  1. They're not just in business, they dominate. At least they are not totally 24/7 hate news. SECURITY PRIVACY IMPORTANT ! Opinions on left/ right prolly not gonna get us anywhere but in disagreement. We all agree on so much more than we disagree on.
  2. That certainly is a possibility. The op probably ran a few times but it's always worth trying something a little different and checking all parameters. I have run setup before and it was awful. I changed out main speakers once and listened before I ran setup, it was great. Just mess with it, can't hurt if you got the time.
  3. I would only suggest you NEVER let anyone talk you into an audio purchase in the future. Buy ONLY after audition and comparison. Some units are popular for different reasons, sometimes cause they are easy. As we learned at a young age, easy usually ain't best. Shop, audition, listen, take the time, do the work and you'll be satisfied. If not, you just keep wondering .Good luck. After rereading it appears loud is most important ?? I suppose the Yamaha has a volume knob and you could just hook up a big amp. If more loud mediocre sound is what you're after that's easy. Buy a big amp and a couple cables .
  4. I hope the beginners are paying attention. There will be a test on page 200.🤗
  5. I think as a poll the ? is fine. For anything else is all subjective. I use full MultEQ XT32 in one room and its great, does just what I want, much better that without. I don't use it in another because it don't sound better, it's worser. Every room is different, most setups are different, and we all hear what we like different. It's a tool, in a box, to be used as one sees fit. What's great here might not be there. It's pretty simple, if you like it, use it, if not adjust parameters, if not forget it. Because you do or don't is just a preference. I would add that I would rather have a great prepro without than a cheaper avr with.
  6. Turn off and leave off ? To me that's the best feature of the whole thing........
  7. I'm thankful this was posted as I looked years back and found nothing. The formula the Mighty F put up does seem to fit with my klf30BS0011xxxx
  8. Thanks for posting that ! Sony was the anti dvd audio for years and refused to ever put it in a player. That makes this player a real possibility.
  9. When we all get the dino poop off the screen you'll want to throw those 4k dvds out and get a 12k tv, shipping in march......
  10. The oppo would have been sweet. I say spend a couple hundred bucks on a name brand and then you'll be ready to pay $20 - 40 for a movie. I've had a 4k player a year, never bought a movie......I personally would not pay $40 for a movie if it had Elvis and Albert Einstein on the Titanic fornicating with Marilyn Monroe and John Wayne while battling Aliens . 4k is great but crazy prices ......If they can't sell me they ain't gonna sell too many....Totally my opinion .
  11. Thanks, I know I've heard some that were terrible. I've also heard some that were at least pretty good. I have some in a set of garage speakers and at a little distance they do a good job.

It took me 17 years to get to 5000 and nothing ?? Sure, I learned some stuff but I thought we got a pass to the "hidden" forum .
  13. I can just see dragging those in to most living rooms in the burbs......of course I would. Limited buyers , yep.....patients...yep. Question, those piezo tweeters ?? Are they considered "acceptable "by the "audiophile communty" ?
  14. Just switch speaker cables (L R ) and make sure it's the speaker. If it is take it back and replace. I can imagine the going from at15 to 280 is a big change . If you're after home theater the 280s should do great.I have at15's and the only reason I use klf30 instead is the great upper end. The at 15 is a rock monster regardless of what ANYONE says.
  15. For that kinda price everyone should have good cables . There sure isn't anything wrong with a modest investment for quality.
  16. One of my medications, breathing inhaler $340 a month.....so yeah, it would be a bargain
  17. I certainly consider that a big part of security.
  18. Well......as with almost everything in the lost art....in the middle is where the real deal is. Albums sound great. When I played "Bloody well Right" by Supertramp on a Marantz TT, Cornwalls and a classic old Magnavox powerhouse like I've never seen before or since (78 ?), MAGIC. So great I or my friends will never forget it. Then cds came along and were great. Well recorded music sounds great on cd. I'd rather hear a good recording on cd than a poor recording on the master. Of course sacd and dvda are the pinnacle currently for me. Speaker cables, you need good ones, 14/12g decent grade copper in durable jacket . Power, a shielded cable is great, what I use when needed, of 14g if possible. Shielded interconnects are advisable. Basic common sense gets you most of the way to great HIFI. Money will get you the last bit, but no need to waste any, just spend wisely. It's just an opinion, that's what all this is basically and I'm one post closer to breaking 5 thousand. That's a lot of BS.
  19. Yeah, maybe if I had to label them. If you can go talk to a dealer about an audition. Mine would let you try it for up to a week. He said they had very few returned, I found out why. They also would negotiate a little which was nice.I got pretty sick some years back and had to sell a bunch of my stuff. I sold the Rotel stuff for the price I paid and it was over a year old. If Anthem is available also give em' a try. If you take the time now, you may not have to wonder what if ??? If you take the shortcut, you're just gonna keep wondering. I found more than just good music can exist in a good unit, that's designed for people that love music, not just a market.
  20. It would be great if you had a dealer/dealers that would allow in home demos. I used to get a few and bring them home and try em' a few days or week. The good places are gone or further away here ,now. I learned alot about different sound and what I liked though.
  21. I joined when it first went online. I thought this is gonna be great. I found old friends from childhood in other states. So nice to know what became of them and neighbors. One guys mom still lived in the same house 40 years later. It wasn't long till I decided the world has too many issues for me to witness.....I do go on and wish my wife Happy Anniversary or birthday. Otherwise I don't venture there. My wife has a pretty good understanding of internet insecurity. She likes the idea that if anything gets hacked she's not involved. She uses her tablet to yack and check email, no biz. This thread also made me think of some great youtube videos where guys with the time and inclination hack telephone scammers
  22. Yep, but I'm not sure many people care, sadly.....I can only imagine how kooky it's gonna get. I'm old school but been on the internet almost since it began. I've never had an issue, but insurance companies, home depot, banks, credit ratings companies etc.....they have. Common sense is a usual the key. I don't even let my wife use my pc/chromebook. I use duck duck and vpn. When did everything that's crazy become so popular? Crying online to the world? Telling everyone your biz ? Saying it's ok to see everything I've ever done or will do ? The cops ,media, marketing etc...must think they are in heaven with all this info..
  23. Nice, I love mopars, , drove Cuda's many years of my life, thus Fish.
  24. Parasound ,fine stuff , imo. I suggest not buying any until you listen to Anthem, Rotel for music. Emotiva or NAD also worth an audition, I dont know whats available to you. If I had 3-4k to spend I could be 100% happy with what that can buy if you shop hard. I have streamers all over my property and one that;s great for music, it don't stream ,45 years old, Sansui. I plug in a chromecast audio and stream flac, tunein, youtube, spotify and the rest.
  25. Right, I meant 64II w 7II, just lazy. I used the 64 w/83s, it worked fine with them. I tried the rc7 with 83's, that was the reason I sold the 83s.
