) Until recently, the last time I played the Quad LP was on my last Quadraphonic setup (Marantz 4400 and Sansui speakers). When I played the Quad album on my current Stereo setup, I was startled when guitars and other instruments appeared immediately to my left and right, not just to the front and outside of the speakers; I started wondering if I’d gone back in time and had four speakers in the room!!!!!!! The stereo album is a nice recording with a great soundstage and depth, but not to the extent of the Quad album. Here’s a picture of both albums; the Quad album will start spinning shortly. Also, here is a picture from 1973 with me in my apartment just off the ocean in Imperial Beach, CA. I’d recently returned from our 11–month participation in the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club. You can’t see it all in the picture, but that was my first Quadraphonic System (Sansui receiver & QS-800, Garrard Zero 100 Turntable, and Sansui SP3500 & SF2 Speakers).
  7. It’s A Beautiful Day – It’s A Beautiful Day from 1969
  8. Wal-Mart might have something similar, but have you looked at the Member's Mark 8-Cube Room Organizer at your local SAM's Club? It comes with 8 storage bin inserts, but you wouldn’t need those for record storage. I have the 6 Cube version and each cube area will hold 50+ LPs, so the 6 Cube version holds my 300+ albums. Unless the 8 Cube version is different, it should hold 400+ albums. They can be setup vertical or horizontal.
  9. Felt like some “Roxy Music’s Country Life” this afternoon. Hmmmm, posting a picture of the album cover might earn me some "warning points"!!!!! 😲

    Kreepy Klipsch

Back in the 60's, some of my high school and college friends and I hunted and fished around Fouke occasionally. I've seen the movie, but I've never actually seen the monster, or at least I don't think some of the unseen things we heard and thought we saw as movement was the monster itself! However, we had several night time encounters with something that we couldn't completely explain!!!!! 😳

    What I Got Today!

Actually, I’m a little late to the party and received this Denon ARV-X3500H a week ago. I have a Marantz SR5012 (2017 model) that I’ve been using for about a year and a half in our Living Room Home Theater System (5.1.2) and really like it, but I’ve always been curious about the Denon from the same model/feature/capabilities level, so I decided to try out the AVR-X3500H (2018 model) since it has some updated capabilities over the 2017 model. I’m still tinkering with the Denon’s settings, but I like it as much as the Marantz, but even to these old ears there are some subtle differences in the sound between the two (no negatives). I will keep both of them, but switch them occasionally.
  12. Here is how I solved it for my Marantz SR5012 and Denon AVR-X3500H. I created a Microsoft Word Document the size of the raised back area of the Marantz and Denon Remotes. Listed the Remote Button Labels and what devices I've assigned. Picture added.

    What I Got Today!

For a while now I’ve wanted to upgrade the front left & right Bookshelf Speakers in my Surround System (5.1.2) with somewhat larger speakers, but within the confines of the area where my system is located. So, after looking at my options, I ordered a pair of Klipsch RB-81 II’s in Cherry finish to replace my Klipsch RB-61’s and received them last week. I finally got them placed and hooked up yesterday and had my first listening session during last night’s Music & Merlot session. I’m very pleased with the sound the RB-81’s added to my system. The day they arrived: During last nights Music & Merlot session:
  14. I have a Marantz SR5012 that I felt was operating at elevated temperatures, even with my equipment cabinet door open and the back area opened also. If I remember correctly, it was operating around 110 degrees at max heat, but in my opinion, it still needed some cooling. Thanks to a forum member’s posting about the AC INFINITY in the “What I Got Today” forum, I purchased one and I’ve been completely satisfied with its performance! I went with the AC INFINITY AIRCOM T8 because it has rear exhaust and my equipment cabinet is open in the back. Now I can operate my 5.1.2 system with the equipment cabinet door closed and the AC INFINITY keeps the SR5012’s temperature between my 83-85 degrees setting; well worth the $109 that I paid. Here is a picture of the AC INFINITY AIRCOM T8 in my system.
  15. Honestly, I didn't know he was 89; he's still trucking pretty good at that ripe old age!!!!!! We haven't been to Cody in a while, but we see him every year at the TGCA shows and Denver and I think he makes the CCA shows too! If he makes it to Waco in April, I'll have to give him an extra hard time! 😂
  16. Cool, then I've known your Dad through Gun Shows for many years. He always stops by our table and talks to me and my wife (looks at my stuff, too 😂) and of course I always stop by his tables (plural)!!!!!!!! Too bad the Klipsch Pilgrimage is the same weekend as the Spring TGCA show. I guess you'll be going to Hope and he'll be going to Waco! 😂 If so, I'll see him there!
  17. I'm curious, so this is a SWAG; is your Dad's first name Bob and lives in Georgia?
  18. That would be a nice Winchester for someone to own; not a Pre 64, but still a nice old Winchester! Hope you find it a great home!!!!!! I collected Pre WWII Winchesters (all models, primarily Saddle Ring Carbines) and Pre WWII Colt Single Action Army revolvers for 40 years. About 6 years ago I decided it was time to liquidate the collection, so my wife and I started getting a table at some of the Major Gun Shows every year and sold off the collection. However, I did keep a couple, just for old times sake! 😂

    What I Got Today!

Very nice group of USN Patches! I was a part of or associated with 9 of those!
  20. At the moment it is "Drive" from "Live At Carnegie Hall, Joe Bonamassa, An Acoustic Evening". I like this version better than the Official Music Video!!!!! I really like this song, it has a haunting sound!!!!!
  21. I've had the Blu-ray since it came out. I've watched it twice and enjoyed it very much!!!!
  22. When not using our Home Theater or Stereo Systems, you can usually find me sitting in front of our old Zenith drinking a cup of Coffee and listening to “Inner Sanctum” or "The Lone Ranger" just waiting for Lawrence Welk to start.
  23. The Little Drummer Boy by the Harry Simeone Chorale. When I hear this song for the first time in December, it is officially the Christmas Season for me!
  24. This is a scan from a slide that I took late one evening in the mid 1970's while hunting down on the Red River near Garland, Arkansas.
  25. When our old Sony XBR TV started showing its age, we, I 😂, decided to upgrade to 4K and went with a Sony XBR-55X930E LED 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart TV (approximately $1200). I really wanted a Sony OLED, but just couldn't justify an additional $1000. The Sony XBR-55X930E is a great TV and the Sony UBP-X800 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Player I bought to go with it produces an incredible picture when playing Blu-ray 4K movies, actually, any Blu-ray movies or concerts! Lots to choose from out there, but that's what we have and we are happy with it!
