Welcome to the forum JT, I don´t own RF7´s, but i do Heresys, first generation too. As far as i´ve read here in the forums, You can´t really compare the two. The 7´s are all Ooomph, more modern, a lot more bass and power to fill a room(my guess). I use my Heresy´s for music only, the woofers are decent for music, but not enough for HT. In my opinion H1s would be a waste in HT. I´m even considering buying a turntable again, just to enjoy th H´s. But all that is just my opinion, my 2C´s. André

Seeing records labeled "Phillips" brings back memories from long ago. When i was a little boy, my uncle still had his big collection of vinyl records... Still remember those labels, like "Autobahn" by "Kraftwerk". 👍

Surely just as "entrance models", right? The Heritage series has been around for more than 50 years and as such i think, the main line won´t change. Maybe they would try to gain a bit more mass apeal, so to say. If that is a good thing, who knows...

Hi Ed, I´ve got the same speakers. The grilles are fastened with velcro-tabs to the motor board. Just take something, like a teaspoon and gently pry them loose. What can happen, as it did with my baybies, beeing 40 years old, is that the tabs on the motor board come of. But You can just glue them in place again. André

Dear Forum, in restoring the finish on my KG1.5 and reading on this forum, a question came up for me. I read a lot about upgrading tweeters on the larger KGs, are there possibilities to upgrade the tweeter of the 1.5 (i believe they were K86ks)? Sound of my pair is still fine, no need for action yet, i´m just interested and asking. André

I´m in the process of filling the gaps between verneer-halves with dust from sanding, mixed with wood-glue. After sanding i will take some pictures. After stripping paint, panels of the verneer are ofcourse show some patches, were the paint seeped deeper into the wood. I hope to lessen the effect through sanding, the rest by using an oil of darker hue.

Guys, am i mistaken, or can this kind of story/history only be possible on this Forum? I don´t think there is any other in which you will find audiophilles, fans, plain users, and makers mixed together like this. You´ve got to love threads like these. Thanks!

BigStewMan, have You thought about uninstalling the harddrive from your laptop and putting it into a external shell and save your data? Just my idea on this. Andre

I forgot! What i did until now: - Put a rag onto the surface i wanted to strip and soaked with acetone. Waited a few minutes until the paintcoat started to disolve. - Used a scraper to get rid of most of the disolved paint and used another rag to wipe off the rest of the paint. - Dabed fine steel-wool in aceton and scrubbed the veneer to get into the groves of the wood and wiping up with acetone and a rag immediately afterwards. - After all of the acetone dissolved, i gently sanded the surface, using sandpaper with 180 grit. Wiped the dust of with a wide brush, wiped with a damp cloth and used an old toothbrush to clean the grooves of the wood. Done, so far. Andre

Todays progress, still on cabinet one: And this is why i think they got a black paintjob before: This groove/ grap is a bit more pronounced on the other cabinet. I plan to collect sanding dust from the bottom wood, mix with wood-adhesive and fill those gaps, than sand smooth. Andre

I paired this Yamaha with my KG1.5s and i´m very happy. Use this as my PC-Setup. A-S201, highly recommended for a small budget system. 🤘

Thanks for the reply! Yes, i was thinking it might be oak. The label gives no hint, these came in Satin Black finish from Klipsch. I guess they were not deemed good enough to be sold natural at the time.

Fellow Forum Memnbers, in another thread i mentioned my long-term project of refurbishing a pair of Heresy Es; this one is more of short term project. A few months ago i got my pair KG1.5 back from my sister. They are the first speakers i bought from my own money, back in ´94. in 2001 they were replaced by RF3s and my sister got, moveed with them to France, came back and soon they went to a garage. Now i got them back because She does not have the space to keep them (having moved again.). Now i use them as my computer speakers, hoked them up to Yamaha A-S201, and they still play just as great as they did the first time i heard them! But all this moving and finaly storage in a garage have not been kind on the cabinets. The´re scratched and in places the paint chiped off the wood. So i started to strip them, i plan to just oil and wax them. I know, as far as natural wood goes, these came in oak and walnut. Maybe there´s someone here who, from the attached pictures, can tell me what kind of verneer this is? Stay healthy, Andre

Thanks Thebes for the input, actually i was thinking about the capacitors as well, i´m also contemplating a replacement of the terminals. Is there anything i should keep my eye on, while looking up said terminals? Luckily, one of my co-workers is a carpenter and he agreed to help me with the woodwork.

Hello Forum, I have a pair of Heresys that were handed down from my uncle to my mother to me. From the labels i understand that they should be 1972 make and oiled walnut. As You can see, serials are not consecutive and, to me, baffling. Can somebody make a sembelance of meaning out of these? Cabinets are fine, just the veneer needs repair, its chipped in two places as You can see. I guess, the rest is mainly a matter of cleaning, sanding re-oiling, maybe waxing. I also want to make floorstands for them, found a template in the forum, great. And i have to rework the grills, the fabric is torn and one of the Klipsch- labels is missing. I haven´t opened them yet, but they do work, haven´t tested them to their linits either, don´t know if that would be a wise thing to do...? There are some other things i´ve got to get done first, but then these babies are next. Until then it´s going to be more research and maybe some good ideas from You guys. Andre

My mother got a pair of Heresy E ´s ( in my dining room now), never noticed them much as a kid, they had always been there. Back in 1994 i was ready to spend my first own money on new speakers. A fellow E6 in my first unit, i talked to about it, happened to own Klipsch too, so took me to a local dealer and i got my KG 1.5s there. Had given those to my sister for severeal years until recently and am just "redicovering" them in my new workroom, hooked up to a Yamaha A-S201 and somehow the feeling i got when first listening to them in store ´94 came back.

Hello fellow Klipsch- Owners, just signed up and wish to introduce myself to this forum. I live and work in Berlin/ Germany. I´m lucky to own several products by the Klisch Company, those beeing: • RF 3´s plus center, rear, surrounds and a sub; got these while I stayed with the German Air Force in El Paso TX. • A pair of KG 1.5´s, bought with my first own money. • A pair of Heresy E´s (mid 70s, my guess). These are family heirlooms of a sort, beeing passed from my uncle to my mother and then to me. When i´ve got the time i wish to restore both the 1.5 and the Heresy E. Andre
